In the UK we do have phone boxes but the phones inside don't look like that. In the video they were training in Gibraltar, a british overseas territory on the coast of spain. The territory is literally just a big rock and a town lol.

My Dad was a Corporal in 48 Royal Marine Commando, specially formed for D Day in 1944. There was a book written about them in 2002, called D Day commando by Ken Ford. They landed on the Canadian Beach, Juno at St Aubin. It’s a very good read. My late Dad was Bert Skinner.
Ah Juno. Regiment Gunners, Commandos and the Canadians.
My late dad's mate was there with 48 cdo. He was my dad's sergeant when he joined up in 1946
Great reaction! Your videos are top notch!! Could you also consider reacting to ... US military archives know your ally: Britain. It was a USA documentary during ww2 about British people to the american public.
We certainly do still have phones booths! Mostly in rural areas incase of emergency and London does but those are for tourism.
I second your choice of reaction video
Some of the phone booths have also been remade into first aid posts in extremely rural areas.
3rd that!
That's a really enjoyable video.

The Tunnels are really interesting, there is 33 miles of Tunnels inside the Rock more than the whole roadways outside! Was fortunate to have a tour when I was there with my Squadron!
This channel is the best. I love military videos, but to have such a likeable bloke with real world, detailed knowledge joining you throughout the video & adding in his own experience, valued opinions & expertise takes his videos to another level. Hope the Spanish are watching, just in case they get ideas about annexing the Rock.
Spain isn't showing any military annexation plans. On other hand they have shown continuous interest on political annexation. Brexit is making small changes towards political annexation. But the annexation is still long way in future because it needs major political changes in the Rock.

You allways say positive things about British armed forces thanks
He does. Also he's worked with British Soldiers so he also knows first-hand how awesome and top notch they are.
Bfbs are the British forces broadcasting service so they provide the units overseas with British TV programmes and have journalists etc to provide them with news relevant to them and this sort of coverage is probably actually made for broadcast rather than RUclips hence the quality, if I remember right forces TV is also part of Bfbs hence why they both get such good access
Good to see a CGB behind you. Earned mine in 1992.
The red phone box is more of a tourist attraction, they are still found in the centre of London or little villages, however we do still have more modern phone boxes in our cities with e mail technology aswel as phone lines.
Nice insight again man. As someone from a non military background it's great how you explain everything for us!
I think the Royal Marines are genuinely one of the greatest military units. They are just so unique, always adapting new technology and techniques and have such a rich history, it's pretty astounding. From looking at this and the rest of the future commando stuff, it kind of looks and feels like they are almost being adapted to become a Tier 2 SF unit from what is already an elite, non SF unit. Kind of like the US Navy Seals with their Tier 1 element being Team 6. Royal Marines + Tier 1 element SBS
Commandos were always SF but so much peacekeeping after the war we kept using them as grunts
@@burgundycommander7589 commandos are tier 2 and the direct template for US SF, they were the only SF that were not disbanded because they merged directly with an established unit there is no non commando RM its typical of the UK to get 1 unit to do several roles,
@@burgundycommander7589 UK dont have a distinct tier 2 like the US so Elites have always covered both roles
@@burgundycommander7589 AH I see you thought I meant officially not in terms of cabability
Royals and paras are essentially what you would call tier 2 though its hard to directly compare them to the US forces. Being a smaller military they have to do a wider array of duties including elite Infantry. They are however on a similiar level to seals and the US rangers. Dont take my word. Watch some chris thrall vids on guys who have served with such units

BFBS, British Forces Broadcasting Service, in the 70's it was just a radio station for forces abroad, later they added a TV channel, founded in 1943 by the British War Office, now the ministry of defence but independent from them.
A bit of friendly advice when you say ‘it’s going to be the UK, England specifically’ you got that mixed up. The Royal Marines are a British which by definition includes the 4 constituent parts of the UK: England, Scotland Northern, Ireland and Wales. The narrator of this video is Scottish by the way ;-) Good video !
So the RMC is going back to being something like the Rangers and the Raiders. Good to see that happening. Real shame how they were just doing regular infantry work the past 20 years.
They are elite much harder training than regular infantry and paras. There already like rangers raiders think this make them pretty much special forces

yep they've been a lot longer then what these fact clips will try and make people believe but the bloke who does the reactions I have to say I like the way he has respect for other countries troops and regiments.
yeah, before the napoleonic era, they were boarding and counter boarding in the age of sail, naval port defence and troops dropped off for attack before the army arrived, sharp shooters in the rigging, it was a French marine that shot Nelson for example

Gibraltar is located at the Southern tip of Spain, at the entrance to the Mediterranean sea. It was ceded to the British in 1713 by the Spanish and so it is a British Overseas Territory. The people there speak English and Spanish but a lot of British things, like the phone boxes are everywhere. It is a strategic Royal Navy port and the RAF are also stationed there. In addition, there is the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, which is a light infantry regiment with a Artillery Troop. They are part of the British Army as a defence engagement force. In addition, there are obviously British troops on 'The Rock' (as it is known) on a regular basis - as in this video.
I guess it was essential in WW2 hence the tunnels. Was ofc key for the 'empire' in trading routes. Like Falklands I believe the inhabitants wish to remain British despite being closer to other big nations. Find that odd but then i've never been there so I can only imagine it's for cultural reasons.
Love the channel. You do some really solid unbiased reactions to world military forces. Keep up the good work buddy.
I am a brit living in southern Spain for nearly 18 years and have worked in Gibraltar on and off for all that time .I worked a lot in the tunnels and it still intriguing every time you go in there .Quite funnny that the guy walking his german shephard is my mate Leigh ex squadie aswell .There are a few telephone boxs in Gibraltar and you will always find tourists in them taking photos and quite a few old style post boxs ,if you ever get chance well worth a visit .
Quite a few of the old phoneboxes get repurposed, there are a few that have AEDs in for example.
The phone booths aren't kept these days for practical use in the UK but more of a traditional thing with the classic red phone booth, Gibraltar being a british island also carry that tradition.
BFBS is the British Forces Broadcasting Service. They run British forces radio, TV channels as well as only content. They aren’t a small organisation 👍🏽
Thank you Royal Marines, very cool.
Thumbs up from the Royal Navy, great reaction
My son's with 43 Commando, they've had the Colt C8 for a couple of years now and from what I'm told they all far prefer it to the SA80.
Well they shouldn't because British pride haha (yeah the newer versions're two thirds German lol but it's still a British DESIGN at least, and there's nothing wrong with it now thanks to H&K); I just feel we should be using our own stuff as much as possible to keep our seperate identity, especially when it comes to the military, and I don't see what major advantages the C8 really has over the latest SA80A3's, as it's still firing the same cartridge using the same magazines and the same optics & accessories, the SA80 being a bullpup the overall size difference is marginal, and sure the C8's lighter but not THAT much lighter, if an SA80's too heavy for you at 11 pounds you need to get back in the damn gym lol, people griping about that should try a Lee-Enfield or SLR sometime. Think the only major insurmountable advantage is the non-transferable right-shoulder only thing, which IS a fair point. Frankly that never seems to have been that big of a problem in previous actual combat use of the SA80 though, not something I've heard many veterans grumble about including the ones that definitely DID have plenty of other grumbles about that poor much-maligned rifle lol. At the end of the day the way I see it most people ARE either right-handed or ambidextrous anyway, and if you need to lean out of cover to the left of a wall in an emergency that's when you just DO use it from your left shoulder and accept risking a bit of hot brass hitting you because better that than actual enemy bullets
I have Alot of time in Gibraltar in 90s, I believe there is 32ml of tunnels in the Rock, we used to do are BFT in It, plus a lot of stuff in the Rock

Yes it’s a phone booth. A famous British red phone box. Gibraltar is a UK overseas territory. So Gibraltar has British architecture and standard things you’d find in the Uk like these phone boxes, post boxes and British police. Despite being in the Mediterranean.
That flashbang at the beginning sounded like sevenn nation army
England specifically?? I'm Scottish, I was in 45 Commando at RM Condor, Arbroath, Scotland. And I would say 15 years ago probably 60% of SAS/SBS operators I met were Scottish. The guy in your video here is Scottish! (Love your channel BTW, I forgive you, really)

Old red phone boxes, rare, but still and iconic sight on British streets.
Being sold for a £1 now to their local councils to do with as they will. Most have been turned into defibrillator stations. The more you know.
Most of our phone booths have been turned into WiFi hotspots. In rural areas they are used as book exchange hubs where people can help themselves to books and leave books they have finished with for others.
Brilliant video as always, keep up the great work mate.
There are 22 miles of tunnels in 'The Rock' and some of them were used by Eisenhower during WW2 as his headquarters during 'Operation Torch'.
There are 34 miles of tunnels. A number are still in use by the military
I was in Gibraltar a few years ago, it's really strange coming across the border from Spain, next thing you are walking down british style avenues with british cops etc.
We do still have phone boxes in the uk as that's one of our distinguishing trade marks. Also the rock (Gibraltar) has them too hehe!
We still have a lot of the traditional red cast iron phone boxes, but mostly just for the history and how iconic they are. We mostly moved over to cheap stainless steel ones that didn't survive too well. But everyone has a cell phone, so the more modern phonebooths are probably even more rare than the traditional ones now. You mostly only find phone booths in areas that get a lot of tourists, cus tourists often don't bring their phones cus they don't wanna lose them, or can't be bothered to get international roaming

Gibraltar was a part of spain but when we absolutely fucked them up in one of the wars we had with them. We took Gibraltar as a war gift making them sign it over in perpetuity they have wanted it back ever since. Like fuck are they getting it back though.

Most small towns and villages across the UK still hold dear their phone boxes. A large number have now been removed thanks to the advent of mobile phones turning those in inner cities into toilets.
Venture out into the tiny villages though and you’ll find that whilst they still have phone boxes, they’ve been converted into either tiny libraries/book exchanges or they house modern defibrillators.
David Sterling fell from a jump and nearly killed himself, his legs were paralysed. When his legs were starting to get better he went to the British HQ without a pass and decided to jump over the wire using his crutches as a ladder. Sterling was running from the guards without his crutches and ran into a couple of offices eventually reaching the General who gave him a small amount of troops to start his unit.

At the end of our Homeguard basic course (CQB part) we went into central Stockholm and cleared streets. They told us to treat it as a real operation and that barrels should be pointed towards windows and doorways along the streets.
