i think shanks will retreive the one piece but not to become pirate king i think he will fight him as a way to test luffy if he's worthy of becoming pirate king
Now I think Shanks made luffy for what he is. The Gomu fruit has a will of its own and chooses its user. Now like others say the D family has connection with Nika and so the fruit only choose D family. Shanks knew Luffy is one of the D, and he let Luffy ate it intentionally.
Shanks knew that the peak of the fruit’s power is Nika’s power, hence the only thing he needs to either acquire One piece or activate it.
From what I know, the One piece has a power to change the world. He might be one of those who wants to change the world for good without having the opinion of others, make a world that is convenient in his belief. Like Madara’s world of peace made from an illusion, like Lelouch’s father to make a new world out from geass. A new world where others don’t get to say NO.
you are reaching lmao, the information of nika and the gomu-gomu fruit should only be available on the last island "raftel" along with the history of the world, shanks couldnt have known about cause he wasnt there when roger stepped foot on the island, at best shanks should only have hints and clues about the importance of the fruit as he is theorized to be a descendant of the celestials. Luffy eating the fruit is completely accidental judging from the genuine shock that shanks had witnessing that scene, Oda has clearly put heavy emphasis on the word "fate" and that everything is always going to be what "fate" makes it to be, and roger betting everything on that "fate" that the person who'll reach the last island and the one whose gonna free wano would be the same person and the one to actually "free" the world. nah... momo will definitely be strong, but strong as in like, yonko commander level. momonosuke is now 28 years old, with absolutely no haki training or haki in general. he shows no sign of having a conquerors spirit, so becoming a top tier is already out of the question, then on top of that he has far less time to master and awaken his devil fruit compared to the time kaido had. plus momo doesn't have the natural birth buff of being born an oni, he's just a regular human unlike kaido, not that race is a huge deal in one piece, considering shanks, garp and luffy, but being born as an overpowered race WILL make you stronger.
