The incomparable Miss Battle ! Wonderful, as always. Her velvety voice ( and her beauty ) positions her on the top of the world. Thanks for sharing this jewel. She is one of the greatest soprano ever !
Although I absolutely _love_ Battle’s voice, I’m put off when she chews her vowels….she does such distortions that I get so irritated that I have to stop listening. This is a feature of inconsistently applied technique, and I can’t understand why she or her coach didn’t work on it. Or, maybe they did, I don’t know, but Battle comes off her support repeatedly in speaking range in the 2.5 minutes I listened to this.
Very true. I believe we all have to constantly be vocally rehabilitated. If we sing with a sore throat or a cold we crank our head to make the pitch so when we are well we must UNDO what we did to make it through. Her breathing is very loud and distracting but she sings every note perfectly on pitch. She misses a few articulations in the passaggio. ....
Her technique really went off the rails after 1990. She still delivered amazing performances, but anything that required top tier legato became labored.
its very interesting to watch her being coached by the legendary Sylvia Olden Lee while preparing for her baroque duets recording. Classical singing is one of the hardest things to do...and those at the top of their field have to keep at it.
Prima Dona Kathleen Battle, one of the world’s greatest singers!!! A masterful vocalist! A Flawless performance! Beautiful and Elegant

Wonderful soprano. She was a great handelian.🙏🏻❤️
Semele is my favorite Ms. Battle recording. However, her recordings no not do her justice. There is nothing like seeing her live.
The most fantastic soprano ever!!!! ❤❤ absolutely awesome!! ❤❤👏👏👏👏
Amazing Ms Battlle!
Luv her voice
Shes just perfection
Herself I Shall Adore, If I Persist in Listening.
Too Late.
Как она прекрасно поет блестяще и блистательно. Бравооо.....
She actually performed "oh sleep why doest thou leave me" from her last New York recital age age 75......she still has it!
Sing Kathleen! Adore yourself!
배틀의 진수를 봅니다.
영원한 소녀의 목소리를 듣는다.
Damn!!!!!!!
She was a recognized narcissist, so this aria is perfect for her. She was also a very good singer.
As is the case with most operatic sopranos. Being is love with yourself and your own voice is par for the course!
I'm so pleased not to be an expert. I can enjoy a performance without hearing flaws.
Battle sounds like a housefly in flight at 2:58
