One major gameplay difference for me, when compared to other ARPGs such as HI3 and Aether Gazer, is the weight behind each character's attacks. Despite this, their actual combat has always felt worse than PGR's for me, and part of that was the lack of "oomph." Best way to put it is. mastering them feels like every(mostly) characters is part of your body( like another limb or something) that's how immersive the combat is for me

As a newbie my guess is that pgr is all about reading and trying things for yourself. Combat system wise is pretty friendly to new players. Yes its kinda weird that color thing at first, but you can get the hang of it quickly. Like the tutorial stages explain almost everything to you if not everything. Thing is i think people just ignore tutorials overall, so they end up playing for months without even realizing why are there colors behind your characters on member selection. To use characters properly you can go read what the skills do, some of them are a little bit overwhelming at first (cw was for me) but after reading a couple times and practising you understand the characters kit, therefore the playstyle you can get the most benefit with, in terms of dmg i mean. Also, some characters have different playstyles that depends on the rank said char has. Like cw for example, i didnt took the time to read too much about it yet but it seems like at SSS the sw playstyle suits her pretty good (dps wise), while beneath SSS she can get better results (again, dps wise) using more of the hold dodge dynamic. Pgr its a great game overall, as a newbie i can definitely say its the best gameplay and gacha wise that ive ever played. Besides, if you dont stress too much about rankings you can go off meta and still perform pretty decent (this last thing i didnt test it myself tho, but i do have plans of doing it).
CW's slam is the highest damage move, ult2 gets stronger sss and above. SW is never directly for damage, only for building energy and stacks, you will never spend much time on it
I recommend channels like Spider2B and Rexlent for character guides, they basically give a demonstration of a character's kit and moves and gives a tldr to avoid reading. And yes, it's what I do, I never bothered to read those novel length descriptions.
I initially started to not worry about rankings too, but as i played longer, i realized that actually aiming for high scores is a fun act itself (as long as you dont go too overboard and force yourself to keep competing for leaderboard positions). Ad now i can say, even as 2 Years F2P, i can easily stay in top 10% EXPPC and Leader/Hero WZ without any real effort. it's just a learning curve at the start
The best and most fun aspect if this game for me is mastering the combat sytem. PGR has probably one of the best combat system in all of the games I've played, I'd say it's on par with some or even better than some AAA games out there...

Nice video, one small issue Qu: Shukra naah i'm joking. good video and probably waaay better than i could have done a depth explanation textwall. Just a bit disappointed you didn't talk about memories (or stigmatas as most people would know it as)
I dunno I think even as a new player the ping system seemed pretty straight forward to me, but I play on an iPad. Gamepad is rough, and with PC, it would be understandably difficult to understand controls. This game was built for mobile though, and it’s main gimmick was designed with mobile in mind and nothing else. So before anyone plays on gamepads or pc, I think it’s best to learn and play the game how it was designed to be played to understand it better. There comes the question; should all games cater to PC players in mind? If they did, PGR’s unique ping system would not have ever existed. Perhaps it would’ve been more like Aether Gazer and man Aether Gazer is confusing with all the skill button combinations. PGR seems less complicated.
Played off and on for awhile now didn’t know about color positioning so their intro skills does that color of ping orb. I also knew about switching characters and you can get more matrixes off, but I was always deterred from switching off my main dps because of the lengthy cooldown I didn’t really get the whole orb management aspect so that makes a lot more sense. Great video explaining everything! For me I used to just brute force all the content with Lucia crimson abyss but now I just brute force w/ crimson weave 😅 As far as team building goes as a player who comes and goes a lot, it’s pretty rough to balance progressing in the story and leveling up my characters / artifacts. I had help with the returner event to catch up, but I’m still having to burn my energy everyday to level these artifacts to 45 which halts my progression towards the fun content which is the boss fights. I would love to try out new playstyles and characters outside of the story, but it takes about a week of grinding to get just one character to a good enough level and several weeks more if I’m grinding out shards to make A rank characters stronger.
Small correction there, intro (entry orb) skills are not tied to the position. Every character will use the same orb upon entry no matter the position. Like Karenina Scire will always use the yellow orb no matter her position or Alpha Crimson Abyss will always use red orb no matter what. It definitely helps to know that these orbs will always be considered a 3-ping, however, there are some odd interactions too. Take Crimson Abyss, if you used a blue orb, swap off, then swap back in, instead of the red orb registering as a 3-ping that would activate the core passive, she'll just do the red orb ability instead. At least it still remembers that you 3-ping blue orbed beforehand so you can always activate the other half of the core passive when you switch back.
A few things about switching: a lot depends on the specific team, each element has a different rotation timing that is optimal For example the current meta electric team does not switch out of alpha, unless a boss is incredibly low after the big ult and Vera's flag is still on the field and you have Vera's signature
@@minifeebas8911 yeah was wondering about that because most teams I see they just camp 1 character but usually spam out the QTEs. Recently picked Vera up as a character selector so I pretty much have the electric team built.
@@treeleven3316at this point in time, only electric works like that dark rotates unless you only have karenina or luna phys rotates unless you only have bianca fire rotates unless you only have one gen 2 character ice rotates unless you only have lucia starting two patches from now, electric gets a new frame for 21, and that makes it that you do get an actual rotation for most gamemodes for electric too

As for the Combat itself, its the best thing I've ever played, its hard and its fun. Though the first few bosses weren't much but the bosses later on are just perfect, PGR has been the best video game experience I've had since playing Codm or Mlbb but i liked those for different things.

I think it boils down to preference imo. My controller layout is basically copy pasted from dmc where I can press dodge or ult without letting go of my thumb from the attack button. And also I can setting the orb to L>R since I don't have to press the orb on the other side of my phone where I can get one shot within that millisecond of seeing what orb I should use You should see my orb 4-8 layout, I have to press the most unorthodox button just to hit those orb XD,
and another thing that also ties pgr together just like another comment has said, its their aninations and sound design. the characters make you feel like you are actually on the battlefield and like your actually commanding them. well thats the point. it makes you feel like a true commandant. crimson weave, hoo she sounds just so damn powerful
I tied the orb positions along with normal atk and ult key to the right numpad on the keyboard, so most of them are within my right hand. It may seem many for one hand, but the left hand is usually very busy with movements and dodging so I think this is fine
Me having to learn to power down my combo abilities as i finish fights too easily without enjoying the graphics I wouldn’t change anything about this game--esp the way the buttons are arranged. It's a change refreshing for mobile and adds to the uniqueness for me
The 3 pings system is definitely unique but also intimidating. I don't really get it the first time, but after hearing Gen2 is coming with Bianca I immediately jump to the game again and got hook.
I honestly think if a simple 3 ping mechanic is “intimidating” I don’t believe those people are playing to actually have fun. Gacha games are easy already. PGR is the most “hardcore” one and even it, is an easy game and gen 2 characters make the fighting even more boring tho more flashy looking. You just basically in a cinematic most of the times now and then delete everything, Look at the new Que on CN, She looks so cool but 90% of the time you’ll be walking up on some freaking stairs and then you nuke everything then she just loops that. Mainly why I stick to mostly A ranks these days and in the future Uns as well. Ever since I started playing those I feel like I’m “fighting less”. So please, if people find that too much, They should just install afk arena or candy crush and go to sleep since they are just playing for progression rather then playing for the sake of playing a video game. PGR is still my favorite gacha but I’m not gonna suger coat it, it is starting to become more of a “flashy mobile game” then an actual action hack n’ slash game.
@@mahkeemdehmah10boo87 Yeah, right now Bianca has the most braindead gameplay loop. She's the one that start my PGR journey, but after I build my ice team of Bambi and Ayla, it shows how much more complex non-gen2 attackers are and its more satisfying to master.

Can someone pls help me, i somehow dont have the option for the Orb Direction. Im playing on the pc client, do i have to activate it somewhere? That option is not there for me. Im a new Player and love the game so far but the fact the Orbs go from right to left is confusing the hell out of me so it was mindblowing to see in this video that he has the option to change the direction, but i just checked, that option is not there for me.
I'm actually playing this on my phone, got a gaming phone though with shouldertriggers so it's doable, can't imagine playing this with 2 fingers, I'd die.
Me with QTE: *place healers* Because damn it, I suck at dodging 😂 but the game is pretty nice. Gacha ain't too bad, weekly is good and simple, building characters aren't a chore since there's a guide and event stages that provide the funds for it, just have to grind for it
I found a way for the controls to be completely nature to me wasd -> esdf character switch (top) - w character switch (bottom) - v cub - c ult - g pings/orbs: 1 - a 2 - r 3 - space 4 - z 5678 - mouse buttons interact - 4 special interact 1 - 3 special interact 2 - t special interact 3 - 2 special interact 4 - 1 s.i 5-8 - not rlly important shift - change pov, mouse/aim it looks very scuff on face value, but it s really comfortable with me, mx master 3s (mouse) and hhkb keyboard a big preference is keybing a and g... in wuwa i have a as reso skill and g as ult, so that was very helpful for me to be able to seemlessly switch between games i wanted to emphasize being able to look around in pgr like in wuwa and be able to control every aspect of gameplay. especially the mobile interact bhtton issues, hence why i have the first few interact buttons near esdf button. so if one doesnt work ill try the other.
on mobile i play with 2-3 fingers (the 3rd finger for QTE/Swapping) on pc i play with my two hands as if im playing a classic mmo with shittons of skills while being consistently challenged by some unknown muscle memory from who knows what game, making the QTE to be an accidental swap which in turn leads to restart( sometimes) or in short a skill issue, regardless its still freaking fun oh shit nobody asked
the combat is INCREDIBLY. boring. I heard a LOT of people compare it to dmc, so for the first time i bought a dmc game, dmc4. The combat is very fun, rich and deep and NOT ANYTHING like pgr. @@mahkeemdehmah10boo87 yeah, with proof that good designed character kit like bridget can bring them more plus from community, hopefully they aren't afraid to implement it to newer S rank instead of the just stable formula "S rank = spammy but high dmg" only
I was one of those many players who think negative about their gaming skill... I thought i gonna be skill issue, but today, somehow, that's the fun experience i ever get in mobile action game
Can someone pls help me, i somehow dont have the option for the Orb Direction. Im playing on the pc client, do i have to activate it somewhere? That option is not there for me. Im a new Player and love the game so far but the fact the Orbs go from right to left is confusing the hell out of me so it was mindblowing to see in this video that he has the option to change the direction, but i just checked, that option is not there for me.
the best way I can describe the gameplay is: have you ever tried to play Code:Vein and Candy Crush at the same time?
I'm actually playing this on my phone, got a gaming phone though with shouldertriggers so it's doable, can't imagine playing this with 2 fingers, I'd die.
It's was worth it, i mean, this 21 minutes.
All should acknowledge that PGR's combat system and button input is NOT designed for PC gaming at the very beginning...
I feel like people should talk about the auto attack button more.
8:33 video buffered lol
ooohhhh there is a button to change mouse to camera control, that change every opinion of mine abt PC client, thanks
Me with QTE: *place healers*
Because damn it, I suck at dodging 😂 but the game is pretty nice. Gacha ain't too bad, weekly is good and simple, building characters aren't a chore since there's a guide and event stages that provide the funds for it, just have to grind for it
I found a way for the controls to be completely nature to me
wasd -> esdf
character switch (top) - w
character switch (bottom) - v
cub - c
ult - g
pings/orbs:
1 - a
2 - r
3 - space
4 - z
5678 - mouse buttons
interact - 4
special interact 1 - 3
special interact 2 - t
special interact 3 - 2
special interact 4 - 1
s.i 5-8 - not rlly important
shift - change pov, mouse/aim
it looks very scuff on face value, but it s really comfortable with me, mx master 3s (mouse) and hhkb keyboard
a big preference is keybing a and g... in wuwa i have a as reso skill and g as ult, so that was very helpful for me to be able to seemlessly switch between games
i wanted to emphasize being able to look around in pgr like in wuwa and be able to control every aspect of gameplay. especially the mobile interact bhtton issues, hence why i have the first few interact buttons near esdf button. so if one doesnt work ill try the other.
on mobile i play with 2-3 fingers (the 3rd finger for QTE/Swapping)
on pc i play with my two hands as if im playing a classic mmo with shittons of skills while being consistently challenged by some unknown muscle memory from who knows what game, making the QTE to be an accidental swap which in turn leads to restart( sometimes) or in short a skill issue, regardless its still freaking fun
oh shit nobody asked
I litterly need to play this game on controller or I just can't
Especially with CW. Warzone and Siege feels like a marathon but everything is sprint @-@
playing CW vs Lilith on controller a few weeks ago was another level of badass. highly recommend.
the combat is INCREDIBLY. boring.
I heard a LOT of people compare it to dmc, so for the first time i bought a dmc game, dmc4. The combat is very fun, rich and deep and NOT ANYTHING like pgr. PGRs skill ceiling is dodging, thats it. You get dodging down and boom theres nothing left, you can make cool looking combos, but they are not mechanically intensive in any way shape or form apart from the dodging.
trust me as mobile player, i Playing with just 2 fingers 😂
Yea, I play with 2 fingers 👉 👈
