Sadly I'm old enough to remember when the Australian Endurance Championship was a series for the Group C and Group A touring cars when series winners were the likes of Allan Moffat, Peter McLeod, Jim Richards and Glenn Seton. In Gr.C it usually consisted of a 300 KM race at Amaroo Park, a 250 KM race at Oran Park, the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000, a 300 KM race at the old Surfers Paradise track, and (until 1983 at least) a 300 KM race at Adelaide International Raceway. Group A usually had the same, but Adelaide was dropped and there were a couple of 300 KM races at Calder, although the second which also used the Thunderdome was a stand alone race.
Truth be told, these days I would much prefer to see the Aussie GT's than the Supercars.
