hmm not sure about failure to authenticate. thats tricky. have you logged into both accounts before without multiboxing? and if you swap your login accounts does it give the same error on the same instance, or is it only for one of your emails?
So, I download the tool, install, open as admin, filter by name: D2, see the process, click the process, but don't see the lower menu which shows all the files in use etc. What do I need to do, in Process Explorer, to show the specific exe's processing/files/menu or whatever that is called. How do you multibox like in wow where you can multibox controlling both chars to let mercs and auras help you say in the case of 2 paladins? Even if 1 char is a zombie not helping much but following you with merc and aura?
I killed the "check for other instances" and tried to open a new launcher from the shortcut like in ur video and it stay says playing now. Any advice or help please.

Could i simply swap to legacy graphics on 7 alt copies and run modern remake on 1 instance? if i want to just use a main instance in resurrected, but have the others there for whatever support i am shooting for? Will each copy instance then reduce resource cost?
I tried this and got all the way to having two windows of the game running with two characters in lobby. First char can create a game but the second char will always timeout when trying to join that game. Second char can create or join any other game though. I checked the error logs and it was something about a heartbeat timeout. Not sure if anyone else has been successful lately to get this working.

@@anonymouse5826 I don't know of any way to do that without some virtualization, I think you would have to have multiple copies of windows OS running simultaneously
I'm on windows 11used to be able to run 3 instances without lagging at all but now I experience severe lag when joining game/switching between acts. Lag is especially bad when I attempt to tab to another account while the game is still loading when entering a portal/waypoint. Did Blizzard do something to make it difficult to run multiple instances?
Hey man! Question. Can this work if I want to open the same game but one game launcher from Xbox app and the other from Steam? Again, same game. One on Steam. The other on Xbox app. Can I do it?
If you want to use this method, yes. You can keep them running in the background after youve gone through the steps though. Once the games are all running you can keep them up as long as you want
Weirdly the quest wouldn't complete for me unless I got the last kill with a character that hasn't completed the quest yet. Otherwise it locks the quest until a new game is made.
It's not weird. That's how it always worked. Either kill with a character that hasn't completed the quest, or have it in close proximity (e.g. within 2 screens' distance)
there are programs that let you Open 1-20 without any input lag or eating resources, I honestly just need (1-6) depending on the amount of friends playing to always keep it at 8 players for the Exp and Loot, the only problem with running it your way it's the resources and the amount of ram etc it eats, ends up lagging the main screen.
I did all the steps. killed the handle copied and opened up the launcher from the different folders and my pc still checks that i am already running an instance of d2r and doenst let me open up another one. was this workaround fixed?
Still working as far as I know. Are you using a second launcher? You should end up with multiple battle.net launchers too. Theres a setting in battle net that allows for multiple battlenet apps to be launched
I followed this video perfectly, doesnt work though. I have 2 accounts, used process Exp to kill other instance check, open 2nd account. Shows playing now on the 2nd account.
Make sure you have 2 instances of the battle.net launcher, it could have just opened your first launcher twice. you need to check the option to allow multiple battle.net launchers
@@CheatoVox I finally got it, i had to get into the setting of each account and assign where the game would launch from. No idea why, but that fixed it.

Yup, but that's pretty difficult to do to follow two characters around. But it does help a lot if you just want to go through the quests, then lvl up the 2nd char by doing online baal runs. You shouldn't be making copies of the game directory. This is the slowest method for multiboxing and eats heaps of disk space. A better way is to create shortcuts on your desktop to the d2r executable. Edit the shortcut and in the target field add parameters for account, pw and region (I can't paste these here as RUclips just deletes my comment but you can google them). Once you launch from the shortcut you will need to kill the 'check for other instances' handle which you can do manually via procexp.
