Thank you for these videos. Are the examples in this video against topspin or backspin? I'm guessing against topspin but I wanted to check because I'm a noob.
My understanding may not be entirely accurate. For a forehand drive, it indeed relies more on the weight transfer from the right leg to the left leg, generating rotation and using the arm to whip the ball out. However, for the backhand, it primarily involves upper body rotation, which engages the abdominal muscles, but it doesn't require as much power as the forehand. The backhand is more focused on dealing with shorter reaction time shots. If you're positioned far from the table, switching to the forehand is often preferable. Another point to consider is when handling backspin balls. Since backspin allows for more time during the backswing, the weight transfer from the left foot to the right foot is also involved, resulting in a more powerful stroke.
I think , if we look at how these strokes are played , for forehand there is a momentum that is generated with the long swing of the arm, the twisting of the body , the hifting of weights as well - the core is definitely playing its role here by keeping it together and more strong and flexible toe core is better the output overall. For back hand if we notice the force generated by momentum of body twist or swing distance is less as time of reaction os lesser since it taken closer o the body as a result to generate power more core power is accessed I think . Some players like Kreanga have a greater movement of the backhand stroke and large swings generating huge speed and power . When doing coaching it is usually meant for all people and not some rare cases only .
Why to shadow teach one movement and perform with a ball NOT EXACTLY THE SAME movement? Don't get me wrong I like the lesson, but it's amusing why to confuse the students this way!?
Thought the same. I think the reason is that exaggerating the movement and making it bigger helps to explain.. And also helps learners to avoid smaller movements. If he does small movements in the shadow you as a learner will do even smaller movement resulting in an ineffective shot.. I also think that he showed the movement for bh shot form mid distance or even long distance with full movement.. Later he performed the shots form a short distance so the movement range is much more compact since no time and no space

How to learn from him in china? And how to get into his academy?

Any explanation to engage your core? On why on the BH and not FH?
