One of my childhood heroes who is going strong. In the 60s, Robert Vaughn and David McCullum were the coolest men in town. He comes from an era that has long gone now, but he has retained his humour and gentlemanly ways. We won't see his likes again.
He was one of the few important actors who earned a Phd, in history I think. He famously debated William F. Buckley on “Firing Line” and and acquitted himself very well. First picture I have seen of his wife. Very beautiful woman. They had grandchildren. A very fine man. it seems.
I was going to say all of that but it seems I am not as unique as I might wish to be. He turns out to be a really nice, witty person. That makes me happy because....well uno.
Robert Vaughn - One of the coolest actors on TV...Ever!!! I remember him the most for "The Protectors" and that great closing titles tune! -"Through the avenues and ally ways..." sung by Tony Christie. Also his spookily-cool performances in his guest roles on "Columbo". Who can forget his BAFTA nominated performance in the movie "Bullitt" starring alongside Steve McQueen and also he was great in "Superman III", "Battle Beyond The Stars" & "The Towering Inferno". He was of course best known for "The Man From U.N.C.L.E but also appeared in a Hawaii Five-0 episode and was even in "The A Team". They don't make Movie/ TV stars like you any more Robert! R.I.P
Nearly 1968/ the man from uncle tv serial begin in Pakistan TV Me was 9 years old 50 years pass I can not forget both of heroes Remember me many many scenes You man such a smart and active Mian Zahidshakeel Pakistan
I had trouble letting go of his character Napoleon Solo who was a cool hero along with David Mcallum who ranked up their with the Beatles in coolness. An indelible character actor in movies was he too.
Bob Vaughn is clearly the best choice to play Alexander Waverly, number I of Section I in the U.N.C.L.E. organization in the upcoming theatrical film, in which his Napoleon Solo role is being portrayed by Henry Cavill-the second iconic role starring this actor after Superman.
+itcfan No, I haven't heard him talk about "The Protectors" much. Which had the best theme song ever...well equal only to "Hawaii Five-0" which he appeared in also in an episode.
I saw a TV documentary that said Vaughan thought it was a crock of shit, which is why he never really talked about it. There is a short interview here on RUclips where he talks about it but only really discusses Lew Grade, filming schedules and meeting the Queen. He diplomatically avoids discussing the scripts, because he famously thought they were terrible.
Thanks for your comment - You may be right about Irish accent. Didn't notice that before but I think it's just his accent. He was at Birmingham NEC in 2009!
Being a yank, I'm new to this show Loose Women. I'm gathering it's the British version of The View here in the states, which if I was a celeb I'd prefer to be on this show because I am attracted to women with English accents.
what did he die of? someone said he died of a friday!! someone else said he died of shortness of breath!! any more jokes, anyone? come on, we need them. we have to brighten up our planet, don't you think?
Great actor and man. A pity they didn't spend more time with him, it was way too short, TV shows always seem to be in a hurry, and he didn't get to talk about his time on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. TV series (Four Seasons) which really catapulted him (and David McCallum) on to better films and TV series. I know they showed a clip from the show but if you weren't familiar with the TV series it's probably hard to understand the context of the scene.
RIP Robert Vaughn. A true gentleman and a star.
Robert Vaughn is impressive. While he was filming The Lieutenant and UNCLE, he earned a Ph.D. in communications at Southern Cal.

+Rob Jones He is always ultra-cool. Especially in The Protectors. Which was a bit like and followed on from "The Persuaders".
He was one of the few important actors who earned a Phd, in history I think. He famously debated William F. Buckley on “Firing Line” and and acquitted himself very well. First picture I have seen of his wife. Very beautiful woman. They had grandchildren. A very fine man. it seems.
@@JRobbySh His Ph.d. was in Communication.

My goodness, what a wonderful appearance by Robert, a first class raconteur, witty, fast and sharp as a razor.
And he appeared on brit soap Coronation Street a few years before he died. He was normal..... No ego. Rare!
I've always loved him as an actor. For me, Albert Stroller in Hustle is one the best characters he ever played.
Lovely interview and do not forget this was the man who took on William Buckley and won ( re Vietnam).
Thanks for all you gave Robert, along with McQueen & Coburn, you defined COOL !
RIP. Mr. Vaughn was a fun, unpretentious actor. I'm sad to see him go.
There. Will. Always. Be. 1. Robert.. love. You. Robert
He was cool as an ice cube as Solo. America's TV answer to Bond.

Brilliant actor! Fantastic in all that he did! Bye bye Robert! Just sad, I never saw him in person.

These women seem to be ladies.
Am I detecting a lapse into an 'Irish' American voice in this interview?? ... Great Man! .. Wish I Could meet!! .. :-)
Albi❤ RIP
they put him on a tiny stool good man
Amazing guy, so underrated. Top class and highly educated.
I love how nonchalantly Robert scoffs at the very idea that he would ever find himself in a situation where he was waiting for a bus.😂
A lovely man got to meet him when he was filming Hustle. We had a great time chatting.
Self-effacing, charm, wit and elegance.
Thanks. I appreciate it. I didn't realize you knew me! 😉 Oh, sorry you were talking about Robert Vaughn! I agree totally. 👍
