    Great video. Really enjoyed the cold hard reality of car work on the driveway hitting home when it starting to rain!! Loved that you carried on and got your daughter to hold the umbrellla!!!Thanks!

    Very handy to know as mine are due to be changed in about 2k.
    I will be doing it myself now.
    Thank you!

      Great news and you've now the tool for next time. You can do it 👍

    thanks for the video, ... the tool to compress and rotate the piston back into the cylinder only goes clockwise....your caption states anti,clockwise for the right...if you went anticlockwise you would bring the cylinder out and eventually pop out your seals from the bore

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  Год назад

      Thanks for feedback. Correct and you can't turn the piston the wrong way and pop the seals as it's ratcheted from the handbrake cable lever. You can do it 👍

    Just one thing on the slide pins most people put copper grease on the pin thats wrong as the rubber boot will expand with petroleum based product
    Silicone grease is the correct one to use

  • @Stephenpikeman
    @Stephenpikeman 3 года назад

    Thanks for the info. Tis Silicon grease for the sliding pins so the rubber seals aren't affected. Also, how about undoing the bleed nipple a little to push the brake piston in more easily. Catch the brake fluid obviously? Regards Stephen

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  3 года назад

      Undoing the bleed nipple can lead to air in the system unless you can do all things at the same time. Thats why they make special tools to push the piston back. You can do it.

    • @Stephenpikeman
      @Stephenpikeman 3 года назад

      @@YoucandoitwithJules Surely if you open the nipple sufficiently & push the piston back slightly fluid will flow out of the nipple which will prevent air entering. Quickly tighten the nipple when you have stopped pushing the piston. Worked for me.

    great thank you i done it myself . one problem is that i put a tiny split in the bit of rubber around the piston when i wound it back . is it possible to change this rubber?

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  Год назад

      Well done. If you are talking about the rubber dust seal yes you can change it. You can do it 👍

    Hi, how far do you wind the piston back in? Until it stops or just enough to fit the new pads. Can you wind in too far? Cheers

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  4 месяца назад +1

      You can't wind it in too far it just stops. You can do it 👍

    Why shouldn't the engine be started when priming the brakes?

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  7 месяцев назад +1

      Just safety in case someone has put it in gear to stop the car rolling as they have no hand brake while they are replacing the pads and then forget it's in gear and start the engine up. You can do it 👍

    What size discs fit the 2005 T5 shuttle. It looks like yours was a 2004 or 2005. Thanks

      @YoucandoitwithJules  Год назад

      That's was a 2009. All the same. Haven't got the details at hand. If you order some and they fit a T5 then you are good to go. Hope this helps. You can do it 👍

      Rears - are you turning them the right way? Try both ways while compressing at the same time. Or buy the caliper tool. You can do it 👍
