If I had another lifetime, a part of that life would be devoted to playing the bass clarinet. Crippled Tango, by composer Jorge Variego, played by the incomparable bass clarinetist Sebastián Tozzola and pianist, Cecilia Frias. Listen for the vast range of lows and highs.
Music like this is why I want to learn bass clarinet! I've played bass guitar for years, but the bass clarinet seems like it has far more range and dynamic! Beautiful song, beautiful playing.
Thanks for your comment Matthew! So you can start learning bass clarinet. I play also bass guitar and its also an amazing instrument, they just blend perfectly together. Best wishes!
Hey, I am a bass clarinet in the making. You have such beautiful tone and you sound amazing, especially in that high register. Do you have any tips for little wannabes like me?
James E, thanks for your comment. My best tip for you is that you have to study as hard as you can, looking for the goals that you want to achieve, always trying to keep in mind that this is music.. besides the hard work must be an enjoyment...good luck!
I have previously asked about your instrument make and I have just seen the Buffet logo on screen ? I play Buffet soprano but had to settle for (in my price range) a B/H Regent.
DAVID MELLA the best way to know is to test out a few! High registered becomes a lot easier with hardware reeds, so you'll probably a more closed mouthpieces. Try a vandoren m15 to start?
Hello Tempest, thanks for your comment. I use a modified b40 Vandoren mouthpiece and in this recording with Vandoren reeds V12 4 strength. Best regards!
Angus Moore, there's no reason, just tradition. A lot of horn and clarinet players use some vibrato playing at the orchestra, it depends of the taste of the musician and the repertoire.

Wait never mind 😂
Thanks for watching! Of course, practice a lot...every day, and do not assume that clarinet is bass clarinet. 😊
I love the ligature, I find that particular style of ligature better agrees with my embouchure.
Holo Teh, thanks for watching and comment!
I wish I knew what kind of mouthpiece you are using
Michael Smith, hi. It's a modified Vandoren B40. Thanks for watching.
DAVID MELLA the best way to know is to test out a few! High registered becomes a lot easier with hardware reeds, so you'll probably a more closed mouthpieces. Try a vandoren m15 to start?
What reed strength are you using? I prefer a V21 4.5-5 or V 12 4 myself
Hello Holo Teh, in this video Vandoren V12 4 strength
SeBassclarinet Vandoren is my favorite. Rico makes me a sad man
Your tone sounds so pure. What mouthpiece are you using, and what reed strength?
Hello Tempest, thanks for your comment. I use a modified b40 Vandoren mouthpiece and in this recording with Vandoren reeds V12 4 strength. Best regards!
Sounds like a flute at 6:25!!
Fortunately it is still a bass clarinet 😁
Thanks for watching!
Which model bass clarinet do you play?
Hi Constantin, thanks for watching. In this video, I play with a Buffet Crampon "Prestige".
What an interesting intro

I knew I bought a sub woofer for a reason
Do I hear v i b r a t o
Angus Moore, hi. Yes, sometimes I use some vibrato.
Sebastian Tozzola is there a reason clarinets, bass clarinet, and horn don't use vibrato in a classical orchestra?
Angus Moore, there's no reason, just tradition. A lot of horn and clarinet players use some vibrato playing at the orchestra, it depends of the taste of the musician and the repertoire.
日本人結構いるw
他の楽器に憧れはあるけど、結局どれがいいって言われたら、消去法でバスクラになる
