You should try 2.2 SkyactiveD AWD model Bobby. It has punchy torque at low rpm, hence it doesn't feel heavy. As for driving dynamic, i have to agree that it doesn't CX-5 dynamic.
Thanks for the review, Bobby. My family consists of 6 members, we're looking for a 7 seater SUV that's more spacious than the x-trail and my dad has been waiting videos about the cx8 from you guys for your verdict. Hope this will convince him some more to get it, we're test driving the mid plus spec, which is a spec higher than the one you reviewed, the 6 seater version.
You may consider Kia Grand Carnival, power, spacious and comfortable, same price range.

@@ruennchailai yeaa, as mentioned. The Carnival isn't a SUV, my family prefers the SUV segment more than the MPV. Plus, we've an experience with the first gen CX5, so this CX8 really got my dad's interest.

Dont go to Mazda Bkt Dukung, Kajang. They made it compulsory to take insurance from Berjaya Sompo, which only offers conventional package. Checked with few other Mazda dealers, we actually can opt for other Insurance/Takaful provider.
You can also try evoclubinsurance.com which allows you to buy by mileage separately

Our spec is different here in the Philippines. We own one and there are only 2 variants, Signature (7 seater) and Exclusive (6 seater). The only difference is the seating and radar cruise control being absent in the Signature.

Yes, but there's also the 2.2 variable geometry turbo diesel variant which has 400+ nm of torque which is more powerful than the 2.4 N/A that you reviewed, and santa fe's driving dynamics are also a lot better...it has a great platform

For my own drive, definitely the CX8, for my own family, definitely the Vellphards. ahha but if i had to buy one, I'd go for the CX8 because i just don;t like the look of those breadvans :)

Having test drive recently. Now still thinking to get CX8 2.2 diesel or CX9 wth 2.5 turbo ... I really need power & space. Maybe bobby can advise me..
I prefer the CX9 by a fair bit margin. That car rides like a proper premium SUV. It's even quieter than XC90 but i reckon the third row isn't as comfy as CX8 if i remember correctly.

You should feel the actual car response with those load...
Other car review hardly carry enough load. Uncle Kong once was asked to bring extra ppl during his car review so that his response will not be limited to his feel driving alone.

Actually quite big. More than 700 litres after 3rd row folding down is practically big compare to Santa Fe or Sorento.
So CX-9 is more fun to drive than CX-8, ok then.

Depends. Outright capabilities vag can build crazy stuffs .. but for lower end cars like jetta, tiguan, mazda beats them on quality and build and use of materials

Again im saying, Mazda line up is confusing, not practical, from mazda 3 to cx9, all premium with no clear guidelines, blurred line between each of their model.Its like they throwing their lineup to us. Oh wait, is it premium anymore??
