Amber weather warning for snow in northern England extended to Monday ► www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jan/05/heavy-snow-disrupts-travel-in-england-and-wales-as-airports-close-runways
Actually it was 4 inches deep in my town 7 miles away from Manchester. My son was flying to Dublin today his plane was over an hour late waiting for the snow to be cleared it was quite deep at the airport I went out and looked at the runways
Absolutely pathetic, who ever is in charge of snow clearing please go to Ted Stevens airport in Anchorage Alaska and see how it’s done, they have well over 15 foot of snow a year. With Temperatures of -10 or colder. And the airport has never closed due to bad weather or cold, Manchester airport should never have closed just very poor management, The same with any other airport that closed over the last few weeks.
Weren't both airports demonstrating just how well prepared they are for normal weather conditions experienced in this part of the world. What a joke these buffoons are
I get that people won't generally prepare for snow in regards to cars and buses etc but I find it odd that a major international airport with advanced weather reports can't handle a bit of snow. I know it doesn't happen often but really, c'mon on.
How often does it snow in Canada and Norway? How often does it snow in England? Instead of trying to be funny, why not learn about global climates, how a small island has different weather to a large continent. But, no, you've just got to jump on the tired, old, ignorant bandwagon.
@@dougaltolan3017 have a wee sulk, and then write to your MP about how people on the internet are "ignorant"😭 The annual risk of snowy weather is high enough in the UK that it shouldn't come as such a shock to the whole system as it is each and every time, was the point I was making. This isn't the desert.
We didn't 'grind to a halt'... It's just preparing the runway and managing the small amount of disruption it caused. Planes still operated, just delayed a bit, that's all

The guys face as he was trying to get the car straight was total surprise. Like it's -2 outside and you can see the frost on the road pal.

No amounts of snow will stop the invasion ! The UK government will funnel resources into ensuring these illegal parasites continue to flood in no matter what .
"Heavy snow" didn't disrupt anything, it was the lack of prepations. Other airports around the world can operate just fine with a meter of snow or more, but British airports have problems with one cm of snow. A few years ago there was a case of snow being blamed for massive delays when there was so little snow you couldn't see it.
This country is a shambles, 2 flakes of snow and flights stop. There are countries where they might get a couple feet of snow, the snow plough is out all night working to get things all clear for the morning, it's not complicated.
i know the uk doesn’t really get that much snow but this is nothing, why is every other country able to operate but the uk isn’t when there is barely 2 inches of snow
Honestly 6 inch of snow and the entire country comes to a halt this afternoon 2.10 pm the roads where clear but buses were being cancelled any excuse will do in Britain
My flight to Torino got delayed by about an hour and a half. The next flight to torino after that which should've left 10 mins after mine got delayed by 8 or so hours. I got very lucky
@Thebritshnationlist-unttp-UE look at a map. You'll see Denmark is south of Norway😂 Don't you have a map of the world in ya head? Wow 😂 you know..that big globe thing ya live on😂
