Thank you everyone for your comments last time! I had so much fun putting this together. Special shoutout to Jannica and all of you who suggested that I give this Studio Ghibli foods cooking challenge a try ❤️ Leave a comment below to let me know what other cooking challenges you want to see! ALSO - since a lot of you have been asking, the link for where to buy the ramen I used for Ponyo, and the candy from Grave of The Fireflies is now up in the video description!!
How about the next time you make some of your favourite foods that makes you nostalgic. Maybe something from when you were young and it still holds a lot of significant or a Hong Kong staple? :)
During the lock down in Norway, me and my boyfriend had special "food trips" every week. We "travelled" to France, Japan, Greece, the US, Spain, Italy. For our France day we started with a croissant, had crepes and mussels. We even "dressed up" : it was pouring rain outside, but we wore our most summery closes, and some sunscreen (for the whole experience). It was so much fun! Maybe this is something you could do too. 24h of one country
I’m surprised, it’s an amazing movie. But I think people don’t really say that it’s their favourite because it’s so sad and the storyline makes people cry. Or maybe because they associate it with sadness and other happier ones come to mind first.
Her vibe makes her seem like she is the nicest person ever. One of the realest, hands down low-key and casual video series made nowadays and makes it a joy to watch. Keep it up, Inga!!! Much love from India.
The story behind the sweet old lady making Kiki her cake always makes me cry because it reminds me of my grandma when she was still alive. She always tried to talk to me on my birthday and sent me cards. Now I wanna watch Kiki's delivery service
I remember the first time we watched Ponyo years and years ago, we paused it at the part where the mom made ramen and made our own instant noodles to eat while watching the rest of the movie. :)
Idk why I laughed so hard when she said “Porco Russo” I’m italian, and the movie it’s called “Porco Rosso” (“Red Pig”) but saying “russo” instead of “rosso” is “russian pig” And the movie doesn’t make sense at all now with this title 😂
Great idea but knowing how the internet is i can just imagine the comments saying wht she did wrong because the people from tht country knows best. Ive seen negative comments like tht for ppl simply tasting food from diff countries so idk 😭
Yes, it's Classic Glazed Carrots. You slice the carrots diagonally, sautée in butter and brown sugar. Add salt and white pepper. Then add chicken broth and reduce until everything is cooked. There are variants of this recipe and different ways to make classic sauteéd glazed vegetables. Classic vegetable dishes are easy to make and pretty good! As Alvin Zhou loves browned butter, that's also a classic way to bring so much flavor in simple dishes. :)
honestly i kinda want a part 2 of this video 😂 this was sooo good and absolutely perfect but i just know there’s a crazy amount of other dishes to make! i’ve always wanted to see someone make the fish pie from kiki’s delivery service, and also the breakfast toast from the cat returns
"Graveyard of the Fireflies" is great like, "Schindler's List" is. Amazing film but you're mentally exhausted by the end. Never been able to watch either more than once. :)
Agreed. I watched Grave of the Fireflies years ago and and it wrecked me. Cried for 2 days straight. I recommend it to all of my friends but refused to watch it again. My heart can't take another viewing of this movie. I still remember everything, so I'm good.
@@AnimatedNomi, had to believe that the studio that created Graveyard of the Fireflies also created Kiki's Delivery Service. Have you seen all their movies?
i got chills when you said grave of the fireflies is your favorite ghibli film. it's especially unique for me cause i myself have experienced war and its consequences (still am actually). watching it made me even more depressed than i actually was but also made me feel like i was not alone and helped me be stronger. it's a masterpiece, and when you relate to a masterpiece it becomes so special.
Literally just watch My Neighbour Totoro this morning and I certainly don't regret it - amazing movie. Spirited away and Howl's moving castle is very close to my heart too
I use maple syrup instead but it’s another natural sugar syrup so pretty similar. I’m not a fan of the strong honey flavour so only really cook with it

that challenge was so fun to watch! I hope you also make and eat foods from any Makoto Shinkai anime films next. this episode about Studio Ghibli made me reminisce about the beautiful films I've watched, and remember those I haven't and still on my watch list. now I want to watch them because of your video. with that being said, thank you for the hard work and amazing content as always, Inga!
this is the first time i'm watching your videos and i gotta say you have such a pleasant persona, your voice is so soft and relaxing, it's a treat to watch what you're doing
For those trying this at home, for the Porco Russo dish, I'd recommend tossing your steamed carrots in some butter, and then seasoning with salt, black pepper, and some fresh parsley. Or, if you really want to just elevate the flavor of the dish, you can also experiment with infusing your fat of choice with aromatics and/or replacing the black pepper with white pepper. Whatever you do, tossing steamed carrots in a very simple fat compound and adding seasoning will greatly improve them, and personally is one of my favorite ways to eat veggies.

Okay Inga! All of this food looks just as good as Studio Ghibli makes it look. Honestly, I wanted that red bean bun immediately and I've made a new goal to figure out how to make them for my daughter.
