You should check out the D&D cookbook ‘Heroes Feast’! Towards the back of the book, there’s a whole host of cocktails to try out!
As a huge D&D nerd, I'm ALL FOR keeping Greg's Groggs on the road!
no, when you do game drinks that never existed in the real world and don't have a fomula my wife and I don't bother watching.
Yes please!!
@GravesRWFIA Your loss
The fact that Greg was referenced in the D&D movie is fucking amazing.
Yeah, now I definitely want to buy the movie.
Wait how? I've seen the movie twice but don't remember anything like that. (I also just started the video, so this could just be a bit that I'll discover later lol)
@@jaysabol1821 yeah, you’ll see it.
The fact that he got an email from the production designer themselves is bonkers
@@taptemple6428 The movie is not bad at all
Greg’s Grogs will be a new tavern/school in my D&D games. “We offer an academic approach to inebriation, an opportunity to learn, as it were, how to drink.”
So happy that you are now canon, and I hope you get a cameo in the sequel.
Same. I'm pretty sure as of this episoide Greg's Grogs has become a multiversal chain of drink stands.
Greg's Grogs will now feature in every single dnd game I run, it will be another multiversal shop like Guy Macvers Magic Shops (sells wacky magic items with misleading names and effects)
If it was dlc that added it to the lower city, that would be awesome.
I have never thought of riffing on something so quick as Gregg's Grogs. Every piece of it is just swimming in character and there's so many little threads you can tie to this one guy. Like, how would a mixologist get so many ingredients? This is getting added for sure.
The bardic college where you learn to forget.
12:41 I genuinely started getting teary-eyed at the reveal that Greg is now Forgotten Realms canon. That’s so sweet and wonderful of the production design team.
Headcanon: Greg's Groggs was founded by Ranger Greg who got lost in **insert favourite national park** and fell through a portal to the Sword Coast.
This is very Dungeon's and Daddies
@@howtodrink Guest star when????? Plus I really wanna know what cocktail you'd make for Glenn Close, or if you brew your own beer for Darryl!
I’d watch that show
BRB adding Greg and his grogs to my campaign
Clearly the Fey Wanderer sub for all that realm hopping
Stagswift is a riff on the Scottish tonic wine Buckfast, brewed by real life monks in England. Buck being a male deer so Stag and Swift being the fast part. Its loaded with caffine as well!!
I was about to say as he was describing it. Thats Buckfast. Just straight Buckfast from the bottle, that's the cocktail.
Buckfast isn’t Scottish. It’s made in lower Devon county in England.
It’s also hilarious that despite being a church amaro like Chartreuse or Benedictine it’s involved in like 48% of violent crime in Scotland
@@lushedleshendude literally said it's made in England, however culturally it's defo Scottish
Wreck the hoose juice
@@JimBeansSaloonCreamthe OG comment was edited. No idea if that was the reason, but it's a fair guess.
You know what? Greg's Grogs is definitely in my Forgotten Realms campaigns now.
Might even migrate planes to other settings for flavor.
It's a franchise operation. All the Grogger's have to wear the assigned uniform and answer to the name "Greg" despite most likely hating this.
*Scribles down note from behind the GM screen* @@howtodrink
@@howtodrinkdefinitely adding Greg’s Groggs to Ank’harel in my play through of Call of the Netherdeep next week
I've been doing a Greg impression for a tavern keeper for years, maybe it's time for him to rebrand.
@@howtodrink Hear me out,why not a Officer Jenny/Nurse Joy situation, each franchise is a clone/duplicate of the original Greg
A Mother's Loathing, Broken Promises, Faltering Will, Heart of Stone, Insanity's Kiss, Lost Time, Lover's Avarice, Missing Pets, Wilted Dreams are all of auntie Ethels potions...that could be drinks!
Yeah planned as a followup to this one if it does well enough to justify it
@@howtodrink Did it reach the threshold?
I LOVE that Greg is making drinks he likes again! Always feel awful when he forces himself to imbibe horrible drinks. Can’t wait to see more D&D cocktails!
For BG3 potions that could be used as a theme for drinks, I'd suggest Auntie Ethel's unique potions. Those all have fun names and the flavor of them being made by an ancient hag adds to the vibe. Those and tadpole elixir, since tadpoles are the main 'thing' in BG3.
MORE D&D EPISODES
Greg's Grogs will now be a franchise in every single one of my homebrew campaigns
I love that if you're a barbarian and you choose to drink the oblivion you get advantage on con saves and everyone approves but if you're a bard every fully is like "are you an idiot? Do you have a death wish?" The details in this game are perfection
If you're a Cleric you can get advantage by offering prayers to your God as you drink!
@mattd5857 that's amazing! The freaking details!!
Everyone approves if you're a druid too!
Congratulations on becoming part of Forgotten Realms lore, and they should include you in the next movie and I think it would be awesome to have you show up to voice in some upcoming games. I would love to see more Greg's Groggs on the channel.
Anyone else think a narration battle between Ms. Tyler and Keith David would make one of the best fantasy intros for a movie or something? like Amelia as Tiamat and Keith as Bahamut
Honestly, it’d be super cool if there were multiple narrators and you could choose which to use at start of game. I’d want Peter Coyote
Holy fucking shit
@@howtodrink Too many video games don't get enough coverage of their dialogue by a country mile, there are some pretty famous stinkers and a lot of large Hams. Devs should seriously start doing stuff like this. It'll give you HOURS of coverage for final cut, it gives the end user a bespoke narrative experience, and it employs more voice actors which is ALWAYS something we should be doing more of!
I can only imagine the force of voice that dragon gods would project.
To have them then squabble over the details of a story like an old couple would be interesting, to say the least.
Although, I can think of a more immediately plausible occasion to explore a relationship in competing narration.
That being Ciaphas Cain and Amberley Vail.
The books present her framing and editing his memoirs around, for example, his romantic escapades, which he also seems to skirt around after meeting her. But you can't fool an Inquisitor/wife now, can you?
The books are relatively subtle. A game need not be so coy.
Definitely make more DND drinks, classic healing potions or berserker potions could make some really simple fun drinks for people running their own campaigns so I bet you can get a lot of mileage out of it and have lots of fun
I remember a healing potion episode from last year.
he's done generic potions already
@@havokmusicincno I actually haven’t, I’ve avoided it for ideological reasons but I’m rethinking my position on that
@@howtodrinki mean if having an alcoholic "healing potion" is an issue, you could do a variation on a Shirley Temple by adding bitters or subbing the ginger ale or what have you
@@howtodrink Even if something like a healing potion is so common as to be almost meaningless, some of the less common potions have much more interesting descriptions that would be more fun and give you more to work with. The Potion of Climbing "is separated into brown, silver, and gray layers resembling bands of stone." The Potion of Heroism "bubbles and steams as if boiling." The Potion of Mind Reading is a "purple liquid [that] has an ovoid cloud of pink floating in it." You can just flip open your DMG to the potions and take your pick.
I love the side quests his ramblings go on.
Example: POG juice is named for the first letter of the fruits it is made of. Pineapple Orange Guava. Greg goes on a verbal sidequest about the collectable disks, the game associated with them, where they originated and his tiny foray into collecting them. 😂
Love you, Greg! Love the show! Love the drinks! ❤
Gah! I thought for sure it was passion fruit
@@howtodrinkcould be a variant, maybe? Make some w/ each fruit, in their own batches....just might surprise yourself
@@howtodrink Actually, you could be right. Passion fruit is a variant of POG juice. 🤔
The P in POG is 100% Passion Fruit
When I lived in Hawaii it was Passion Orange Guava. The POGs were originally milk caps from the old bottled milk in the 20s and 30s. Kids played with them and they became a hit so they started printing them separately from the bottles. I have an original POG from when they started distributing the drink on Oahu in 1991.
I never played or knew any D&D before BG3, and I also never could get into isometric RPGs. It still ended up becoming one of my favorite games of all time.
Same here, it's an absolute masterpiece of a game. Have been playing a co-op campaign with co-workers, which has been a blast. We've all stopped our single-player games so we don't outrun the plot of the group game.
You should play Planescape Torment. Best CRPG of all time.
Same here, but the wine is irritating the hell out of me because I cannot find any real info on it. Yes it's a camp supply, but it has a bonus action and the descriptions resemble fire, frost, portals, even bard melodies. I read some can give you HP or buffs but which ones and how. Drinking doesn't seem to do anything.
@@digthathole5521 then you find Hoot’s Hooch 😂
ive never played a dnd game but bg3 is legitimately everything ive ever wanted from a video game
if you enjoyed it then give Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 a try, they were also made by larian studios and are really fun with all of the crazy shenanigans you can do
Amelia Tyler's narration is brilliant and the outtake videos are some of the funniest things I've heard in a long time.
Cinnamon was originally just Cinnamomum verum, Ceylon cinnamon. The inner bark, that's the spice, is thinner than in the other plants grown to produce cinnamon, that are collectively called cassia. C verum has a much more delicate and floral taste than cassia. If your primary experience with the spice is in baked goods and in using the powdered stuff than C verum may not be to your liking. It lacks that in your face cinnamon taste of cassia.
I was waiting for Hoots’ Hooch!! Very curious to see what you think would go into a drink that causes wild magic surges.
And theres even more iconic drinks in Baldurs Gate 3! Hoot's Hooch from Sharess' Caress. Slow Spout ale from the Duergar in Grymforge. And quite a few more that are scattered around Act 3.
"with two dashes og angustora bitters" *puts in three dashes*
Most on brand HTD ever
Greg's Grogs forever! Do as many episodes of D&D drinks as your heart desires. Tip my hat to the new "NPC" Greg!
Heroes' Feast (the official D&D cookbook) has a section for beverages and cocktails - I would love to see you try some and figure out how you would improve them!
I have D&D's Heroes Feast cookbook; as well as The Dungeonmeister and The Elder Scrolls official cookbook. I tried contacting Greg to send him copies, or at least links to them; but I never heard back from the very busy man. I'm also certain he already has these books. 😀
both the D&D Cookbook and the Final Fantasy 14 cook book agree that healing potions are Gin cocktails and that amuses me probably more than it really should
As somebody who has only recently gotten into DnD at the ripe old age of 30 I think this is great and you should absolutely do more! I would love to see you make Hoots Hooch from Sharess' Caress!
Halsin approves of your drinking and stories!! Druid Daddy knows what's up. Also, YES PLEASE DEAREST GREG OF THE GROGS, MORE D&D!
Bring some more drinks from not only D&D, but other TTRPGs! Shadowrun? (You already did Cyberpunk!)👌
I just recently downloaded the PDF for the sourcebook for the Monty Python RPG that I backed on Kickstarter. Think we could use some drinks based on MP?
Second the Monty Python suggestion
@@gamemasteranthony2756 I'd love to see what his take on the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch would be!
@@thestraydog “You shalt count the number of ounces of liquor to 3. Three shall be the number to reach…and the number you shall reach is three.”
I pogged when he pulled out the pog juice, that stuff is actual nectar sent from the gods. Would definitely watch a full video of pog juice cocktails
Pog juice and lemon lime soda(Sprite) is one of my go-to drinks when I can get the juices together
“Unless you hate this”
Greg, your DnD and video game drinks are my favorite ones you’ve made! You never disappoint! Also the reference to you in the movie is actually the coolest thing EVER!!!
Just checking in, but is Meredith okay? Haven't seen her in an episode in a while, she's great just making sure everything is good
I'm far from the most up to date, but she and her wife were aiming for a baby - all being well, she may be on parental leave! (Edited per reply below)
Yeah pretty sure they mentioned her not being able to taste drinks because she was pregnant a little while back so hopefully happily a mother now and handling that.
@@yochva For future reference: "by far" means the opposite of "far from," which I believe is what you meant here.
Please make a drink for each of the companions in BG3
Or one for each alignment.
I’d love that
So glad to see "That's Headley!" as a note. That's exactly what comes to my mind every time you call a drink heady! Great episode, really enjoyed your take on some BG3 drinks!
Greg’s Grogs is for sure now in my Sword Coast setting games, and this nailed the subscribe button for me too. Best of luck in your future DnD videos, as I shall be watching!
I love D&D, Baldur's Gate 3, Pathfinder etc love how he's doing drinks from this setting & other fictional media. Honestly surprised there aren't any videos about the drinks from Deep Rock Galactic.
If I ever get the nerve to DM a game, there will 100% be at least one Greg's Grogs stall in my game. That's so cool that someone thought of you and your show when they were making the movie!
Would love to see you take on dragon drinks. Like a copper dragon being an Arabic spiced Moscow mule in a copper cup. Or something like that. Would be an fun addition to Greg's Grog's sports bar locations
I still really love the old D&D drinks episode from 3 years ago, so I'm excited to get more! Fingers crossed we get some campaign stories
Yes, more D&D content!! Love these! Not just because I'm a huge D&D nerd, either, but also whenever you do an episode related to it it's so much fun.
I'm so happy you did Frothing Duergar!
Good for you, Greg! How excited you were telling us about, Greg's grogs, so wholesome and heartwarming 😊 very happy for you
go figure Gregs not sleepin on BG3 lol. this games my new addiction lately, with over 200 hours into it already.
I don't even drink, but I've been watching since you had Brennan on for the Double Death Commando, and I adore all your nerdy dives into video game drinks! (Also those weird real orders videos 🤣) Would LOVE to see more d&d content! Ethel is my favorite 😂
Gotta love the Blazing Saddles reference in the notes for the Fireswill!
14:33 gregs grogs, thats so cool, good luck with it, and keep the D&D drinks flowing they are some of my favourite.
Yo, i love your DnD drinks mini-series and having this stall as a refference on the DnD movie was amazing! Honestly I cant wait for more DnD drinks or potions or whatever you plan on showing us! Much love from Greece
LOVE the D&D stuff! excited to see more. great drinks, great concept, great video my friend. love everything you do.
Please, please. PLEASE! Do more of these!
Huge yes to all your D&Drink ideas
I love the DND content. I can't wait to see more of Greg's grog's
I would adore more of Greg's Grogs!!! Please let me spice up my worlds with your presence and beverages!
Great idea for my bucket list cocktails
I'm SO happy there's a bg3 video! I'd love to see signature drinks for the characters if you feel so inspired
So RE: Greg’s Groggs
CONGRATS!! Now…what do we need to do to get you into the sequel? I mean…if MatPat can have a cameo in the FNAF movie…
Also…Oblivion. I didn’t realize BG3 crossed over with Elder Scrolls…
Loving the D&D content. BG3 is an epic game
I adore BG3, so thanks for the video! Love the last drink relating to that scene! It was epic to play through
14:27 we actually love it please do more
For more D&D stuff, I think it'd be cool if you were to try to create a drink representing the prominent cities, nations, or people (could all be different episodes tbh)
Look, we're not EVIL, ok? We're just healthily suspicious of our surface-dwelling cousins for abandoning us to the squids and then not even having the DECENCY to apologize!
Bro the duergar are torturing slave masters, they’re cartoonishly evil
The frothing duergar is truly excellent.
Love the Mel Books reference that snuck in there.
What would it take for you to Take a Sip of the Sandkheg's Hide If its still in that bottle
Sadly, that bottle is empty. the Hide has *no* shelf life.
hey greg why has there been no midnight local releases? i loved it so much
I love D&D and it's awesome they included a nod to you in the movie!
Would definitely love to see more D&D content! These types of roleplaying drink videos are awesome!
I think "Greg's Grogs" needs to see about getting a stall in every "Gilmore's Glorious Goods". But, I know there is the "Hero's Feast" D&D official book that has some drinks in it. I also know that I bought one that has a bunch of D&D based drinks in it too. I will find the title and edit this comment. Would love to see some more D&D drinks.
Also, I think Greg, in D&D, would be a Dwarf. Purely because of the +2 CON and Dwarven Resilience....but maybe I'm wrong....
I was def one of those chatters bugging you to do this ep during one of your livestreams and I appreciate you figuring out how to make the episode work despite there not being much to work with in the source material.
Edit: I got bottles of Mr. Black and Wray & Nephew in my cabinet, wasn't exactly how I planned to start my Sunday but why the hell not lmao
I love Greg’s Grogs!! That’s so awesome that the movie included it just for you and I might even find a way to include it in my own homebrew world!
i love that you are a nerd like us! Always love the game tie-ins.
I LOVE the idea of more DnD drinks!
Very cool! Was hoping you’d do this one, what a rad time.
so cool that people on the d&d production like this show!!! keep kickin ass
.ore just more videos especially drinks from games and cinema i absolutely love this channel and find myself rewatching so many of videos
Greg, I am but one simple fan out of many but I want to let you know that I would absolutely NEVER hate you combining one of my favorite RUclips comfort shows with D&D.
Hope you do another episode of this, because I need to see how you'd handle Hoots' Hooch.
Putting you in some background scene as Greg from Greg's Grogs would be a really cool reference. I always love when movies does small things like that, where you sit in the cinema and suddenly think "wait, I know that reference!"
This is so cool! New faves 🌞 more D&D content, absolutely here for it!
YES the dnd content!
I enjoyed that the oblivion drink had "purple wyrm toxin" as the description
Greg, I am so happy for you! What an incredible Easter Egg!!
Loved this episode!
Congratz on getting into the lore, that is really awsome
YES! More of this!
I love this quality content. More pls
This is great, good work dude. Love Greg's grogs
Lots of fun, looking forward to more D&D drinks!
Always love seeing DnD content from you. The legend of Greg's Groggs shall continue!
I know a bunch of people are saying this, but as a ten year forgotten realms DM, I'm ABSOLUTELY adding you into games, that's such a blast. Every bartender from here on out is named Greg, I will never have to make a grab for a random name again.
Oh that looks amazing! We are 100% doing that in our next session!
I've been waiting for this one!
Yessssss, the Frothing Duergar! I've been waiting for someone to create that one! Well, that and a Blood Lust, but one fantasy cocktail at a time. 🍻
I mean, everyone else has already said it, but it's absolutely incredible they've thrown a reference to you into the movie. Congratulations on officially Making It!
Definitely on my list of RUclipsrs to dm for. You’re one of the best personalities on this site
I don't really drink much anymore, but I still watch your videos all the time. Your personality and unique approach to drinking is just really good content.
Our campaign is sober but I still love themed drinks!
This episode was a lot of fun - definitely wouldn't complain about more DND content in the future! ❤
So cool that you’re referenced in the movie!!! *explodes in joy* 😊
Great episode
I would love love LOVE more dnd themed drinks!!!!!! I always want to make fun drinks when I’m playing with my buds and it would be awesome
Love this! Yes more!
YES! more DND content! I for one would love to see what your take on the potions would be. My group likes to drink while we play and we always thought it would be fun to have to physical drink an alcoholic drink whenever we take a potion in game. What do you think would be good to serve a player taking a health potion? perhaps a potion of storm giant strength?
been waiting for this one
