Tarnum looked over at the portal, the world he grew around and shaped him burning away like leaves by the bonfire.
He was ready to die, he thought. He gave his entire live to preserve this world, several lifetimes of it in fact. He was a barbarian leader, a hero, a villain, a repentant knight, a reluctant wizard. He tamed beast and men alike, and made peace along with war with the dragons.
He saved and destroyed in equal measure, but ultimately failed in his quest. He was content, in his defeat; but for a little child's eye gleaming in terror and memories unfulfilled. That he could not abide by.
So he went along with him. Like all other children, he saw himself in him. The same urge to intervene in life, the same fears of inadequacy. He was not ready, and if experience served, perhaps he never would. Nothing would ever be the same. The great cities of old Bracaduun, the vast and wondrous forests of AvLee, and the stoic glory of Erathia; all were consumed under the flames. None of the days would ever return. And yet, this child had dared to act. Dared to *hope*. Not idly, he thought. The people had not given up to turn the page yet again.
For Tarnum, it was enough. Just to turn the page yet again.

This game was a huge part of my childhood when I was younger. My dad and I would spend hours making maps and playing the game. I recently installed it on my crappy laptop and now my best friends and I play it a lot. They had never heard of it before, but they love it. It brings me back, ya know?
