    Just gonna quickly say, while I love this series, the real reason Duke is number 8 is because the Talyllyn had their own number 7 at that point that was probably on the SKR too but never shown. It was a small tractor that was converted to run on rails. It basically did Toby/Mark V's job of doing maintenance runs on the line and also shunting at the raised wharf. It was scrapped just after Duke the Lost Engine was published.

    Very nice look into how you work! There are some tricks you used that I wished I knew about before leaving my series, such as the markers to make the engines stop in the right place and the joystick for the eyes.
    I notice we have different approaches when it comes to music. We have the same idea that music enhances the seen. Though, I notice you leave most of the scene music free for dialogue, mostly in serious scenes. I often use music to enhance the mood of the scene, with little moments of no music. Just an observation.
    Seeing this makes me want to get back into filming! (I doubt I will though...)

    You know you have demonstrated how good it is to film in trainz and that inspired me in someway.
    However it is unlikely anytime soon I could make a trainz series regarding Thomas since I’m a fan and I am more an artist seeing I created my first own RWS fictional character Eustace I may look at oneday creating more oc’s in future in art specially Thomas related if whenever time progresses,
    I would really love to make a RWS Trainz Series and have several new characters of mine including oc Eustace the Class 24 Sulzer Type 2 for Brendam Branch Line and then like have Western Trooper later Desmond the Class 52 Western for the Arlesbrough Branch Line and specially The Wild-Nor-Wester express and my oc Sedgwick the Class 02 based at Ffarquhar in my universe, he works as the yard shunter to help with Thomas, Toby, Percy or Mavis or Daisy specially with goods and passengers as backup or in case of a breakdown or can shunt their carriages like Annie and Clarabelle and specially Henrietta and Elsie and later on Victoria specially.
    Since I come up with characters in my multiverse in a different multiverse compare to the rest of the fandom it would make much common sense to be respectful to others fictions,
    Also I can give a little backstory that Eustace has a similar personality basis to Hayase Nagatoro from the series Don’t Toy with me Miss Nagatoro that I’m currently into and I’m watching English dub of,
    Eustace often works multiple on Brendam with BoCo most occasions or by himself weather freight or passenger which helps,
    And I’m looking forwards to when you released more episodes of The Phantom Train and etc.

      Also, I know you've probably got the general storyline of all your remaining episodes worked out, or sketched at least, but this is an interesting idea I've just has that I thought you might like to play around with a bit: In a nutshell, it's to do with modernisation. The first episode in the arc would revolve around Pip and Emma, with this being a loose script of the first scene, at Tidmouth Sheds, or wherever Pip and Emma's shed is nowadays:
      PIP: We might be being replaced soon...
      GORDON: Why ever so?
      EMMA: The Other Railway have complained to the Fat Controller that we're too slow.
      PIP: Yeah, apparently we hold up their big Pendolino expresses...
      GORDON: How can you be too slow? You're faster than me for crying out loud!
      EMMA: I guess it's something to do with this new tilting technology the expresses have nowadays...
      GORDON: Tilting technology?
      PIP: I think it means they can go round corners faster than we can...
      WORKMAN: It probably doesn't help also that those Pendolinos can go at 140mph...
      GORDON: 140mph??? How fast can you two go again?
      EMMA: 125mph...
      GORDON: Oh... So what would happen if you two got replaced?
      PIP: If we're lucky, a heritage railway might take us...
      EMMA: If we're unlucky... Well, I think you know what that means.
      FAT CONTROLLER: It won't just be you two affected if they replace the two of you... That's why I've been pushing back against the Other Railway for the past few years now...
      GORDON: What do you mean it won't just be them who're affected?
      FAT CONTROLLER: Well, since Pip and Emma are the fastest diesel engines in existence, to replace them would involve electrification...
      EMMA: You mean those wires that run above the track on the Mainland?
      FAT CONTROLLER: Yeah, and the mainline would need it's curves smoothened out, so as to allow 140mph operation. Both of these combined we can't afford, never mind the fact we'd need to upgrade all our rolling stock and engines to Other Railway standards...
      GORDON: I'm guessing that's the mainline engines only? (Hopefully)
      FAT CONTROLLER: I'm afraid not. It'd be every single engine. And with The Other Railway being The Other Railway, they're not willing to pay a single shilling towards these upgrades, hence why I am not going to accept their plans any time soon!
      From there, I haven't quite figured out who caves to the other's pressure, The Fat Controller or the Other Railway, but I think this and it's ramifications either way would make for a very interesting story line.

    Very informative! One would think you worked on the set of the classic series. Hey, two questions. Your SKR route and Crovan’s Gate yard, did you download them from somewhere or did you make them? Also, do you have a whole Island of Sodor in one route or are parts of it like the Northwestern Railway and SKR separate?

    • @WildNorWester
      @WildNorWester  3 года назад +2

      The routes are more or less separate. I've got different ones for the mainline (which includes Thomas and Edwards' branchlines), one for the Little Western, etc. As for the SKR route, it's actually both. Cam Jones of Crovans Gate Works allowed me to use his RWS Crovans Gate and Lakeside Loop routes as part of an RWS SKR route - I made the rest of it myself. So these downloaded routes were each end, and I filled in the middle.

    Do you ever have instances where you have to cheat a bit to get the desired results for some of the scenes or do some camera trickery to save production time much like only focusing the frame on what’s actually relevant while giving the illusion there’s more going on than what you actually see?

    Awesome! Will you be rereleasing the models with controller support included? And if not, are people allowed to add it themselves?

      I don't plan to, as those are Trainz 2019 compatible only. I don't mind people adding it themselves, however.

      @@WildNorWester excuse me but there are some things that you missed how can you uncouple the engines from the rolling stock and how can you put miniature gauge and narrow gauge engines on standard gauge flat trucks

    • @SheffieldNo14Productions
      @SheffieldNo14Productions 3 года назад +1

      @@quarrylocomotiveproduction5439 uncoupling engines from rolling stock can be done in both the Driver and Surveyor interface of TRS19. As for loading engines onto flatbeds, that has two different solutions. The first one requires both engine and flatbed to be stationary, and you do this by adding a line of invisible track and aligning it to the flatbeds, so that when you place an engine on the invisible track it looks like it’s on the flatbed. The second method needs you to create an entire new asset coded to be able to be loaded onto flatbeds. This would require the original mesh, which WildNorWester doesn’t give out.

      @WildNorWester  2 года назад

      @@SheffieldNo14Productions I usually do a variation on the second approach. I've done a model of a low-loader flatbed. So if I need an engine to be on there with eye movement, I'll model them on the flatbed and export that whole thing. Allows for scripting, etc. to be used.

    I dont know why but something just got me thinking whilst watching this video and the comments here feel like the bedt place to put it. So in the RWS Ivo Hugh is based on the IRL Tom Rolt. But Tom Rolt is not a 100% new engine as far as I am aware. Its a very heavy rebuild and modification on an old Irish locomotive. Now I dont know how much of the origional loco is still a part of Tom Rolt. But my main thought is that could this be the same as Ivo Hughs build? Was Ivo Hugh previously another engine? Or unlike Tom Rolt was he built completly from scratch?

    • @WildNorWester

      The impression I got was that Ivo Hugh was a new build. That's what I've gone with.

      @@WildNorWester oh which I completly get. Seeing as that has been how he has always been portrayed in his own stories. I was suddenly just curious to the whole idea of it in the RWS. You know like some of those Barry engines that are actully being doners of new builds. Rather than being restorations.
