Thanks for making this. Not all of us have fancy money for circuit cute and printers but we do have packing and “garbage” . This shows everyone that a few simple tools can create really wonderful components.
I have the fancy cuter but I still save that garbage because I don’t have the money for the supplies needed for the fancy cuter…or the hobby, or the other hobbies, or food and bills lol ect!
Love watching videos like this and see that I’m not the only one, who keeps all kind of things for my craft ideas.😃 I use 1mm Polystyrene Sheet I get at hobby lobby for my diorama rooms which I sell.😊
❤Thank you for NOT EDITING OUT YOUR BOO BOO, I am new, and glad to see this happening to a professional. Makes us feel not so bad, and to keep on trying.
Came to your channel for information on integrated LEDs into diaoramas... Loved what I learned and couldn't believe how many little things from our interests and curiousity in similar subjects, the seeing things for what they could become, even that AH-HA!! moment we became aware that mini-modeling can take you to another place-a place where time slows down and the ADHD is harnessed a bit. Here I am 3 or more hours later, just a few hours before I need to be getting to work.... Stuck in the rabbit hole of Oilers Workshop, wondering just how damn hot your wife has to be if your dog is that ugly!? She's gotta be SMOKIN" HOTT... like a full send 12... Love your channel, can't wait to get off work later and soak up more!! JK please don't be offended about your wife, but the dog hit every branch on the way down.. no lie
brilliant video, love that you use recycled stuff and it's all really clearly shown and explained - thank you for showing when things go wrong too! New subbie :)
I really like these windows, especially the one you aged with the mixture of dirty black paint water and orange paint. It looked so realistic after you wiped most of it off, and left a subtle look of rust and ageing. It's amazing what you can do with some old cardboard and plastic packaging. This is what I love about making miniatures. Love from Amanda in Australia
Thank you so much! My first try with windows before this video was carving them out of popsicle sticks, very dangerous and got lightly injured. I love how easy and safe your way is, and I love how talkative you are also!
If you prefer that than do that, I’m not necessarily demonstrating “the most efficient” way for your project, I’m more demonstrating a range of possibilities to help people wrap their minds around how things can be approached.
I enjoyed your video, you explained everything so clearly. I have a question, I am trying to build louvered windows for an old shasta miniature camper, and I can't get it right. Have you built these kind of windows before, I need help.
Yeah sheet styrene works great, it’s a stiffer material that glues in place fast with super glue. It can be cut with scissors also, you might mess with some of that
Yeah, that’s the point, use it to weather too, or remove, experimenting carefully on little bits is the best way to learn on what you’re using specifically
An awesome addition to your tools, rotary cutter used for quilting or paper craft. My hands can't hold an exacto very straight, I wobble it especially for wood. Loved your video ❤.
You are a very good teacher! I'm so glad you showed up in my feed. Couldn't have seen this at a better time, however! I have acquired an old, neglected doll house that needs all new windows! It seemed like a daunting task, but now I feel I can handle it. New sub, here! Thank you for this great video!
I don’t know if you have heard of Tim Holtz but he makes a lot of paints and inks that do great distressing. You should look him up. I just found your videos tonight and now I can’t wait to make some things. Good video.
For me, there are no mistakes. I call them “‘creative opportunities” and many times that change ends up being just what was needed! Love your work and your tutorial. Glad I found your channel. 🤓🖌️🎨
Ok, first up… these are beautiful and I can’t wait to try your techniques on a gabled roof that’s half windows. And secondly… I made stair stringers today, ALL THANKS TO YOU. I’m very grateful. Your math helped me figure out in 1:36 scale… 6” risers / 12” treads / 12’ ceiling height / in 21’ or less. I’m making a model house I’ll probably never be able to build, but can’t get it out of my head… so making it out of cardboard. I’ve never done this before… it’s so much fun. You have the greatest job ever. Thanks for sharing your gifts and expertise. 🙏🏼💞
All I could hear when you were cutting out the openings was, Don't cross the streams! So that window needs to be in a Ghostbusters diorama. Haha. Great how to.
Thanks for making this. Not all of us have fancy money for circuit cute and printers but we do have packing and “garbage” . This shows everyone that a few simple tools can create really wonderful components.
Thanks that’s exactly why I did this

Wow, guess you’re not a fan of yorkie shihtzu mixes…can’t win em all lol
I glad am not the only 1 that saves everything! Would love a rummage in those drawers...its all treasure
Never!
great. but I would try a cricut machine, just saying.
Yeah go for it

Hey! You’re awesome thanks! More styles coming down the road, using wood too
Seems a lot shorter to just make and paint 2 of the first grid piece, then glue then both down rather than using the tape and cutting all the strips.
If you prefer that than do that, I’m not necessarily demonstrating “the most efficient” way for your project, I’m more demonstrating a range of possibilities to help people wrap their minds around how things can be approached.
@@OilersWorkshop gotcha. Just wondered. Keep up the great work!
Thank you

Acetone will eat some plastics!

sprinkle with soda
Yeah
Great job. Very much appreciated. Thanks for sharing 👍
Yep no problem

For 1/6 scale 12" = 6feet so every half inch = 1/2 foot
My bad every 2" equals a foot in 1/6 scale
Yes
Great idea using recycled plastic for windows. That will work great for the garage dio I am working on.
Perfect!

Awesome! Thank you! Don’t be afraid to make framing with balsa wood and wood glue for your dollhouse either
👌😍
😍😍
👍👍👍
Love the video! I’m only a year or two into making dioramas. Always glad to see 1/12 scale videos!
Hey! Thanks! Keep building it never gets old!
Can you prime your cardboard so it won’t soak in? I practice with baseball card sleeves. You can get them in bulk and it’s a good size. Fairly cheep.
Yeah do some testing until you find a result you’re comfortable with, this is all a fluid process
Making this tonight! So rad thanks for doing these videos!
Hey you’re welcome
😂😂😂wrong cap for glue..I did that twice. Loved your teaching, I have learned more here than any other window video. THANK YOU.❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
I'm currently working on a chiesa (church) for our Christmas presepe. Do you have suggestions for "stained glass" windows?

Thank you, yes, he’s great
Thanks for sharing this valuable video. I can't believe all the things I learned in such a short time from a guy I don't know who seems pretty great.
Well thanks
Hi there. As I am quiet new to dioramas and recycling my goodies. I thankyou for a semi basic tutorial. Which really helped me. Cheerz Denise W.A.
Hey no problem
Really informative, & i totally agree with the paint hands. I believe an artist gets their hands dirty!
Thanks and thank you
Thank you great tutorial and I got no fancy machinery etc trying to do dolls house for my grandaughter this is brilliant thank you uk
You’re welcome and thank you
22:00 Oh yes I know what you mean Ive not only cut but literally sliced my finger almost off by not being careful.
Careful
Windows are currently my least favorite things to do. I can't wait to dive into this video later and learn some new techniques! Thanks for posting!
Cool! Yeah they’re tedious but if you slow down and just enjoy it it can be rewarding
Fantastic work, thanks for the tutorial. I really learned a lot in this video.
Awesome

Some real Bob Ross there. Nice.
Parental permission to use a knife? Action figures? Watching you sharpen a pencil? Urgh.
Yeah...
Bet you're fun at parties.
Excellent. Thanks for the thorough explanation.
You’re welcome
