I used to use 20 gauge now I buy a bag of fuzzy "flat" bendy wires from the dollar tree and just burn the fuzzy sh#% off of them. I find the flat bendy wires work the best(for me) for the front of the cape in particular(there's no shifting or poking). I also swapped my scissors for a cutting wheel for my main fabric cuts. just leaving some tips since I've received so many useful ones here and being a fan of the channel in general. Also people...don't be embarrassed to bring a piece of a figure, its cape, etc to a fabric store and ask for help. They're going to pull stuff you wouldn't see even if you spent the day there, match your colors as close to possible and will know if the fabric is worth using. Some may look great and next thing you know the jackets or capes you made are starting to crumble or something
I didnt mention this before but on the bat wing style cape i made for my orange spawn i actually went back and kinda used your collar technique as inspiration to fix it. except i made a thicker shoulder throw that was molded into the shape of the whole collar piece and glued the top part of the collar to that and the skulls i cut and glues them to the fabric throw i molded from the collar and made a thicker chain and used black and red nail polish to give the cape some charred weathering effects and also painted the plastic part of the collar and his straps to match the cape.. next time i will use your idea in whole but i dont want the same spawn figure and im def not opening shadow. i migt see if i can find the older spawn thats mounted to the church wall and do that.
Thank you for your tutorial on Spawn's cape. I had the movie cape in mind when I was building my Spawn blueberry figure, but this is way easier and I can just mod the collar. Kudos!
Thanks for the info! I always wondered how folks were making these bendy wire capes, what type of wire they were using. Down the road I will be making these for sure. Great tips!
@THENEVERDEADIV Don't be cheap. Just get the wire. Foil is not a reliable substitute in this situation. If you're going to do something, you may as well do it all the way correct from the start instead of wasting time.
@@DewDawgReviews @TMan978 scratch that.. unless you got some decent glue.. i tried it on a spare fabric sheet and it was more poseable but it just wouldn't stick.. i did however try something new with pipe cleaners with sewing the pipecleaner to the inside of the cape in 3 sections like how batmans cape has those points at the bottom and think of it as a bat wing how it has bones goinge through it... that worked but my pipe cleaners were the color of the fabric after i burned the fuzz off them.. not all pipe cleaners are painted like that though.
@@THENEVERDEADIV bruh. I know everyone has their own budget… But that bendy wire and fabric glue that I show you in the video, is really inexpensive at Walmart.
@@DewDawgReviews ive used it before but not at 22. The crap i made my older cape with wasnt as thick and had trouble keeping in one position. Im just trying out new ways but only one other has worked
Did you hear the latest news? McFarlane toys has informed retailers that the existing pre-orders for Mortal Kombat XI Spawn Action Figure due in May will now come with the updated version that will include a Mace Accessory instead of a Sword Accessory.

I like this idea
You know what is difficult? Finding a Spawn. Lol.
TMan978 😅
Now, out here in Cali fabric is hard to come by given the current situation
True, that's why all I could find was a blueberry Spawn...sigh...more paint and mods for me to do...groan
Random dude from China : sells for $20
Me: buy ....one minute later ....bumped into this video......doh.
Welp 🤣
Awesome idea thanks for sharing 🙌🙌👍👍
No problem

Could you use thick foil and fold the cape over it then glue it
Hmmmmm
