    It's so cool that konbini stores and ¥100 stores allow people looking to eat frugally to get fairly tasty and nourishing food without breaking the bank. Thanks for a look at some of your favorites, Shinichi.
    Your balcony of flowers and the wonderful tributes to dearest Justin were the highlights of the video for me. Although I never got to snuggle with him, Justin's sweetness, his intelligence, his whimsical personality, his huge loving heart, ensconced him firmly in my heart and mind forever. I truly miss him too. ❤

    • @thomaswhitten2537
      @thomaswhitten2537 2 года назад +2

      I've wondered that too. My guess and only a guess. Japan makes a lot of items in country. So the cost of shipping and distribution is nowhere near that of say, the U.S. There's no New York to LA long haul trucking. They grow a lot of their ingrediants. Some items, like their eggs, are closed systems just to serve Japan and keep out contamiants from other countries. A very good way to be these days! ☺

    • @johnree6106
      @johnree6106 2 года назад

      A lot of different ways. Locally made, overstocked, product defects = let me explain like many big stores say a vegetable doesn't look good but otherwise perfectly edible.
      But a more common but overlooked is that it's advertising they lose profits but gain brand recognition. Then when you go to other stores and see a product with the brand you will more likely buy it as its a familiar brand name

    • @d.jeffdionne

      I always have to laugh... most western folks think Japan is expensive. The cost of living can be a fraction of North America. This is really 100Yen store food, not that it's bad. But if you're willing to pay Y298 or Y398 instead and go to e.g. a Seiyu supermarket, the prepared food isle will surprise you...

    Like the Sushi set usually 4 pieces of Sushi even from street food vendor cost at least IDR 15.000 - 20.000 (around 130-180 YEN) and that 5 Pieces of Gyoza usually cost around IDR 25.000 (around 230 YEN)
    And adjusting for per capita income of Country like japan, that is super cheap prices.

      There is a real French bakery in my city and they call that kind of pastry "viennoise" (hopefully I spelled it right). I've also heard that other European countries refer to it the same way because it is actually Austrian from Vienna. I don't know how it came to be called Danish but that's always been the name here in the States.

      @@elisaastorino2881 That is actually a "funny" Story Denmark at one point were very lacking in skilled bakers because of long period in which our own bakers were striking. So they hired French bakers to come up here.. They brought they sweet cakes with them and Danes fell in love with them (We actually calls them Vinnerbrød which basically translate to Viennebread.. We innovated and improved on them and some how that ended up being what got exported around the world by danish immigrants that moved to the US and sat up shop.
