It's also great how SRW likes to mix, change and mesh the series together. For example how in the Z series the Wing Gundam Zero's ZERO system was initially developed by Celestial Being and it and the Twin Drive System were originally going to be mounted on one unit. Or how Getter Rays and Spiral Energy are one and the same thing in almost every SRW game. Ryoma even blasts Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren in Z3.1 with the Getter Beam to kickstart it into forming the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann. And then there's some absolutely dumb shit like Master Asia being an alien in Shin SRW, but that game was kind of garbage to begin with.

Transformers has been in, kind of, thanks to some of the Yuusha series. Which took over when G1 transformers started dying down over in Japan. Heck, the 1st Yuusha series, Exkaiser, even had the dinobots as villains.
April 1st is the start of the new fiscal year in Japan. Banpresto was a joint venture partly owned by bandai (hence the "Ban") until they made it a full subsidiary then later dissolved it into Bandai Namco.
@Keith Courage RX-78-2 Ironic. Transformers and Voltron(Golion) are originally from japan while series that grown in american like battletech is barely recognizing
The franchise's core plot theme is breaking the dimensional barrier and uniting forces of good from across time or reality to face a common enemy that has the power to threatens all. The format starts with the introduction of the Banpresto Original character, then each individual series is brought in, each series then proceeds with their own plot line until every one of them is wrapped up, leaving only the Banpresto Originals to conclude their own plot and bring the game to an end. It's a nice framework, however it does get a bit old after a while because no matter how different the plot are between games, it never deviates from this framework and thus becomes quite predictable Z's story is by far one of the most complex in the franchise, I mean it took 5 games just to tell it and it is deep Unfortunately this franchise, or more to the point SRPGs in general, is a still niche genre in the western hemisphere. Despite the over the top attack animations, it's still just cinematic, and the west tends to favor towards action oriented games that players have direct control over instead of just watching it happen automatically JAM project is also relatively unknown in the west, outside of die hard fans, probably one of the reasons why they never bothered to tour internationally Folka technically appeared in Endless Frontier Exceed, but it's more like Aledy Naash uses his fighting style. Then again that game is more of a standalone title that's not canon to the Original Generation (some are but not all of it) That 2nd OG translation was very well done, guy really took a lot of effort to do so with such a text heavy game. Since the franchise has gone global now and will likely be in English in the foreseeable future, there's only a few older games that still needs translation, and now there's one less to do
I hear that So Close Yet So Far Away in the background at the end bit Also I've beaten A Portable, I'd say most of the game isn't that hard as long as you leverage your hit rate boosters And then you get to Zweizergain and the final map
My first Super Robot Wars games are all the GBA games(OG 1+2, A, D, R, J) and i loved all of them especially the interactions and the mixed story, the wars i experienced were a damn experience but X for me takes the cake for making me fight a protag, he was a damn good protag
I will say, I think OG Moon Dwellers has way cooler attack animations then SRW X/V/T. Just a personal opinion though, and I think I've shown enough attacks in the video for you to decide for yourself on that one.
Zirion Actually it's the consensus. It makes sense too since the animators are less constrained by keeping the style of the original attack and the licensing budget does go to the animation.
BUT here is a catch i seen from another video ... some of the characters on OG are conected to some of this game and spin offs. And even older games. For example: Roa is from Compati Heroes and Kaiser is literally the same Kaiser from that game only rebuild with the (Obari style) of the DGG (and Gravion , because he is Gravion in all but name). On top you had Guilliam who is suppouse to be the same Guillam from Great Battle and 4. EVEN the same Euzeth is the same guy from Great Battle and Alpha too, but split in diferent dimensions and share a same memory once one of them dies. EVEN Masaki, went to another dimension in an amost complete unrelated game to his one .... TWICE (ACE:R and SRW X ). And i can go on and on with some examples like Sanger and Harken coming to OG world , or Endless Frontier tying things from OG verse story (like the A-series).
Hope Granblem, IBO, Hathaway's Flash (for promotion to new movies),Symphogear and Yuki Yuna (even they're Magical Girls with Mecha antics especially Symphogear but Tekkaman Blade did appeared in SRW games and that show was power armor mecha, so its possible plus the experimental of non mecha series like Cowboy Bebop in SRW worked) will appear in new console SRW games even if Franxx was shit, hope SRW will fix it
20:51 I think there's something wrong with the video. It sounds like you were trying to play a different song, but that song got overridden. Also, don't forget about JAM Project! Without them, the Super Robot Wars series wouldn't be nearly as hot-blooded as it is!
I wonder what that really cool arcade game was I saw back in 1999 when I was on a bit of leave in last few days at Lackland AFB? I swear it was called Super Robot Wars and featured beautiful animation during the demo mode, it featured giant mecha that looked very familiar to mecha from certain anime but they were not the exact ones. What was I looking at?!
man i wish they'd make an anime of the part where shinji gets a bright slap and evolves into a giga chad. also wish there would be a valkyria chronicles style srt / gundam game
The GBA games had bad graphics? Uhhh… I think you’re mistaken about that: OG1 looks unimpressive, but OG2 and especially J have fantastic animation. Even jaw-dropping, considering the system.
gotta ask the first of the favorites, by any chance, it is footage from The Moon Dwellers? i am interested in playing an OG game before going to either X, T or 30 ( also, The remakes of OG 1 and 2 on PS2 have been translated to English by a fan patch for some time now )
Sometimes it's not just textboxes people get, when characters per support attacks/defend in some scenarios even ones that wouldn't've had dialogue for one another would. IIRC Shinn even has one for Koji in SRW V. Gundam Seed Destiny and Mazinger Z, who would've expected it?
Though there's also an english release of Super Robot Wars T, which is the newest game, on both PS4 and Switch. It hasn't gotten a Steam release yet, though.
No research dlone at all, both those titles were available in English on launch in Asian PSN markets. They weren't suddenly translated and when moved to Steam.
This was a pretty cool overview of the series! Though I was kinda hoping you would talk about the games that are only playable in English through fantranslations. Though on the topic of Endless Frontier being "Unrelated"... I didn't quite get what you meant by that, but in the case that you meant Unrelated to the OG games? That isn't exactly true, as the story of Endless Frontier is referenced in the 2nd OG, and it is directly acknowledged in Moon Dwellers. The OG games have also this tendency of incorporating in their stories the most obscure of spin offs that I am sure even the most hardcore Japanese fans are left scratching their heads due just how unknown the source materials are. Like, for example... Has anyone ever heard of Gaia Saver for the SNES? Or Grandread for the Sega Saturn? I think most people haven't.
well I meant mostly unrelated from a gameplay perspective, but I will be the first to admit I only knew Haken made an appearance later since I haven't finished Moon Dwellers myself. That said, usually they try to incorporate old characters in the OG saga in a entirely new fashion, like how Touma has a different origin story then his alpha 3 counterpart and so on
Most Mecha protagonists are good people, even the "evil" ones are not evil to the core. They can get along with each other just fine when there is an external threat that brings all the factions of humanity together. Well maybe aside from a few lifelong rivals such as Amuro and Char.
@@wzx6x6z6w My problem is full-metal panic had a hole episode about how terrorist need to be killed no matter what, and I'm supposed to just expect they can get along fine with celestial being. Or, that hathaway or banagher would approve of what the cast of cross ange did to the people under Julio because literal mind control isn't an excuse in there eye's.
So I would love to start the series with the Nintendo Switch game. I don't even know what the first game is! Could you please tell me which one to play?
I guess I do gloss over that so I'll try to explain it succinctly. The Super Robot Wars Series on Nintendo Switch are X, V, and T. First of all, you're going to have to import these games if you live in the U.S, or anywhere aside from SEA region (South East Asia), and you are looking for the ASIA edition. Secondly, X, V and T are not actually connected to each other, but rather are 3 separate games loosely connected by theme which re-use very similar assets, so my recommendation on which to play is just look up to see if there are any specific mechas that you really like in that game. If you just want to play one without caring about that, pick X.
@@Zyraizo I finished V at the time of typing this! Amazing game, I love it. I'm gonna replay it and try to get Black Mightgaine. After that, I wanna play X. Thanks for making this video.
I also might wanna try out the new 30th Anniversary game coming out! That's the fourth installment for the Switch and I can't wait to see what comes out of this crossover. Evangelion 3.0 is what I'm crossing my fingers for.
@@Apronika Glad you enjoyed it! I actually really like the main character's mech in V. April 1st is the start of the new fiscal year in Japan. Banpresto was a joint venture partly owned by bandai (hence the "Ban") until they made it a full subsidiary then later dissolved it into Bandai Namco.
After the announced of SRW30 people should talk more about this series. its a shame that most of western gamers might not even know this game existed.
It's a nice framework, however it does get a bit old after a while because no matter how different the plot are between games, it never deviates from this framework and thus becomes quite predictable
Z's story is by far one of the most complex in the franchise, I mean it took 5 games just to tell it and it is deep
Unfortunately this franchise, or more to the point SRPGs in general, is a still niche genre in the western hemisphere. Despite the over the top attack animations, it's still just cinematic, and the west tends to favor towards action oriented games that players have direct control over instead of just watching it happen automatically
JAM project is also relatively unknown in the west, outside of die hard fans, probably one of the reasons why they never bothered to tour internationally
Folka technically appeared in Endless Frontier Exceed, but it's more like Aledy Naash uses his fighting style. Then again that game is more of a standalone title that's not canon to the Original Generation (some are but not all of it)
That 2nd OG translation was very well done, guy really took a lot of effort to do so with such a text heavy game. Since the franchise has gone global now and will likely be in English in the foreseeable future, there's only a few older games that still needs translation, and now there's one less to do
And now this year there is a new game coming out
I hear that So Close Yet So Far Away in the background at the end bit
Also I've beaten A Portable, I'd say most of the game isn't that hard as long as you leverage your hit rate boosters
And then you get to Zweizergain and the final map
I just have to say, God bless ewac
My first Super Robot Wars games are all the GBA games(OG 1+2, A, D, R, J) and i loved all of them especially the interactions and the mixed story, the wars i experienced were a damn experience but X for me takes the cake for making me fight a protag, he was a damn good protag
Will probably import X, V, T and OG Moon Dwellers for the heck of it
I will say, I think OG Moon Dwellers has way cooler attack animations then SRW X/V/T.
I want to correct something, Gilliam comes originally from hero senki and it's the same Gilliam in every game it has been.
Srw30 though
Hope Granblem, IBO, Hathaway's Flash (for promotion to new movies),Symphogear and Yuki Yuna (even they're Magical Girls with Mecha antics especially Symphogear but Tekkaman Blade did appeared in SRW games and that show was power armor mecha, so its possible plus the experimental of non mecha series like Cowboy Bebop in SRW worked) will appear in new console SRW games even if Franxx was shit, hope SRW will fix it
This looks AMAZING
Don't forget that Masaki can easily get lost and end up in Another Century Episode R
Hold up Zirion just used the fucking Big Bang Punch on a Ninjar
*lol*
Sometimes you just want a big number.
Now Excuse me as I use Sun Attack on a Batta.
Thanks for the highlight of this franchise makes me wanna try the series. Matbe the gba ones. Bht endless frontier is hella fun

I think there's something wrong with the video. It sounds like you were trying to play a different song, but that song got overridden.
Also, don't forget about JAM Project! Without them, the Super Robot Wars series wouldn't be nearly as hot-blooded as it is!
Not gonna lie, I sat there for a few seconds until I realized what the joke was. Trombe! is such a dang good song.
@@Zyraizo What, was you translator malfunctioning?!
"The Mysterious Gourmet?!"
People should look into the new translation of Endless Frontier EXCEED, shit's good
High quality battle animations.... yeah. Hoo...boi.
man i wish they'd make an anime of the part where shinji gets a bright slap and evolves into a giga chad. also wish there would be a valkyria chronicles style srt / gundam game
Considering SRW 30 just came out a few weeks ago
I approve of the beginning
The ultimate mecha showdown.
I'd love to see the Outlaw star crew
alex's theme (endless frontier exceed) awesome!
The GBA games had bad graphics? Uhhh… I think you’re mistaken about that: OG1 looks unimpressive, but OG2 and especially J have fantastic animation. Even jaw-dropping, considering the system.
gotta ask
the first of the favorites, by any chance, it is footage from The Moon Dwellers?
i am interested in playing an OG game before going to either X, T or 30 ( also, The remakes of OG 1 and 2 on PS2 have been translated to English by a fan patch for some time now )
Yep, it's from Moon Dwellers. Fantastic animations, even if the SEA translation is a tad bit iffy.
Ironblood Orphan isn't in Super Robot Wars.
they're in Gundam G Generation Cross Rays
Super Robot Wars DD
And now SRW 30.
Funny that I only played SRW3 and A portable so I always thought these series were brutal
3rd alpha’s Ideon is OP
Sometimes it's not just textboxes people get, when characters per support attacks/defend in some scenarios even ones that wouldn't've had dialogue for one another would.
IIRC Shinn even has one for Koji in SRW V.
Gundam Seed Destiny and Mazinger Z, who would've expected it?
Bandai should advertise SRW30 like how SNK advertised KOF15. Each week introduce a series or character or something...
Yeah, the V and X Steam releases are just ports of the PS4 English Asia versions.
Though there's also an english release of Super Robot Wars T, which is the newest game, on both PS4 and Switch. It hasn't gotten a Steam release yet, though.
If banpresto wrote me a love letter I would give it up on the first date
"Tetsaku heroes"
Me: you mean P O W E R R A N G E R S
Super robot wars
Smash bros for mecha anime
Which game could you recommend me that are translated and that I can emulate on my phone
Tenka muteki no iiichigeki, hisatsu HOOaaaaa!!!!
whats the song while youre talking at 8:30 ?
Dunno if you found it already, but it's Guardian Angel from SRW Moon Dwellers.
(A remix of the SRW J version on the GBA)
That said, usually they try to incorporate old characters in the OG saga in a entirely new fashion, like how Touma has a different origin story then his alpha 3 counterpart and so on
@@Zyraizo Oh! I see. Thanks for making alot more clear!
did the make eng ver of gaiden now?
How not to mention the best attack in many SRW games, the Final Dynamic Special?
man how the hell do i even get into playing these games. like how do i play them
Like a tactical rpg, or are you asking where are they available, cause the newest one is available on Steam worldwide.
You didn't mention Code geass
I need more of RaiOh and DaiRaiOh dang It!!
im your 1000th sub lol
Congrats :P
I have an issue with swr where hero's that should hate each others guts are friends for very little reason.
Was always a fan of the, "Choose if you want a ranged or melee mech," Mostly because the melee one always ends up as a ridiculous Super Robot.
I actually think X, in terms of the route splitting, is better then V so look forward to that.
What is the video that plays in 19:40?
Opening to Z3 Time Prison Chapter, aka Z3-1
@@Zyraizo Ah thanks
i need a kamen rider english game so bad :(
Eh, wait whats the best way to get ahold of the games then? Like steam is sorta my go to....
good video bud
