Spot on Felix. Our mids were monstered by Neale & McCluggage. With Parish & Shiel coming in has come at a cost with the impact of Durham diminished considerably.
I’m not taking much positivity from that late game fight back, Brisbane had all but walked off the ground. Congrats on a great career Hep, you truly deserved better than this club.
Jake Kelly kicking a player on the ground was the best highlight of the year. 3. Heppell 2. Perkins 1. Langford Rp. @@taliamason7986if your doing a rebuild, you trade your capital, that's a bit older. Merrett, ridley, McGrath, Redmond, Langford are the ones you look to trade. Not players you can't get anything for
@@brucejensen3081You look to get as much as you can in a draft as ridiculously deep of this coming one that is full of key position players and solid big bodied ball winning midfielders. Anyhow I would be looking to trade Parish. It was a huge mistake resigning him last year to begin with given how many other similar sized mids we have and also how injury prone he has become since that 2021 break out season.
We turned over 11 players last year (yes some wanted out but good on them) and need to do the same this year, however with only 3 picks?? in the draft i don't know what the plan could be.....
If the Collingwood draw was a win our position on the ladder would remain 11th. Had we lost we would have fallen to 14th with a percentage that was worse than Adelaide's. It's all sliding doors of course, but I get a bit sick of Scott blowing smoke up everyone's arse. The game Saturday night was difficult to watch, a family member walked out of the room stating "this is boring I'm going to bed." I cringe every time McGrath (not our worst), Kelly, McKay and Laverde kick or handball. There's not much to get excited about if this game plan carries over to 2025.
In my opinion I feel like Brad Scott is miss using the Draper and Bryan ruck combo since Bryan is mainly playing in the ruck and Draper is just spending more time forward when he clearly isn't a key forward at all Draper and Bryan combo needs to be more even. The fact that we are using Draper as our main target explains where the club is at and how horrific our forward line is.
They say we have seen some signs of improvement. People also say that numbers dont lie. Let's look at a couple, shall we. 2023 11 wins, 12 losses, 89•66% Points for............1838 Points against.... 2050 2024 11 wins, 11 losses, 1 draw, 93•55% Points for............. 1892 Points against...... 2024 Improvement 2024 over 2023 Points for............... +54 pts Points against....... -26 pts From these key metrics we can easily see that our forwards have capitalised on every opportunity and kicked truely. Equally impressive is the huge improvement of our backline and fully justifies the monstrous contract penned for a champion like McKay. I wonder if anybody at the club will see these KPI's and discuss them while celebrating their outstanding achievements this Mad Monday.
I didn't watch any of the game due to work, but no doubt I would have turned off by half time. From the scoreline I figured we had a good crack in the last quarter but listening to your commentary I can see we really were just pathetic. I think the selectors at Essendon over-rate Darcy Parish. Our downward slide has had some correlation to him returning to the side. If we continue with the same starting 22 next year then it will be very disappointing. There are just too many players who are below average with their disposal and seem to have absolutely zero footy brain. I really can't vote because I didn't watch any of the match. Thanks for all the videos this year.
100% Felix. I don't understand, and I've sarcasticly said sefl sabotage before. But, you have to scratch your head to change a winning formula, ie Durham, Caldwell and Merrett, for Parish, Shiel, who from all reports will be gone at the end of the year, so why play him there over Durham?! Brad knows what he's doing, but when it seems like something is going good for us, the coach's change it, but when something is dogshit, like Kelly on a wing, keeping 2MP in for months on end, the coach's stick with it, regardless how blatantly ineffective it is.
I’d be happy if next year first 10 games aren’t even our best 18. We should have been tinkering with the squad from our loss against the blues. Now we have to do all of this in the new season.
It’s frustrating to see what we could be. That last quarter we kept one of the best teams to a low score while we were great going inside 50. WHY CANT WE DO THIS ALL THE TIME! 3. Merrett 2. Langford 1. Heppell Rp McGrath
I'm not sure what the biggest highlight was, McKay, Laverde and kelly giving easy goal assists to Brissy, or the fact that kelly could take time out from contesting the ball to kick a Brissy player on the ground? Don't kid ourselves with that last quarter, we were smashed and if Brissy kicked straight it was over at half time....The club has a ton of work to do. We may have to drop back a few rungs next year and make drastic changes...We are nowhere near it. 3:Langford 2 Heppell 1:Martin RP:Bryan.
Besides the draft or free agency. Could we go on a limb and grab an international since they won’t count as a draft pick or even a mature aged player who isn’t in the system anymore. We gotta do something out of the box if we want to get of of the box we put ourselves in.
Game plan was different. Had one back early to bottle it up, and leave some in reserve for when it opened up. Need to refine it, obviously. We hurt ourselves by giving it to them metres away several times. Brisbane are like us, unaccurate and heaps of inside fifties. Its not the way to go about it. They are more advanced than us, but if we got a goal with 7 to go, we probably would have won.
It's all so depressing. Year in year out - nothing. We are so far off the pace a complete rebuild is needed. Expecting a drop down the ladder in 2025 with these heartless passsengers.
