  • This is an initial road-test of a new Flathead Ford engine in my 32 Cabriolet (a barn find that sat on blocks since 1959). After 2 years of work, it is a wonderful feeling to take the old girl out on the road with a really stout flathead and put it through the gears. This is a very traditional hotrod - built the way they were in the early 1940's. I'm totally impressed with how well this new engine is performing - once it is broken in and tuned, should be even more fun. Enjoy!

I the oily rag appearance of the Cabriolet! speaks volumes about how well she must have been looked after in the 40's through to when she was laid up. Theres a VW channel on YT where a blue cab with olds power can be seen in the back ground.More of a 50's early 60's style rod but the same rare body style. And it's the owners daily driver!.

+klepetar Yeah, you're probably right . . . but when you're building traditional Hotrods, that is part of the deal. Though I will say this, something about the simplicity, the period it was built, the fact that it just works . . . makes it fun. Would I want to drive it on a daily basis in LA traffic . . . No . . . but do I love to take it out on these roads of Ohio and experience what it was like building a hotrod in 30's through 50's . . . bet your ass I do. Try it . . . you'll not feel bad that you did!

That's why you should have Hagerty insurance. I drive my 50 Mercury Coupe ,all original w/ flathead V8 everyday during the summer, weather permitting. This will be my 52nd year as caretaker. The only thing I see that's dangerous here, is driving down tree lined roads.
