I applied for the US lottery in 2021 and it didn’t go through successfully. I recently applied for the b1/b2 visa and have a date for the interview. Will that information i provided in the lottery registration affect my application in anyway? Will they know I have already tried to apply just in case they ask.
They will most likely see that you applied for an immigrant visa -DV in the past so they may ask you to prove that when you get the visitor visa you will come back to your home country. So show strong ties to your home country

I believe if the main purpose of your travel is no longer applicable for example if you were to come for a conference but it’s over, you will need another reason. And I believe the info on the DS-160 needs to match your interview answers and documents
If the main purpose of the visit is no longer applicable, you have another chance to look for a new and valid reason and create a new ds160 form to match your new reason to the us. mind you, let the embassy know through email that u have put in a new DS 160 form so that they can give you a new appointment letter with a matching code.@@lucynmwangiusa

There’s the option to keep checking to see if something opens up sooner. Or do a new one and take both confirmation pages to the interview

You will need to show that at least you have enough to cover the cost of the flight, accommodation and spending money for the duration of your trip

You can say both. “I’ll be staying with my sister who lives at (address)” for example, or you can give the name of a hotel and address etc

There is no specific time period that you should wait. I would however try to figure out why the visa was denied and how you can correct the issue

Due to long waiting period, if the information (like travel date, hotel address ) in DS 160 is outdated, can we explain it to the officer.
