Ah.... finally u hv dscovered dis gem of a singer named ZShen. He is a class act, exceptional vocal skills, n hs voice hs a huge presence. Its difficult not to be enthralled by hs voice. Since he burst into d music scene abt 7/8 yrs ago, he hs showcased hs abilities in a great variety of songs. Hs rendition of sentimental songs cn be emotionally stirring evn if u dont undrstand Mandarin. Hope u wil enjoy more reviews of ZShen's performances like Ring the doorbell, Brightness, Baby, Longing for a wholehearted love, My only (in English). He also does beautiful duets with Mika (City of stars, from d show Glee) and Rose Boy with Gai.

I'm glad you enjoyed the performance. "Memory" is a famous song from the musical "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Zhou Shen started early with singing, joined the school choir and won the first place repeatedly in choir competitions. But when he hit puberty his voice didn't significantly change. Since he still sounded like a girl in middle school he was ridiculed by his classmates and they were calling him names. Because of the discrimination he experienced, he became more and more silent. He didn't sing on stage for three years in junior high school. Fortunately he regained confidence and was able to make his uniqueness his strength. He studied Bel Canto at the Ukrainian Conservatory of Music and today he is one of the most popular singers in China. Zhou Shen plays the piano, guitar and clarinet. He can speak five foreign languages: English, Ukrainian, Russian, Italian and Polish (his French is pretty decent too) and he sings in even more languages. I love his angelic voice. For more wonderful performance I recommend his duets with Sa Dingding (a Chinese singer and songwriter) "Upwards to the moon" and "Flower walking freely", but you can't go wrong with any of his performances. "Zhou" is pronounced like "Joe" with the J sounding a bit sharper like the "Ch" in Charlie. BTW, Charlie is Zhou Shen's Western name. He covered the perfect song for the upcoming Halloween season: "The Song of Heaven Island". I'll probably send you another donation for this one with a special link to another video site where I added English subs to the performance.
