Thanks a lot for providing leads to the biodegradable technologies! I think each needs a separate video in this regard! Keep it up!👍

PLA isn't 100% compostable, it has something akin to a half life so a large portion of it will compost away, but there's still an amount left over that takes much longer. Also, as Lopis points out, they require high temperature industrial composting (which is a good resource to have but isn't the best quality).
I wish there'd been photos of the flat wine bottles, they're pretty cool looking! They've also spun off the packaging company to one named Packamama. The paperboard bottles are neat too, though they've effectively just boxed wine, with a bag that's surrounded by paper

old thread but anyway... The effort on biofriendly packaging is an example of the consumers shifting their responsibility towards the industry, instead of changing habits. And also of the industry not taking the risks to propose more radical possibilities. Examples: a huge portion of any package is there only for marketing purposes, if everyone would lower their "visual voices" then tons of colorful cardboard would go away, just like that. Also: sizing, so few options, and designed to favor sales or margin, not efficiency. More: some small shops offer food in bulk, why not do that at a larger scale, must be possible. And most: minimize! Every food that ends in the trash, (and its package) might as well not have been purchased in the first place. There must be hundreds of ideas, but us consumers want to sit there expecting the industry to change, and the industry in turn has other goals.

Not sure all of this is correct. Aren't corn based plastics only compostable in industrial facilities?

"A growing number of companies and startups, primarily in north America, are spending time and money on alternative packaging" what? Have you watched the startup scene around cyclular economy in Europe? Fairphone, mud jeans and the company that invented a plastic made from potatoes are all Dutch. Germany and France are innovating like crazy in the space too.
This is a world wide problem and everyone is trying to come up with solutions.

How to help people make money ? Is UBI help ? But what would it mean just like zoo animals and then children is unimaginable... So industrialize only essential most needed by everyone while anything had culture or religious should not be industrialize to slow the overspreading. Like book on specification or maintenance fact may be ebook but things on phillosophy or religiin may not

This video is weird. Why are we celebrating some unsustainable alternatives here? We have to do better than that.
