It was a good atmosphere in the pubs
Makes me feel like it's night time in a place where it's hot, and I'm sitting back in a dark, smokey, lantern lit lounge listening to music that's all got a jazzy voodoo vibe to it, played by a band who no one is watching because everyone is having a meaningful conversation and the band's music is merely there providing a sense of warmth. Feels great.

I discovered this beautiful, brilliant song while watching the TV series "Romanoff."
I got lucky when I Googled some of the lyrics, then of course learned that it was from the band Bedouin Soundclash, and from their fourth album titled "Light the Horizon."
I was so impressed by this song that I immediately bought the entire CD, and I wasn't disappointed. The haunting "Brutal Hearts" is the highlight, but the other 9 songs are wonderful and very atmospheric gems as well.
After checking out their previous work on AllMusic, I realize that "Light the Horizon" is their most recent work, from 2011, and it's the album where they matured and expanded their sound considerably. Their 3 previous albums were primarily reggae, and reggae can be a very limiting genre. On "Light the Horizon" they keep their love for reggae intact, but they expanded and added a much needed diverse mix to their sound ... pop, rock, world, ska, and even an Italian, Ennio Morricone influenced mix of haunting whistles, sighs, cries and whispers.
I truly love the entire CD, and regret that it has taken me 7 years to discover it, but, better late than never.
I love them since 6 years ago, and always this song remember me to that days, I was in London and I was almost all the time alone with Bedouin S. Wonderful time and wonderful experience!

I just discovered this song the other night when I watched an old skool movie starring a young Katie Holmes ("The Romantics"). Such a fabulous song. On my playlist for 2023. The best songs are timeless. This is one of them.

Not the typical love song at all, I would say maybe even the fantasist point of view of somebody, but at least it's honest, so it's comforting in that way, no deceit here, you know what you're getting into.... plus it just sounds good... ;-)
