I believe that grandpa did love grandma and he also probably knew about the coffee, he just had a grumpy attitude. The story is happening on the countryside in early 20th. century.

He cartoon is about grandpa ans grandma. Grandpa wanta for breakfast to drink real cofee. Grandma didt drink real cofee But cikory. The First morning grandma makes cofee for grandpa and cikory for her. Real cofee was expensive so grandma make the next morning cikory for Both of then. Grandpa have no idea that he is drinking cikory. When grandpa past away grandpa children makes a real cofee. Grandpa told that he like it But that grandma cofee is the best. The story is hapening in countryside in early 20 century

The idea is that Grampa appeared rough and uncaring on the surface, but at his core he loved his wife and knew that she was making him no real coffee, which he admitted after she passed away by saying that nobody made better coffee than his wife
