I was fortunate enough to have studied with Ronnie in early 81/82 @ GIT …. he was a tremendous influence and one of the most knowledgeable chord melody players ever … to say he could name them and then just play like them as an example is an absolute understatement 🎶 … a pure and amazing musician and educator as well as a warm, open and caring person … a cherished memory of an amazing time in LA … Martino, Mock, D’Orio, Eschete, Tedesco Robben Ford and Carl Schroeder and too many more to list here … Thanks for posting this 🎼
I've known him for about 25 years now. One of the TOP jazz guitarists. Totally underrated. He's written books, has been a studio musician. Beautiful tone, modern voicings intertwined with great lines. His chord-melody and improvised chording is a marvel. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💯
My word, so reassuring to hear you play the tunes you used to play for us in class at GIT; and we'd all be "ok I be able to do that in a couple of years" or "what am I doing here" (more of the latter) You commentors, image spending an hour or two, five days a week with this guy, and he would attempt to show us how it was done. Such a great player; I still have the list of tunes you told us we all must learn and 41 years later, I'm still working on the list: 1979: thank you Ron for everything, you've been a great inspiration.
Probably one of the most under rated guitarists I have ever met along with Ted Green. One of the truly last great unknowns, Ron is an amazing musician and guitarists this world has ever seen. He has ears of an elephant with great musical sensitivity and ability to improvise complex chord melody which equals anyone from all times. I am glad to have spent a brief time studying with you many years ago. Though I have only picked up a fraction of Ron has taught, more importantly it has given me a much greater appreciation for jazz of this caliber.
Ron's beautiful blend of chords, chord melody, blues, quotes and melodic improve ideas is such a joy to hear. I just get so much joy out of hearing him
Ron, every time we saw you at Steamers, either with Dewey Erney or fronting your own duo/trio, my wife would sit there mesmerized by your fret work. She studied classical guitar as a kid, but eventually rebelled against her violinist father who demanded perfection. She's conflicted to this day, wondering if she made the wrong choice. All I know is, one night early in our relationship she spotted an acoustic guitar in my apartment and promptly started to play Malanguena. My jaw dropped.
Hank Kiechlin let me Google that for you… benedettoguitars.com/tag/ron-eschete/ Ron Eschete | Benedetto Guitars So, if my quick lookup didn't fail, it might be a Benedetto's.😅👍🎸
@@reff9289 we are here to appreciate and praise Ron Eschete it would be really low class for anyone to comment on a Philip Catherine video - How about Ron Eschete? grow up
Ron Escheté is the closest thing we have to Ed Bickert. I have loved Ron's playing for years, and got an autographed copy of his terrific Live at Coyote Studios Cd/DVD set. I so much appreciate this, because I have heard Ron at Steamers during NAMM 2004. He was performing with Joey DeFrancesco, Ramon Banda and George Benson! Thanks, Malcolm.
A pleasure to connect with you Ron. 30 years ago I came upon your Recordings and was Blown away by your technique, Great sound. I enjoy your club videos . Big fan for many years.
This is yet ANOTHER great interpretation of a great standard. Outstanding use of chromatic voice leading and so much more. I could study this arrangement for the next 2 years (and probably will)
Guitar trio...? Amazingly relaxing and rich format. There ought to be a formal jazz society dedicated to the format. Could listen to this group and other great trio's all night! It used to be a common thing in Los Angeles to hear a great trio in all kinds of casual settings from hotel lounges to showcase rooms. Pretty rare anymore.
I would love to take lessons from you.... I remember being a teenager in Long Beach, Ca and hearing people talk about you, and how amazing you were... But I decided to learn to play blues because I couldn't afford jazz lessons... Its great to see you are still around playing amazing music...
Byron, Thank you for your comments. I am still teaching at my home most afternoons. I live near the I-605 and the I-5 junction. If you friend me on Facebook, I will send a message to you with my phone number. -- Ronnie
boy next door quote just around 4 mins - going from one chorus into the next....i think this guy is the most advanced jazz guitarist i've ever heard. i prefer wes of course - but he gives up very very little dirt and sweat for his enormous sophistication. isn't it depressing that someone can be this good - and this innovative - and be so little known? see his wonderful lesson on dominant chords on the tube.
What sort of chord voicings are you using for the chord melody and how do I go about learning them? Sounds fantastic, I hear some kenny burrell and some wes for sure.
very comfortable in his shoes, gifted in harmony & time, Bravo.

Am I the only one amazed by this guy? I can't believe I only discovered him this year. Tone, ideas, balance of technicality and melody - I'm in awe

I'm with you. Sounds as good as any of 'em. really hip lines.
So do I.
No you're not on your own. He's phenomenal
I like very very much Eschte's style and accent on guitar.

What a master guitarist ! Very much underrated ...
Perhaps didn’t get the exposure, but a true master. I always say under appreciated, more so than underrated... not trying to split hairs
Ron is a superb musician - what a tasteful guitarist!
Chord melody master, bar none, beautiful lead lines, inspirational
Am a fan of Ron and i have your autograph.
Just great. Amazing playing 👍👏👏👍
Can’t get enough of this guys playing

The more I watch, the better it gets, phenomenal chord work here,
So much fun to listen to. Way cool Ron.
and this tune has more changes than a tomatoe has seeds - perfect for him (he gives it even more changes!)
Jimmy Raney referred to the "Rolls Royce" smoothness of one of his trios, Ron's trios always the smoothest,
I came to know Ron Escheté via Gene Harris (my very fave pianist). IMO, the combo of Ron and Gene is comparable to that of Herb and Oscar.
Always great to here Ron, and Gene Harris is missed by everyone
Amazing
I love this guitar since 40 years. Only Jazzguitar player now you in Europe. The amazing Ron Eschete. I learnd a lod of him, thank You so much!
Ron's a beast and all good but... What about Philip Catherine? Belgium... Hellloooo?

Effortless playing. Reminds me of George Barnes’ playing a little. Brilliant.
A joy! Thank you.
Some very technical stiff there. Amazing stylist.

Absolutely incredible!
Great tune ,Great Artist .... Thanks
What a great player!!
SO PRETTY! Kudos Sir Eschete!
Love that walking bass on the 7th string, so cool, effortlessly breezing through the most complex chord forms, wow...
Be nice to see him.
I peeked through the cracks and down at the tracks...

Muy bueno Ron !!!
Great playing as always!
Hey Ron, just came across a few of your videos and I really love your style. Looking forward to exploring your work.
Mr Escheté. I love your playing. Do you offer lessons?
A jazz guitarist is a scientist who took a wrong turn somewhere along the way-
Or vice versa.

Ted Greene 'Chord Chemistry' and 'Modern Chord Progressions'. Don't go any further Ron does have some great books too.
