This is for people who need their bikes protected so they're not stolen, I take it? Otherwise, why wouldn't I just put my bike right in front of the building I want to go to?
In some of the historical centres in the Netherlands there is not much space left to all park in front of the shops, we need that space for a good quality of the public space and walking around/terraces/etc.. :) So more and more smaller and bigger cities are investing in quality bike parking around the centre. It is mainly used for people shopping for a few hours or working in the offices close by, and people with more expensive bikes as well. In the case of Utrecht it is also not allowed to cycle in the inner circle of the centre. It takes time to get used to use the space in the city centre differently, people are of course not used to it right sway, but it will definitly help to try to keep the centre accesible for people. - Simone
@@TheSimone9899 I totally get not wanting cars in the cities, but banning bicycles is silly. They are a quiet, quick and safe way to get around, and should be encouraged as much as possible.
Wow so nice!
