First would be the people who just don't want to slurp pasta, some find it rude and some simply don't want sauce ending up everywhere. Breaking pasta makes it easier for kids to eat, small pot and don't want to sit there waiting for noodles to be able to be forced into the pot or else you have half cooked noodles and lastly simply because they like it that way. I can think of worse things people have done with food that is considered normal or isn't hated on as much and really should be. Canned mushrooms or canned potatoes are food crimes. I know people who eat cold canned pasta right out of the can, to me that's worse than breaking the noodles especially when you consider they likely had to break the noodles to fit them in a can.
