If you can get unprinted news paper sheets ask at printers you can use that over and over and you can press it with books as a weight instead of actually putting in the books or you can help your local second hand store and second hand book stores economy buy books just for this
If you put a sheet of wax paper down your box won’t get ruined and the risk of losing petals is a lot less! I press a lot of my flowers with stems or in arrangements. On thicker pieces I spray with rubbing alcohol to prevent mold.
I honestly wouldn't mind if watching this everytime you do it. Even like if you're not talking much in it and its just you explaining the flowers, then the process of pressing and then putting them in the photo album. I'd honestly watch it for hours.
We Indians have been using this method from decades for storing precious flowers . 😃 but never thought of using them with resin.. now m eager to work with them.. thanks for the video.❤🙏🙂
She kind of mentioned that it was about 1.5-2weeks, so I'd assume about that, maybe a little longer for big flowers, especially considering some of hers were still a little wet! :) (This reply is probably irrelevant considering your comment is from two months ago. Haha)
Depends on how dry or wet the flower is. Some flowers need 1 week, others 3-4 weeks. The thicker the flower the more moisture it holds so it would take longer.
This is really an old school method. My mom taught me this when i was a little girl. The heavier the book the better, but she taught me to use wax paper. Im not sure if that helps anyone but sometimes when you press flowers n leaves (for fall) you may get a inky residue from colors. This helps save your books from being ruined. If you don't have wax paper you might be able to use paper towels but I haven't tried that yet. Just an idea...
NOTE: you can also use 2 piece of MDF wood about 16 by11, 3 millimeters thick, papertowles & parchment paper. 1 piece of wood, then 2 sheets paper towel, next parchment-place the flowers, then parchment on top of flowers, then papertowles & the last piece of MDF wood, secure with elastic bands & place weighted object (I.e., books) on top....flowers will be ready in 10-14 days. (place in a plastic container with a good lid, put 2 pieces of papertowles & some silica beads, fold over & glue or tape.
thank you for this! I need something to keep me from going insane so I turned to pressing flowers. This tutorial really helped, so thanks! I'll be coming back
oh my! youŕe so cheerful. I love the flowers you picked and your orange shirt with them as well. I used parchment papers but I guess this is easier way
I love your videos I watch all day long I have learn so much since and made beautiful coaster I am yet to try my new flower hubby got me for our wedding anniversary ❤ youpie can't wait to try it 😊 good job girl your amaze me and I am thinking of maybe starting a channel now one day Thank you love ya beautiful flower resin girl 👧
Just found your channel today and your content is incredible! I'm a huge crafter and all of this looks so interesting. Can't wait to try out drying flowers.
You know how I like she used bigger and puffy flowers to show us how she presses them as I have trouble pressing them without having it look bad and most of the time the flowers that are available at my local flower shop are very puffy and have lots of layers thank you
I don’t know about plastic wrap but I like to use wax paper when I press flowers. Does the shop that you work at sell house plants? I’ve been looking for a good place to by them but have no luck near me. I have the same cook book that I use for pressing as well lol
Thanks for the vid! I've seen parchment paper or wax paper used below and ontop of the flower before pressing. I'd love to see an 'unbooking' video where you pull the flowers out after they've been pressed and dried. Do you use your pressed flowers immediately after removing them out of the book or do you have a way to store them for a later use?
Is it better to work with flowers which are very fresh before pressing? I always try to preserve the ones my BF gives me after a few days of enjoying them, but I'm wondering if I should save one or two blooms right away?
Ty for that video it was helpful... may I ask why always the pinks and burgundy, peachy color flowers why never the blues and yellows and other colors? Just curious
Hey girl....love your videos! I too work for a florist (I am not a florist by any means, I do all the administrative stuff but I get to play with flowers every once in a while 😜. You have given me so many ideas!!! Already started pressing flowers last week! I am very impatient so this waiting for them to dry is torture!!! Cant wait to start experimenting 💐💐💐
"They're so adorable so we're going to cut their little heads off" 😳❤️🤣 I had to wipe iced tea off of my phone after hearing that! Lol! I love your quirky adorableness!!
Hey, I have a couple questions about pictures in resin. I watched your video about it and tried it yesterday. I did laminate it but i ran across some problems and not sure what I did wrong. Let me start by saying that I haven't got my alcohol ink yet so I used liquid acrylic instead. I poured the thinest layer of clear resin, layer laminated picture down face first, pushed it down, poured the rest of the clear resin on top, dripped some of the liquid acrylic and twirled it. When it cured the color had migrated to in front of the picture. This is literally the third time I have ever done resin. I really want to do a picture coaster. Should I not use the liquid acrylic? Should I do a layer of clear with the picture and then another layer after a few hours of curing? Any help would be so appreciated
I'm kinda new and I really need to preserve a flower soon because it's starting to turn a bit brown on one petal and I just want to know if pressing it means that it will look exactly the way it does now (colorful and not brown or shriveled) forever as long as I press it????
hi! i love your channel so much and would like to preserve a bouquet i just received! i have a small flower press with paper and cardboard inserts, but the last time i used it all my flowers molded! any advice how to prevent that? thank you!
I know this an older vid but I’m a new sub. I think I got recommended your channel because of searching google about drying flowers!! I’m so glad I found you because I’m in love! Normally the only art channels I sub to are collage and art journal stuff, but you’re really making me want to get into resin and such so bad!! 🌸 🌹 🌺 💐
Hi ! First : I love your work, and your spirit, a real sunshine !!! But I have a question : I tried to dry flowers but they rotten before drying... have you any idea for the reason of that ? Thank you so much !!
I sae a pinterest “hack” that use 2 cement bricks and some fabric and microwave it for 2 min....does it work? It is safe??? You should do a “testing hacks video” 😂
Out of date encyclopedias work great for this! I have some that are literally as old as me and I’m 35 lol 😆 are you pressing fresh flowers or ones that are a few days old that have started to wilt? Oh and I’d wear gloves when doing this because some flowers pollen can stain your skin and even cause irritation to it.
Omg gurl I new you were from NH with the shape of your pieces and then you say Gtown ???? Like what I just moved from there to NC . All my children went to Gtown and I do know the flower shop so it’s like watching a piece of home as I moved due to my health . The goddess is watching over me and no wonder I stopped on your channel 💜✨🔮🌸🌼🌷💐🌺
I use sheets of paper towels between the pages of the book and the flowers. This way the flowers don't get mouldy, because the paper towels absorbs the extra moisture :)
If you don't have a bunch of big books this can be done with paper back novels using a shelf to jam the books flat with the pages facing out into the room
Really nice channel! I'm seeing a lot of your videos 🙌 I have a question. I pressed some Roses for about a week. Today I was checking them and I saw they have funghi. Anybody knows why maybe this happened? Thank you 🌸
No, I just press them & let them dry out that way & when they’re dry I put them straight into resin! I think if you dried them in silica gel first, you wouldn’t be able to press them because they’d be too 3D & you’d crush them. ❤️
I seriously gasped when you first showed your pile of books & I saw a Harry Potter book (2nd book from the top) there. My hubby even asked me if I was okay 😩😩😫😫
agh what a great video! I don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers- your videos are so great ❤️ I’m trying to learn how to press flowers for a small business soon
About to use my $500 college textbooks that are now worth $2 to press these flowers
Lmfao! One of my favorite comments 😂 isn’t that freakin ridiculous though?
Artsy Madwoman I literally just got done putting them in there 💀😂 it’s ridiculous how much they lose value in two years
Exactly what I was thinking! Lol
If you can get unprinted news paper sheets ask at printers you can use that over and over and you can press it with books as a weight instead of actually putting in the books or you can help your local second hand store and second hand book stores economy buy books just for this
love this comment loolololol
"oh my goodness, they're so adorable"
*Cuts their heads off* 🤣
Literally just laughed out loud 😂😅
Lmao!!
I think you can use parchment paper instead of plastic wrap. The parchment will protect the book pages. Cool channel. I’ll be back!
Yesss! I think that’s what I was trying to think of! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, parchment paper.
@@ArtsyMadwoman or WAXED PAPER which is almost the same
It works most the time but if you USA the artificially colored flowers it can srill stain book 👍a
I’m using coffee filters at the moment cause that’s wat I got

Pinch the sides of the snap dragon and it makes the mouth “open “ I love those
Snap dragons are my all-time favorite flower. I loved seeing them in this tutorial!
I honestly wouldn't mind if watching this everytime you do it. Even like if you're not talking much in it and its just you explaining the flowers, then the process of pressing and then putting them in the photo album. I'd honestly watch it for hours.
AH! I just started watching you, amd I LOVE how you talk through and describe everything you are doing. Thank you!!! Your work is beautiful!!
I love the way you give details of the flower…it’s good to know the different type of flowers.
I just love you! All your videos have been sooo helpful. Can't wait to try this!

I love your personality so much.
LOVE YOUR FLOWERS.... my friend has a flower shoppe. Cant wait to see what he gets in to dry...
Nice job of showing how to press flowers. But I have one more important question. How long do you leave them in the book?
Diane Bruder when I do I’ll usually leave them for two to three weeks and if it’s a thicker flower I’ll leave of for longer
She kind of mentioned that it was about 1.5-2weeks, so I'd assume about that, maybe a little longer for big flowers, especially considering some of hers were still a little wet! :) (This reply is probably irrelevant considering your comment is from two months ago. Haha)
So when you take them out, are they considered dry?
@@mariapena5151 I would also like to know about this.
Depends on how dry or wet the flower is. Some flowers need 1 week, others 3-4 weeks. The thicker the flower the more moisture it holds so it would take longer.
Snapdragon seed pods look like little skulls. It's wicked, I love them so much for that reason

I use paper towels. They absorb the moisture, don't stick, and don't ooze in the books. Love your work :) !
I just found your channel in the midst of trying to preserve the first bouquet my boyfriend got me. You got yourself a new subscriber!!!!🥰
"Look at these, they are so adorable. Sooo, we are gonna cut their little heads off..." Hahahaha....Love it

What used to be called 'blotting paper' is absorbent enough to take up the moisture in the flowers. Or even kitchen paper towel.

Love your personality and "now lets cut their heads off" 😂 Question: Do the flowers have to be "fresh" to get the best press?
How long do you leave the flowers in the books? I guess it varies due to sizes being different but just a general idea?
Usually between 2-4 weeks! But usually it’s just large flowers like roses that need to be pressed for very long
do you dry the flowers in silica gel before or after pressing them? or can you just press them and then add to resin? thank you :)
No, I just press them & let them dry out that way & when they’re dry I put them straight into resin! I think if you dried them in silica gel first, you wouldn’t be able to press them because they’d be too 3D & you’d crush them. ❤️

Yayyy! Thank you so much ❤️
Please do another video when you take them out of the book with information on the time it took for them to dry. Thank you 😊
Why do my leaves and plants lose the green? Is there a way to keep the color?
If you dry them completely before you put them in resin, they should stay green!
