I'm from South Africa and our Orca are in the Oceans off the Cape Coast, awesome animals! Where is this poor animals space ? Stimulation ? Ext ect ect ? Crazy to me...
The documentary Black Fish put a ton of light on this, and since that documentary aquariums have been scaling back on their large animals. Though Sea World is just changing their shows with their Orcas from entertainment to 'educational' and still make them do tricks. While promising to not bring anymore in... We'll see how long that lasts.

@@TecraX2 Have some empathy. We humans should never keep any pack animal alone in captivity. it's just cruel, particularly for orcas, they are highly intelligent animals with lifelong bonds with their pod members.
@@advancedmonkey7702 I read in the comments that Kiska has died already, but I'm still curious what your "ideal solution" would have been... I saw one comment eg. suggesting relocating lone Orcas to the group of 5 at Sea World, but I suspect that even if cost wasn't an issue, the tight bonds within a pod would probably still be an issue!
I was in Niagara Falls, ON a few days ago and when I drove past marineland I got sick to my stomach. I had completely forgotten that that is where it was.
A part of me understands keeping a pod of orcas in a giant tank. They are beautiful creatures and it's amazing to see them in person. But that's also why they shouldn't be kept like that. Captivity often times causes a lot of mental harm. Like those captive bears that, even once freed, walk circles around a tree out of habit. All because that's all they did their whole life. I hate to think of the psychological damage Kiska endured.
Kiska died from a bacterial infection in March 2023, She probably would have survived if the Canadian goverment hadn't gotten in the way of saving her. Marineland was in talks with the Whale Sanctuary Project at the end of 2021, a few days after the meeting the Niagara police charged Marineland with using whales and dolphins for entertainment purposes, which is prohibited under the Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act. Which caused Marineland to break off discussions with the Whale Sanctuary Project to move Kiska, after a year of court hearings the crown finally dropped the charges (as it was not in the public interest) but as you can figure out it was to late for Kiska.
Humanity truly socks! Poor poor animal they're our beautiful animals God gave us to enjoy and care for not abuse I hope all these devils pay for what they've done to these precious souls ❤😢💔😞RIP BEAUTIFUL ANGEL MAY YOUR SOUL BE WITH YOUR CREATOR SO SORRY YOU MET DEMONIC HUMANS
All the millions of people who sat in the bleachers and cheered at the degradation of these animals are as guilty because they provided the incentive. If no one paid to see that sad spectacle, these prison camps would all close.
That orca can still die not because of illnesses but depression. Dolphins, orcas, belugas and whales are some of the few species who could die just because they lost the will to live.
As a kid ya never thought anything wrong with Marineland. I went 10 years ago and it looked rundown and the animals were all sad. Never go back and I hope I hey free them all
I don’t understand how Orcas should be held captive when they’re one of the strongest mammals ever and can take CARE of themselves yet these people are worried they would beached themselves.
The saddest story is Keiko aka "Free Willy" kept in a large swimming pool for 14 years in Mexico City. They would pour bags of salt in the water and there was no circulation or cooling system.
“Died from a bacterial infection” seems pretty common among captive orcas. They definitely killed kiska because her seclusion was causing to much backlash.
This makes me disgusted to be a human..knowing we've done this to an intelligent beautiful animal. Whats wrong with people? Money is more important than doing the right thing . Just happy she finally has peace and are not alone anymore
thats like being locked in your bathroom for your entire life without human contact, and occasionally some minnows swim up into the toilet for you to eat.
I know the park is closed for the winter, but how is anyone still paying to go to that place? I went as a kid back in the 80's and loved it. Took my kids as adult around 2015 and was sick to my stomach at the state of the animals.
back in '95 the park seemed very clean and busy, they also put on a very good show of pretending to really care about the animals, though a lot of that was them pushing back against free willy.
Probably because there are still kids around. Kids love zoos, parents love kids being happy, parents are willing to go to depressing places that make their kids happy. The zoos haven't changed, your perception of them has (at least that's what the case was for me).
This is harrowing 🥺 please share this video to make people realise how wrong keeping these incredible creatures in captivity is, I just can’t wrap my head around why anyone would think it’s acceptable! I understand she couldn’t be released but the kindest thing would have been euthanasia rather than solitary confinement, insanity and slowly swimming around and around until death. There is a special place in hell for those who allowed this to happen
At the very least she didn’t die in a tank but still the loneliness is heartbreaking, couldn’t they have at least moved her somewhere where it looks like she would have interactions regularly? Like some animals in captivity get games and other things to occupy their time. Just to swim around and around and be so lonely :(
If we ever get abducted and thrown into an intergalactic zoo, where we live inside a small bathroom for the rest of our days while other creatures stream in and out daily to watch you, but every night you are alone again, cold again, lost again. We have no room to argue this fate. We did the same to others so who are we to say this treatment is wrong.
It's the fact it's a tank with nothing to look at. She has to go above water to see anything. It's larger than most tanks iv seen, but damn...There is no way to replicate the wild ocean close enough. Sad.

Ope! Here it is! ruclips.net/video/mkFn7_3-ALg/видео.html
@GrumpyIan You don't see great white sharks or leopard seals in those parks doing circus tricks.
That was the most depressing sight... those poor animals. I hope Kiska is united with family now in a heavenly ocean 😢🌈
For those wondering,
Kiska died from a bacterial infection on March 10, 2023 at the age of 46.
an Orca should never be alone. 😭😭
Environmentalists "Logic" 101
Environmentalists: "Orcas should not be kept in captivity"
Marine Parks: "Fine, we won't capture more"
Environmentalists: "Now the last surviving Orca is all alone... An Orca should never be alone!"
@@TecraX2 I don't have an ideal solution but I think we should all advocate for stopping holding any wild caught orcas.
RIP kiska 😔❤️🐳
I was in Niagara Falls, ON a few days ago and when I drove past marineland I got sick to my stomach. I had completely forgotten that that is where it was.
If that doesn't hit your heart I'm sorry you are soulless
I’d rather know that these beautiful mammals meet their maker in the deep big blue rather than in a goldfish bowl.
Even goldfish DON'T live long in those bowls!
What about the belugas, are they not trapped as well
They picked the locks.
It is crazy how small the enclosure is. When you realize they are meant to roam the ocean. Being social creatures migrating in packs.
This is heartbreaking
Thanks alot Phil. I was happier not seeming this
Yes dan, Phil is the problem here 🤡
Yes yes, comfortable ignorance is so much easier!
These places need to be completely shut down.
They were bought by a new owner so who knows what will happen.
This made me want to cry.
Ok first of all, why did the enclosure appear to be so delapidated and unkept?
Rest in Peace
Kiska, Harambe & other innocent wildlife that have suffered under captivity for no reason. It's very cruel & unfair. May they all rest in peace.
Harambe was well cared for, safe and happy. That stupid kid got him killed.
damn, imagine solitary confinement your entire existence -.-
So alone! So Sad!
Can’t believe this is still happening.
beyond sad af.
RIP Kiska... You will not forgetten like Tilikum...
Marineland or the people in charge should be held accountable. Disgusting.
Anyone know any links or organizations trying to stop this and how we can support her release?
She passed away this spring.😢
There are so many beautiful and wonderful ways to view animals in their natural habitat. No animal was asked to be put in a cage.
All the millions of people who sat in the bleachers and cheered at the degradation of these animals are as guilty because they provided the incentive. If no one paid to see that sad spectacle, these prison camps would all close.
This is like a human being trapped inside a coffin. Think about that next time you visit a zoo or circus. Even elephant or donkey rides are terrible.
more like a human trapped in a room.
not that its decent but it really isn't like a coffin.
@@thorsten13999 Animals travel for miles, couch potato humans are no comparison.
nope, but nice try
Why wouldn't they allow it to be released. You'd think someone would arrange to have it transferred to the ocean to be released back in to the wild.
Please !!!! Someone have to do something 😢 this is so wrong 😢
Whatever happened to the five or six other fish in the upper left corner
Belugas. They were sold to the Mystic Aquarium.
This is the whale equivalent of "in space, no one can hear you scream". Must've been awful!
The owners, and their offspring, should be kept in isolation until the end of days. The rich are destroying humanity.
That orca can still die not because of illnesses but depression. Dolphins, orcas, belugas and whales are some of the few species who could die just because they lost the will to live.
Extremely cruel treatment of these amazing creatures.
That's really sad. Don't they swim south for the winter?
Rest in peace Kiska
It’s heartbreaking to see what little empathy humans have
I keep seeing MarineLandand all i see is MarineLand of the Pacific. Condos are now on that land.
Isn't there a sanctuary she can go to?
The saddest story is Keiko aka "Free Willy" kept in a large swimming pool for 14 years in Mexico City. They would pour bags of salt in the water and there was no circulation or cooling system.
Warner Bros. installed a cooling system for him after the movie was made.
We can be the worst species at times...this makes me sick...pray for her and the people that did this
I’m seeing this started in 2021 is there an update?
Some Humans are disguating.
Wait, where is this located again??
THIS IS SO WRONG! HOW COULD SOMEONE SIGN OFF ON THIS.
Criminal
Charges should be put forward on these criminal operations disguised as legit enterprises involving animals.
Where these people this company ever held accountable? Is this still going on at other parks. Why can't anything be done
Free at last... RIP sweet soul!
“Died from a bacterial infection” seems pretty common among captive orcas. They definitely killed kiska because her seclusion was causing to much backlash.
Awful to keep such a big animal in such a small place 😔
This makes me disgusted to be a human..knowing we've done this to an intelligent beautiful animal. Whats wrong with people? Money is more important than doing the right thing . Just happy she finally has peace and are not alone anymore
As a society we are failing the wildlife & nature we share this world with & as Richard Attenborough once said, ‘what happens next, is up to us’.
DAVID! 🤦🏻♂️
thats like being locked in your bathroom for your entire life without human contact, and occasionally some minnows swim up into the toilet for you to eat.
How long can you survive without food like this is awful these people should be in prison
I know the park is closed for the winter, but how is anyone still paying to go to that place? I went as a kid back in the 80's and loved it. Took my kids as adult around 2015 and was sick to my stomach at the state of the animals.
Dang, Tilikum was responsible for 3 deaths and the movie Blackfish had already come out well b4 2015 and you still went to see captive orcas.
@Artofficial I've never seen Blackfish and I don't watch TV. What's your point, chief?
back in '95 the park seemed very clean and busy, they also put on a very good show of pretending to really care about the animals, though a lot of that was them pushing back against free willy.
Probably because there are still kids around. Kids love zoos, parents love kids being happy, parents are willing to go to depressing places that make their kids happy. The zoos haven't changed, your perception of them has (at least that's what the case was for me).
Zoo’s usually keep animals that are unfit for wildlife or are being rehabilitated.
I feel so helpless 😭😭😭 poor poor creature . 🖕🏽 You humans who think it is ok
Hey MarineLand, you do realize Karma never forgets an address
Her story breaks my heart.. how evil are humans to take her freedom and way of life for our entertainment
people if you want her to go to a sanctuary raise money for said sanctuary!!
Sad.
They are way too smart to live in solitary confinement like that.
Reminds me of an inmate I once use to know.
If animals understood what we do to them and how easily, we would be doomed.
swim free, Kiska. ❤️
Absolutely distrubing
