- "Eagle" is a song that was recorded in 1977 by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was the first selection on the group's fifth album, ABBA: The Album, in terms of the album's sequence of songs, and the longest selection they ever recorded (at 5:51, 1 second longer than "The Day Before You Came" at 5:50). The third and last official single from ABBA: The Album, it was released only in a limited number of territories as a single and in France as a double A-side with "Thank You for the Music."

Great song, my mother was a big ABBA fan back in the 70s, she told me a while back that at one point I told her I wanted to be in ABBA when I grew up, everything seems so attainable when you're a kid, the whole idea just sounds ridiculous now, I wouldn't have minded being Bjorn during the 70s though.

Okay, this I have to take issue with. This is NOT the long version, that has nothing to do with anything. It's simply the normal version, the one we all know, because, unlike many others songs of theirs that could have been extended (which some fans have done masterfully for a few of their songs on RUclips), this one amazingly appeared on the album and this form, while the wretched, unasked for edit as only done for radio., and sadly the odd compilation I get.
...that's why, I have written in the title "long album version", not extended version. There exist also a short version (4:25min) and a 7" edit (3:36 min).
@@user-WhiteCat1965 Yes, but my meaning is, why did you have to. It isn't 'long' it's just it's natural time. No one's writing 'short version' on a 'Mamma Mia' video or anything. This is the only version that everyone heard before it was put out as a single, and obviously it's going to be cut into for that reason. Saying its' 'long' gives the impression it's not supposed to be that length for anyone somehow not knowing less obvious ABBA tunes. That's all I meant. It isn't 'long' at all, it's the length it's supposed to be.

The lyrics suggest to me the thoughts of a primitive human encountering otherworldly beings for the first time.
A bygone era where music was a labor of love and quality and tge fans took center stage unlike today where quantity prevails and money is the name of the game. (No allusion to ABBA single bearing the same name). A handful of bands today have the same standards as ABBA quality-wise when it comes to music. They respect themselves and their fans. Again, just a handful.

As most ABBA fans don’t know yet is the ABBA was formed in Sweden as well Stig Anderson their manager used the initials of their first names!!!
Also ABBA first (1st) song was “”” People need love “””” while Benny and Bjorn sang it 2gether followed by Agnetha and Annifrid(Frida)sang in the back ground harmony……they even tried Waterloo in Swedish but it never made it 4 the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden so they only way was to do it in English language so they might be in successfull❤ in Brighton United Nations…..and it did pay off in Brighton United Kingdom they won the Eurovision Song Contests in 1974…,,,,,,,but Agnetha was hoping that the baby won’t be coming prior the Eurovision Song Contest as they did first in Sweden in the year 1973 so Bjorn and Agnetha gave birth to Linda in February 1973 as well to Christian in December 1977 …….so everyone was married too….but alas they all got divorced as well……after 40 years later they made another album in the year 2022 which is called “””” Voyage “”””” as well in the same year they done a concert in the United Kingdom too!!! I am hoping that ABBA makes another album
