I love it especially when the landing goes to the east (09). It's a 6 degree instead of 3 degree approach.
5.5 degree approach.
What’s going on the spoiler? That’s not normal deployment for roll control
Very well spotted! As mentioned in the cockpit view video of the a220, on this approach the spoilers remain armed for the entire approach. Means, they stay extended at around 30% until fully deployed at touchdown. Thank you for watching! Dominic
It’s a special steep angle approach software mod that is needed to be able to maintain speed on the steeper descent. On Embraers with it fitted there is a steep approach switch. It’s 5.5 degrees because of Canary Wharf to the West (and not 6 degrees as has been noted elsewhere).
