Too many of these old treasures being hoarded by collectors and sitting in vaults. Great to see this one out in its natural environment, doing what it was born to do.
I agree. Whether it’s classic cars or vintage guitars, if you trailer these cars to car shows or hang these guitars in a glass case, I get the same enjoyment as the owner because we’re all just standing around looking at them. And I didn’t have to shell out megabucks to purchase them or insure them. Thanks, Jason, for putting it through it’s paces on a regular basis.
So true. Norman at Normans rare guitars is worse than the Diamond companies in creating a fake market...he has a warehouse of these beautiful instruments.
So glad you got this guitar Jason because you can do it justice. The tone is amazing! So many classic sounds off of the records we all grew up on and loved. And you are a great artist, songwriter, and musician in your own right. Brilliant stuff man!
Right! Got the vintage 59 burst and 50 watt Marshall in the cart. Anyone have a link to the ability to play like I’ve practiced 8 hours a day for 25 years? I’m ready to pull the trigger on the purchase
The magic about ‘Burst (the average that is good, when ‘good’ is fantastic, and the ones that are epic, where you are in the out of this world range) is about being so FULL but with THAT clarity and definition of every harmonics the guitar produces. These guitars sound like... a rainbow.
Just look back on the video interviews Ed did at the end of his life. He played the guitar, he shared it, it was something he loved. He wanted it to be played. It couldn't have found it's way somebody who appreciates it more and will use it.
I love guitar, it just keeps giving, it’s like they connect you to some higher magic, even if you aren’t even all that good. Just sit down with a beer or a cup of tea and a lose yourself in that shit. x
So glad I stumbled onto this video. Great job, Jason, I really enjoy your playing and how you approach owning this guitar. You and Sadler really bring it!!
That sounds loud even through my laptop speakers :) Amazing guitar, super interesting instrument, great playing and tone....but my custom shop Les Paul sounds pretty similar...It's still just a guitar (With a HUGE history behind it)...
What a great vid. Great that he goes through so many settings. So glad he found a way to get this and give us all a really giddy spin with it. PS So much buzz... My Marshall 50w stack is not a s noisy
In all the live versions that exist on video page clearly starts on the neck for the first notes then switches to the middle and then on to the bridge . Also page did not use les Paul's with his supro he used his tele with the supro.
False, Page was way into his recently-acquired 59 Les Paul by the time recording for Led Zeppelin III began, and there's tons of video of him using the LP for live recordings of SIBLY as well. It's LP with vintage PAFs all the way on this.
@@antipsychosoup6709 true he had his 59 by Zep 2 that Joe Walsh gave which he did most of Zep 2 on. Wut he used live has nothing to do with wut he used in the studio. He also used the Tele on the solo to Stairway to Heaven on Zep 4. Itz possible Page had access to a Les Paul with PAF'S but I never heard about it or seen it in a picture which doesn't mean squat anyways but anything's possible
My 50 watt Marshall will tear your head off. As we all know, 100 watt Marshalls are near impossible to be next to. But this is known. great fiddle right there.
@@05645ci No doubt. or a power soak off camera perhaps. I fired my 50 watt JCM last night and it is still quite brutal. Made even more so by a recent re-cap and slight mod that makes it a touch darker.
Needed a good room mike, great to see a real Marshall flat out. There are a lot of great reproductions of this model guitar. So many good sounds. Clean boost the neck pickup.
One of the best ive heard, but if you listen close, it sounds very different to your normal 59....The PAFS, have a completely distinct tone...And while im writing this, his friend said the same thing...It doesnt sound like PAFS to me, i know they are but something is different..
Depends on the guitar n what Jimmy's feelin. On mine its fun in the middle with the neck on 7, then tweek the bridge into a sweet spot. Fer leed you bump the bridge to 10, then theres the straight bridge position on 10, lil slight boost. But in the middle you get 90% what you need. Infinately fun!! Mines n ol 74
I HAVE LES PAULS FROM EVERY DECADE THEY ALL SOUND GREAT NOT ONE SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE OTHER,YOU DON'T NEED A VINTAGE INSTRUMENT TO SOUND GOOD, 4030-23
Flipping the pickup around does nothing to alter phase . Peter greens guitar was out of phase becuase the magnet got installed wrong after one of the coils had to be rewind and was rewound with formvar wire so it had one coil with plain enamel wire and one coil with formvar wire and the magnet fipped . Flipping the pickup alone does nothing to alter phase and installing the cover wrong does nothing to alter phase either .
Great playing Jason. But you lost me at a pedal demo. I wish you would have just went straight into the 50 watt and let us hear the guitar and the tone created by your playing!
Sounds great but reminds me of when I use my Marshall with a hotplate but have it turned up a little too much into full on saturation or with the bass turned up too much. I don't know maybe they jumpered the channels? I know it can sound better but still pretty damn cool. Love Redeye. Great players for sure and nice guys. I enjoyed it fella's. Not complaining just saying I have heard that sound before.
Should anyone reading this be a collector of vintage guitars but not a player.. I will gladly be a custodian, And I will make beautiful music in your honor. Kidding not kidding.
Gee i think its great but it ain't $499,000 dollars better than my 2002 les paul studio ebony with all upgraded electronics, hardware, etc and brandon wound pickups thru a Fuchs bj21 mkii with celestion classic 30 made in uk miked up! And i agree too many fabulous guitars bought for museums or investments that should get played. Oh well such is life. Eddie didn't spend much on his guitars did he?? Its really all about composing in case you young guys haven't figured that out yet.
That crazy hollow woody bite saw tooth thing... yeah, no new Gibson does that. My 8.8 lb prehistoric reissue flame top is the closest with the Shaws but, no purple wire doesn't have that smoothness that real PAF's have. Still close than any boutique like trobak arcane doyles so many more can't name them all but, it's the light old dry wood and the right pickup design. Gibson's custombucker 3's and the dense wood makes them all sound dead.

It makes me so happy to see Jason carry the legacy of that guitar with such loving respect. He's a class act.
I love it when great guitars end up in the hands of great guitar players ... and I bet the guitars do, too
I wish I could give an extra thumbs up for the appearance of Sadler f'n Vaden!
Fucking hell, that bridge pickup through the marshall is fucking absurdly good.
Fantastic guitar...an absolute treasure !
Plays since I’ve been loving

Him: yeah I think that’s about right
My wife: are you crying?

What a nice guy, a very fortunate one as well thanks for sharing all your memories and information on the 59 👍🏻 it’s gorgeous 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this beautiful 59!! So nice to see people actually playing them!!
That’s the closest most accurate “Money For Nothing” Intro I’ve heard on RUclips.
One of the best parts about 2020 with stuff like this

Only 630 subscribers on Sadler’s channel, the dude is a monster on guitar.....
You are doing some great playing on it and thanks for giving us the full show of what a burst should be.
So much fun. You guys made my heart smile today. Thanks.
we are all suckers for the old guys and their gear ! Great playin' ! Congrats man !
What old guy ??
It has a crisp sound bringing clarity to each individual note when played , and chords tend to blend notes into a slight distortion.
Holy shit. That guitar/amp combo is a monster!
Both killer guitar players. Thanks fellas!

I don't play guitar but i love this one. Yes Jason Isbell and DBT are on my top list -ever. 25 envy ppl disliking, nice.
"Weird birthday gigs in the Hamptons" I could only imagine. Tell me more please.
A couple of great players, very inspiring! Thanks you guys!
Thanks for the vid fellas! Good times.
When he said about the half cocked wah sound. That’s how Mick Ronson set his sound for Bowie on Ziggy Stardust.
That 59 is gorgeous. Awesome tone too
Homework done by these boys!
Ah yes, the Tomatotone. My personal favorite. It goes good with everything.
TomatoTone! Jsson must be a fan of Dan & Mick (That Pedal Show). ☺️
What an axe👍great player and he’s got a sense of humour to boot.

Amazing to hear. I think Gibson got the MHS humbuckers very close. How does it feel to put a ding in a guitar that expensive?
Does anyone know what brand the blue les paul case in the background is?
So fun !! Informative, inspiring.
Thanks guys.
Well, that certainly is some sick tone...what a sick and twisted fella. Cheers to that!
Imagine Jason put out a classic rock album...
He rocks out in his live shows. I saw him do a long cover of Whpping Post with this guitar.
Ed King would be proud.
Proper playing and tone, guys! Those cranked amps are the real deal.
that Bridge PAF really does have the "3D" thing going on that the cork sniffers talk about
Your guitar jam at the end. Was really good, can hear the tellicaster stratocaster differences loud and clear on lead and rythm
Love guitars and sneakers. Glad to see you rocking the Jordans
In all the live versions that exist on video page clearly starts on the neck for the first notes then switches to the middle and then on to the bridge . Also page did not use les Paul's with his supro he used his tele with the supro.
Love the Cincinnati chili reference.
Jimmy page used his telecaster on since I been Loving you & manually adjusted the volume knob
That's what I think

What the hell is jason doing around 30:28? To get that sustain/ebow type ring? Is there a name for this technique?

$400,000 to $500,000

50w Marshall on 10.
No way in hell the SIBLY intro is in the middle position
So this entire demo was going through a pedal, if so , why? I would love to hear the instrument cleanly no pedals.
