It took me a while to understand the duel mechanics in this game (lightly squeezing the trigger before fully pulling it, etc). It could definitely be better explained, lol.
I personally looked up a cheat sheet that showed me where all the bones and other collectibles you might find in the game are cuz it's just too overwhelming for me looking for them personally. But going to the places is is fun and exploring around those areas. They don't show you on the map until you find each one individually.
The guy with the house under construction; there was a little mission chain involving him. Helping with a shoot out. Getting him some lumber, then finally stopping by later when the house is done. You could have been such good friends. lol. If you see an animal and want to see if it's a 1, 2, or 3 star pelt, use your binoculars and study it. If it doesn't show the stars when you aim a weapon at it, it means it's too far away and Arthur can't see how good the pelt is. If you look in the compendium it will recommend a weapon type to kill it without damaging the pelt. Using a gun that's too large for the animal will damage the pelt. (using a repeater on a rabbit) Using a gun that's too small will also damage the pelt since it takes so many shots to kill it. (using a repeater on a bison or bear) When you can afford it, you'll want to pick up a rifle (I like the springfield rifle with a medium scope) for large game and a varmint rifle for small game like rabbits, skunks, and beaver. Named guns like Grangers revolver are unique. They're often more ornate, but unlike normal guns can't be upgraded at a gunsmith. When you pick one up, you don't actually lose the gun you drop. You can still switch back to it from your saddle inventory. Condition can be improved by maintaining guns from the weapon wheel. (if you have gun oil) You also get a better look at the gun so you can see how fancy they are. Normally you don't see that from the 3rd person camera. Remember in the second episode when you did the hunting tutorial with Charles? When you're in eagle eye (where you were looking for loot or tracks) you can see Arthurs scent coming off him. (the little swirly thing you were wondering about) That shows the wind direction. This is important when hunting because if your scent is blowing towards an animal, they'll smell you and run away before you're close enough for a shot. A couple of other tips for you: Certain drinks (like ginsing elixer) will permanently increase your stats. There's one for health, one for stamina, and one for deadeye. One type for each I mean. There are multiple bottles to find all over the map. Also, in the upper part of the item selector, You can top up the outer bar for your health, stamina, or deadeye. Each stat has it's own section with a range of consumables. Faster than just using generic food. Cooked meat will fill your cores the fastest so you can just carry a bunch of that and sell the canned goods you find at a general store. When you skin something, build a fire and cook up a bunch of meat to keep in the satchel. (it doesn't go bad) When you get money in a mission, the gang gets half. The other half is split between the members on the mission. Arthur, Bill, and John split $300 of the cabin money which is why your share was $100. If you die, you lose 5% of whatever money you had on you so it's worth spending your money on new guns, tack for your horse, weapon upgrades, or clothes since you never lose that stuff. Dying rich means you just lose more. :^( When you were at the gunsmith, you looked at his catalog but not his services. While a lot of stuff is locked till specific points of the game, there's a couple of rifles that are available to buy. The stable is locked till a specific mission so you can't buy stuff there yet. I'm trying not to be too spoilery with my tips but there's so much going on in this game that it's easy to miss instructions or info that's only on the screen for a short while. (or not explained at all)

4:43 This game is absolutely packed to the brim with discoveries like this...often not as creepy though. Honestly, RDR2 is unironically one of the creepiest games I've played in years. If not for Dead-Eye, this game would be terrifying at times. Also, avoid the swamps at night. You'll see...

I’m enjoying this so much! I just finished playing the story through for the first time & now I’m playing again but going super slow. Such an immersive and fun game! It’s so fun watching you play it too.
I love the way you take your time with the game and doing a lot of exploration! 🤠 Also, keep in mind that when you kill an animal and you have the animal carcass on your horse for too long, the meat eventually goes bad and the quality drops.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but next to the tithe box in camp is the ledger book. This is where you can resupply the camp and buy other things like leather working tools and camp upgrades. If you go by the bottle tree again use your eagle eye on it. I don't think this is a spoiler (if it is I apologize) but the killer clues are spread out over the map. As you explore take some time to read headstones. Spend the money and buy the newspapers as the stories can provide some context to the things you discover in the game. Picking up a new weapon adds it to your inventory and you do not lose any previously aquired weapons.
just a few tips and some info on how things work to help you out, to know how many stars an animal has before killing it you have to "study" that type of animal(study one deer you'll know about all deer, study one rabbit you'll know about all rabbits and so on) easiest way to do this is with binoculars or a gun with a scope otherwise you'll have to sneak up close to them and most animals will run away. when you drop an owned gun to pick up a new gun(like granger's pistol or the shotgun in the o'driskoll camp) you don't lose the one you drop, once you pick up a weapon it's yours, once it's yours you can always retrieve it from your saddle not important but for fun, if you have your pistol drawn double tap L1 to put it away with some style lol 🤠 and don't buy any guns yet, you'll get most of them through story mode or you'll find out in the world, once you have plenty of money though you can upgrade your guns, and the wraps for the rifles will slow down how quickly they get dirty, buy all the gun belts and bandoliers you can, the extra ammo benefit stacks for each one you OWN not just for the one you wear 36:36 bonnie mcfarlane was one of the main characters in RDR 1 54:11 it's none of my business but you probably don't want to park your horse on the tracks like that 🐎🚂 splat! lol the butcher wouldn't buy or sell to you because you had on a mask the stables will open and you'll get a horse brush through a mission real soon potions and tonics only restore the outer ring, you have to eat, drink, smoke or sleep to refill your cores you don't have to carry things to pearson, the butcher or the trapper, as long as your horse is near you can sell/donate things straight off your horse ok, sorry hope this wasn't too long, i know that's a lot of info all at once, i just saw a lot of things i could give tips on lol do with it what you want, enjoying the playthrough 😊😊
The swirls around Arthur in Eagle-eye is his own smell. The longer you go between baths, the stronger the swirls. This in turn will alert animals that you are hunting.
Just found your RDR2 series and I'm digging it. The only card games I know how to play are blackjack, cribbage, baccarat, and spades. Since I'm a native Wild Westerner, I'm currently learning how to play Faro. I also want to learn poker as well as pinochle, the most common card game I grew up watching my family play. Never got to learn it growing up since my dad always shooed me away.
For poker, Texas Hold 'Em (The poker in this game) is the easiest to learn and is very fun both in games and in real life. Texas Hold 'Em is the easiest because you only have to focus on 2 cards in your hands rather than 3 or 5 like the other versions. Once you learn Texas Hold 'Em, you'll never forget how to play.
I was going to say make sure and visit the man and his sons building the house at later intervals in the game. There's another 4 or so more interactions you can have with them. I've never robbed or killed them though, so that's probably a done deal now. Oh well, lol. The dinosaur bones aren't marked on your map, you have to find them. If you think you might be in the area of one, use eagle eye. A yellow plume will appear over the bone. You can use your binoculars to study an animal and see if it's 3 star. Using the scope on a rifle will do the same thing, but the binoculars have a better range. The difficulty with hunting at this point of the game is that you don't have all the proper weapons or the money to buy them. You can use the bow, crafting small game and improved arrows to help, but I'm much more of a rifle person myself. And there are tricks to getting better weapons this early, but I'm not sure how much of that kind of help you want. You need to do the hunting mission with Hosea to unlock the stables and everything horse related, like getting a grooming brush.
Fun playthrough! Id recommend using L2 to interact with things alot more, and use your tracker in camps and randomly to find more loot,plants and the dinosaur bones! Dont want you to miss anything and it is possible if your not careful Good luck on your RDR journey ma’am 🙂 Oh a be sure to use the things you find like food and potions its helps arthur and it can get very annoying when your sachel is full all the time
Too know if you have 1 or 3 star animals is by aiming the weapon at animal and pressing r1 to study them or your use the binoculars to study them as well
1:20:34 that around arthur's head is his scent and which way it is blowing, which can help you to hunt animals and make them less likely to smell you so you can get closer.
You have to get closer and study the animals to find out what level they are. I think you can use your binoculars to study them too, but it's been awhile since I played. Skinned animals go off quicker so if you're taking it back to camp you'll have to do it quickly or not skin it. I hope that you're having fun, there are plenty of more laughs and surprises to find.
Just started watching this playthrough and in the first five minutes of this episode she comes across the serial killer, wonder if in the later episodes she comes across the rest of the clues and whatnot and comes across the killer.
Great episode, looking forward to watching your journey through this awesome game! Using eagle eye will help find the dinosaur bones. They're pretty spread out throughout the world, so use it every once in a while when exploring the world. If you ever see ginseng elixir, guarma rum, or valerian root, make sure to drink it as soon as you pick it up. They increase health, stamina, and dead eye xp. Plus, you'll want to buy the varmint rifle from the gunsmith. It's for hunting small game like rabbits, skunks, etc. without ruining the pelts.
The trapper is more useful than the butcher. He can craft horse saddles, outfit and weapon equipments. Strauss and Hosea’s mission will help you everything you needed from this episode. That robbery tip will be part of a camp side quest. Camp side quests will be shown at a certain time of the day and it’s a missable quest too. Sometimes you need to check back in the camp if there is anything pop up in the map
Definitely to keep the camp happy you should upgrade your camp if you have money on the legder/same place as donation box just beside it. So you can have your place, and every other thing in the camp be upgraded!
If you lose your hat, you can equip it again while you're on your horse. Just go into your weapon/equipment menu and look for it there. Also, don't be afraid to antagonize fellow gang members and NPC's once in a while. The lines of dialogue in this game are amazing, and Arthur can be downright hilarious when he ribs people!
"Look on my works..." is a quote from a famous poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley called "Ozymandias." (Ozymandias was the Greek name for Ramesses II way back in the day.) Here's the relevant passage: "'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'" So... it seems like somebody might be out there killing people and quoting poetry.
And that is why it's next to impossible to edit out a simple ride to whatever location. rdr's world doesn't really react to you, it moves along with or without you.. you just never know what you will come upon.
I literally almost always come across a random encounter when I'm just riding so there's always something to do! Very rarely do I get long boring rides
You won’t lose any weapon when you replace to a new. You can always switch weapons while on your horse or near it. Now you have Sawed off Shotgun/ Cattlemen Revolver/Granger’s… etc
Drink your ginseng elixir, valerian root or aged pirate rum straight away. It gives you XP for either stamina, dead eye or health meaning you’ll have more to use

you should also when exploring make yourself a camp so you get your sleep, and when hunting ofc use that as food you can cook in your little campfire :D if thats not too early in the game i dont remember myself when you get the camp in the wheel thing
So my advice for you is to do more mission... from someone who has beat the game 5 times and has put 750+ hours into the game and still loves it. I promise it will help and teach you without spoiling anything. All I can say is that sometimes you're getting ahead of you're self with his game! But love your first play throw!
@2:09 If you see an O'Driscoll mouthing off to you in town, you can pretty much beat them up without repercussions from the law. In fact, I encourage you to either beat up or kill any O'Driscolls that come across your path. They're scumbags that don't deserve any better ...😆 @16:43 See how Arthur is walking?...Make sure you keep him fed and well rested as much as possible. Neglecting his eating and sleeping will drain your core levels faster and lead to poor shooting accuracy. You can also drink tonics for a quick boost of your levels. You can find them in your food/item menu.

There's some gold at the sheriff's at Limpany and the Dutch Warmblood at the Valentine stable is one of the best horses in the game.

when you drop an owned gun to pick up a new gun(like granger's pistol or the shotgun in the o'driskoll camp) you don't lose the one you drop, once you pick up a weapon it's yours, once it's yours you can always retrieve it from your saddle
not important but for fun, if you have your pistol drawn double tap L1 to put it away with some style lol 🤠
and don't buy any guns yet, you'll get most of them through story mode or you'll find out in the world, once you have plenty of money though you can upgrade your guns, and the wraps for the rifles will slow down how quickly they get dirty, buy all the gun belts and bandoliers you can, the extra ammo benefit stacks for each one you OWN not just for the one you wear

The swirls around Arthur in Eagle-eye is his own smell. The longer you go between baths, the stronger the swirls. This in turn will alert animals that you are hunting.

Just found your RDR2 series and I'm digging it. The only card games I know how to play are blackjack, cribbage, baccarat, and spades. Since I'm a native Wild Westerner, I'm currently learning how to play Faro. I also want to learn poker as well as pinochle, the most common card game I grew up watching my family play. Never got to learn it growing up since my dad always shooed me away.
For poker, Texas Hold 'Em (The poker in this game) is the easiest to learn and is very fun both in games and in real life. Texas Hold 'Em is the easiest because you only have to focus on 2 cards in your hands rather than 3 or 5 like the other versions. Once you learn Texas Hold 'Em, you'll never forget how to play.
I was going to say make sure and visit the man and his sons building the house at later intervals in the game. There's another 4 or so more interactions you can have with them. I've never robbed or killed them though, so that's probably a done deal now. Oh well, lol.
The dinosaur bones aren't marked on your map, you have to find them. If you think you might be in the area of one, use eagle eye. A yellow plume will appear over the bone.
You can use your binoculars to study an animal and see if it's 3 star. Using the scope on a rifle will do the same thing, but the binoculars have a better range. The difficulty with hunting at this point of the game is that you don't have all the proper weapons or the money to buy them. You can use the bow, crafting small game and improved arrows to help, but I'm much more of a rifle person myself. And there are tricks to getting better weapons this early, but I'm not sure how much of that kind of help you want.
You need to do the hunting mission with Hosea to unlock the stables and everything horse related, like getting a grooming brush.
Fun playthrough!
Id recommend using L2 to interact with things alot more, and use your tracker in camps and randomly to find more loot,plants and the dinosaur bones! Dont want you to miss anything and it is possible if your not careful

You have to get closer and study the animals to find out what level they are. I think you can use your binoculars to study them too, but it's been awhile since I played. Skinned animals go off quicker so if you're taking it back to camp you'll have to do it quickly or not skin it. I hope that you're having fun, there are plenty of more laughs and surprises to find.
Just started watching this playthrough and in the first five minutes of this episode she comes across the serial killer, wonder if in the later episodes she comes across the rest of the clues and whatnot and comes across the killer.

If you ever see ginseng elixir, guarma rum, or valerian root, make sure to drink it as soon as you pick it up. They increase health, stamina, and dead eye xp.
Plus, you'll want to buy the varmint rifle from the gunsmith. It's for hunting small game like rabbits, skunks, etc. without ruining the pelts.

The trapper is more useful than the butcher. He can craft horse saddles, outfit and weapon equipments.
Strauss and Hosea’s mission will help you everything you needed from this episode.
That robbery tip will be part of a camp side quest. Camp side quests will be shown at a certain time of the day and it’s a missable quest too. Sometimes you need to check back in the camp if there is anything pop up in the map

Definitely to keep the camp happy you should upgrade your camp if you have money on the legder/same place as donation box just beside it.
So you can have your place, and every other thing in the camp be upgraded!
If you lose your hat, you can equip it again while you're on your horse. Just go into your weapon/equipment menu and look for it there. Also, don't be afraid to antagonize fellow gang members and NPC's once in a while. The lines of dialogue in this game are amazing, and Arthur can be downright hilarious when he ribs people!
A neat trick with your animal kills and skins is that you can leave them on your horse and deal them with Pearson/Butcher/Trapper.
For the quickdraw, slowly press r2, then press r1 to place your shot.

@@TheMirandalorian Yes! There are 3 locations to find in total scattered around the map, each location comes with a map to help you unravel the mystery.
Remember, they aren't dead until you see the flash, symbolizing the souls leaving their bodies.
All Arthur's hats and any weapons drop or pick up will always be found on your horse

you should also when exploring make yourself a camp so you get your sleep, and when hunting ofc use that as food you can cook in your little campfire :D if thats not too early in the game i dont remember myself when you get the camp in the wheel thing
So my advice for you is to do more mission... from someone who has beat the game 5 times and has put 750+ hours into the game and still loves it. I promise it will help and teach you without spoiling anything. All I can say is that sometimes you're getting ahead of you're self with his game! But love your first play throw!
So with the bow, there is only one bow. But you can craft specialized arrows, each type for a specific purpose.
You can shoot ropes to get corpses down to loot them or look for clues
And use eagle eye all the time to highlight stuff you can interact with! Helpfull to find bones too

Neglecting his eating and sleeping will drain your core levels faster and lead to poor shooting accuracy. You can also drink tonics for a quick boost of your levels. You can find them in your food/item menu.
The tonics are across the top of the item wheel, and are in the same order as the cores are on your screen to be easy.

When you where chasing the witness you ran out of stamina,you have items in your item wheel that will increase your stamina or try to eat something that raises stamina core , also the game is telling you to press L2 to confront witness
