I love the fact that we get to travel back to South America with you - thanks for documenting your adventures guys :)
So great that you replied, Ben, as I often think about your stories when I watch XO vids. Nothing against the corporate-sponsored mania and obviously thoughtful (if not way over the top) level of preparation of XO, but making it through Columbia earning your way by hauling passengers, eating wherever and whatever you can find by the side of the road, stealth camping by just "parking" someplace super cool, stopping at a school to teach 200 kids how to slackline (not in a staged, contrived way, but obviously just a lovely spontaneous gesture), taking on genuine off-road challenge, buying recycled clothing, bonding with complete strangers you meet by chance (rather than referral), all with a dog by your side in a decrepit but eminently adorable VW bus that you kept running with your own two hands, just has no equal. No crazy high-end gear of any sort, no guides, no film crews, no big money sponsors. Just you and your wits and the love for true overlanding. Not that XO isn't an apex organization in the overlanding world and even the automotive industry at this point. They truly are. But I'll take raw, real, sexy and soulful over polished corporate deliverables any day. Again, no comparison man.
Kombi Life cool ive been following some of your adventures. Who contacted who for joining hands? :)
Really great stuff, but these travellers are check book travellers.
Wonderfull experience but ultimately , very different to what you and i have experienced
Everyone tries to travel within their means and circumstances. Some people set off on several years having nothing, no ties, no families, nothing holding them back, or with some money saved up. At that point you don't particularly have to have the best gear since if you break down or something happens you got plenty of time to resolve your issues and just stick around some place. When people only got 2-4 weeks a year to travel and they want to go through many countries and get the best taste of those countries and also focus on more offroad aspects of the travel through them, then this is where the gear and being prepared (maybe even over the top) comes in play. You got limited time. You can't afford to break down or forget something as this can ruin your whole short experience of what you are trying to do. Time on such trips is the highest priced commodity and even though you are taking chances going into the unknown to you - you can't take chances with your vehicle being not fully prepared for everything or with your gear. So this now becomes the challenge of how do you afford being very prepared for those 2-4 weeks since the gear costs so much and many people can't just throw everything into their vehicles. Well part of it becomes trying to work brands, helping to promote them while off-loading your financial burden going to distant places, porting your vehicles over and such because after that one month you have to return to your family, kids and all that stuff. Yes it is a little different than what Kombi life experienced because the means and constraints are different. I'm for now in the same position as Expedition Overland with some ties to that other life and I'm also trying to be that Check guy to sustain my travel bursts in coming years. But eventually Just like KombiLife I want to set off on a global tour for many years and experience the KombiLife way, but that is only when I'm ready for it. Until then I have to try to sastisfy my short craving bursts for overlanding by the means of promoting people that help me in one way or another. XO guys doing amazing job creating beatiful videos. Wish i had so many cameras and people to film my stuff :)
I just want to ask why are u not doing these HIGH QUALITY EPISODES anymore???
Well, after watching the last two seasons in two days and after about $10k worth of online ordering and my wife putting me in the garage looks like we might be bumping into you guys on your next great adventure
What!!! This was amazing to watch already for Ep.2! Thanks for sharing XO awesome as always, Hope you all are still enjoying the edit of this series.
Amazing cinematography guys! 🙂
Epic trip start....best Video yet. Awesome!!!
you will see that you are in more danger in usa than in south america. You will see how warm is peopple with you. I hope it helps you to change your preset minds. regards.
Finaaaallllyyyyyyyyyyyy! So much anticipation.
Amazing work, waiting ep 2and3.
I am so happy right now
Love what you do. So awesome.
Been waiting for this :)
you and me both, hahah
Ayyy i live in Lubbock Texas
in 6 years i will begin my expedition meanwhile im searching everything I will need to be fully prepared to go in 2025. Do you guys think that a Toyota Land Cruiser Fj45 Troopy will do good? its the best option considering the poor options here in Chile.
Great quality. Well thought out. Clear. Cinematography is spot on. Probably the best quality content on RUclips right now in this genre. A smash hit. Keep it up. 👍
I totally agree
😱😱 you guys aren’t playing around! 47 minutes!! I’ll have to pop up some popcorn and warm up a seat on the couch!
This took me a few days off and on to get through and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Man this was a great adventure. I can NOT WAIT to see the rest of the season. The production quality, writing and story telling is top notch! Man what an adventure!!
Popcorn would have been a good selling day
@@SwellRunner Microwave popcorn has Teflon in it and causes cancer. Thank the govt for protecting the rights of corporations to slowly kill us. Have a good one.
I have my popcorn, and I’m ready.
How has Netflix not picked this up... excellent work as always, Team.
Oh absolutely agree
I think they have misrepresented and make it look really hard what overlanding really is
@@crescentmoon256 I don’t really think so, when being a foreigner overlanding in a place you know nothing about is extremely challenging
If patriot games isn’t. This will never. Justin and his family are amazing lol.
@@dropping_valves1694 a lot of people have done overlanding throughout the world without these many comercial products bagged on to them
some people have done them in thier mini Coopers ffs
What a great opening episode! If you can't get inspired to explore your world from this nothing will motivate you. Way to go X Overland crew! Grateful to be a part of your journey!
CBI Offroad and Bikes thanks CBI!! Thanks for your stellar gear it performed great!
They are back. They are back. They are back.
kmin0605 ... Yeaahhhhh 🤗😊😊😊😊
I just want to say thank you guys. You inspired me last year to forget what I know abd pursue my passion here on RUclips. Killer job on this series!
Thank you!
I have binged watched first two seasons (Alaska and Central America) and am now starting South America. I am captivated by the filming methods, calm narration and beautiful scenery.
We are on the same timeline after watching the Nordic series.
You guys seriously have the best production quality anywhere on RUclips, and beat most professional television production too. Keep up the amazing work. This season is gonna be lit!
amen brother. top notch work here
Owen Yeasting it really is amazing quality videography
absolutely!! I agree
Why is everything .......Mission Critical!! Aren't you just really going on a vacation in your trucks?
Jim Grout exactly what I thought. I didn't consult a navy seal to go to South America... Really strange
lol exactly what I thought! Was probably a bunch of Q-tips and deodorants in there..
Columbia is never "just a vacation" lol ... Its one of the most dangerous places on Earth. XO don't go to tourist areas controlled by the government/military they are going in the sticks so yea, a lot of things become very, very "critical".
Rich people man 😂 I’m from Botswana and we see this all the time. Hey, don’t get me wrong, Columbia is dangerous, but I know people who have hitched through it minus the navy seal. It’s an ego thing, I think.
Because it gives the show some drama and sounds cool. Why the need to be overly critical. It’s just for fun. Enjoy it or go somewhere else on the internet...
Amazing job guys! This looks like it might be the best season yet!!!
Beautiful Man! just beautiful !
Amazing work as expected !! You inspire this entire community !
totally agree. really enjoy the videos these guys put out. looks like some awesome country
Thanks!! That means a lot!
Three deployments, and each one a new season of Expedition Overland comes out. Couldn't ask for a better touch of home, well not so much in this case since they're in South America; however, this...is...AWESOME!
this needs to be syndicated and on tv.
no on Netflix
seriously though. Netflix should really pick this up
I've been waiting all day for this video!!!!
sounds like us. very excited to see more of the series
Loved every minute, great job ladies and gentlemen.
Thanks GooseGear!! oh and Great stuff!
No word or info on the Cahills?? Miss not having Scott or Rhonda around.
r0blashley what is the business? I noticed Rhonda isn't x elles anymore either.
I looked up his business, back in IT/Software called 45 North Solutions. Still would have been nice to see them both in a cameo since they are both EO OG's!
Just watched Hammond, May and Clarkson cross this bridge (33:51) on The Grand Tour. XO did it better!! Knew I recognized it from somewhere!
Oh yeah I remember watch the one they did with the dune buggys
My body is ready !
haha nice
Love the show, but I'm a bit annoyed by the over-exageration about the dangers of travelling in Latin and South America. I've lived 10 out of my 33 years in the US, and the "SKETCH" can be found in the US all over the place, just like everywhere else in the continent.
Wow....just WOW! The production levels have never been higher. The rigs looks amazing. The team is top notch. Been following you guys from your prep-trips for Alaska, and I'm still here with you guys.
Clay, you've put together an amazing company in XO. You have my full respect sir for leaving the daily-grind and chasing after your passions. Just know that you have support here whenever you need it.
Rachelle, you are an incredible wife to Clay with the support you give. Keep chasing your own dreams and reaching this goals.
Jeff, you certainly know how to build seriously capable, safe, and reliable rigs. Love your "Hey There" series and I look forward to continuing to learn more form you.
Ty, glad to see you back sir. Keep everyone safe, as you always have. Thank you for your service!
To the rest of the XO team, keep exploring, keep seeking adventure, and please, keep letting us experience it with you through these series.
"road is super sketch" - That's a normal back road in my country lol.
I have developed a new respect for you guys after watching all of your adventures so far. I really have enjoyed all your trips. Ready for this series/season! Stop in again for dinner/drinks and loud noises. It was fun having you guys here when you stopped in. Kamiah. Clay, you are a great videographer and editor! I hope this is what you do professionally! You are extremely good at it. I have also learned to appreciate your leadership skills. Looking forward to vicariously joining all of you on your further adventures. Wish I could do it with you. Keep up the great work! Safe travels! EPIC ADVENTURE!
so true, these guys take the time to really plan the trip out and follow all the rules of the country they are visiting
Finally it's been like 100 years...not really but it felt that way.
There's no way on earth I would walk on that rickety old train bridge. The one under repair wasn't much better, but that and the mine makes for a spectacular trip.
Awesome to see you guys back out there! Looking forward to seeing the rest of these episodes and what you see and experience!
Great show,... keep it up. As someone who has lived in those countries and similar places, I particularly enjoy the way you euphemistically describe the rampant bribery and corruption.
I've been following you since the beginning and I must say I didn't think the production value could get much higher but man you surprised me yet again! Very well done and I really look forward to the following episodes
this is my first comment ever in youtube, IT WASS AWSOME this episode im sure the other ones gonna be better (im from Dominican Republic and we have the same off road culture, hope one you guys come and live it
Thanks Daniel!!
That was fantastic. This is going to be an amazing season. When does Episode two come out?
Luke Clement- Two weeks from today. Glad you liked it!
Awesome. Looking forward to it.
Skills necessary for overlanding in South America :
Knife fighting - absolutely
Learning Spanish - notsomuch
What a SUPER video
Great job fellas! That was a very entertaining first Episode!
Your videos are amazing!! I love that you were here in Colombia guys. I hope you come back and explore more this amazing country!! :)
Just finished watching Narcos on Netflix, and went straight into this first episode haha! Pretty cool to see Columbia has their own group of adventurists. So glad you guys are back and looking forward to see more of what already looks like the greatest adventure yet!
Wow. Speechless over here & this already surpassed all previous episodes.
You guys came out of the corner swinging with this episode. Shipped your trucks to South America, rolled Cartagena, walked northern jungles, and topped it off with driving inside... a mine? Who gets to do that?
awesome way of discovering such a wonderful country that colombia is
Yes! Finally! Thank u!
guys first of all i want to say congratulations for the great job you guys are doing. great, great content and nice beginning in my home town colombia, hope you guys had a blast there. thank you for your beautiful videos and epic adventures. hopefully ill see you in the trails.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
great quality , that must be very fun to drive ur own car in other place and exploring!
My t4r watched this before I could. #impatient!
13:44 I see a jocko willink shirt.. YES! Get after it!. Discipline equals freedom.
Amazing video, really beautiful, reminds me of my trip to Utah. I don't want to be that guy but...when can we expect the next episode??? :D
This Friday at 18:00 MST!
One word.. Super Zoiks!... Ok that's two, but that's how epic it was! Awesome, can't wait for episode 2. FYI, you guys inspired my family and I to take a 2,200 mile overland expedition this past summer, and have already begun planning the next. Keep the videos coming.
We’ve watched every episode and love each and every second. They just keep getting better! Clay you and your team have really got a world class production here.
this is possibly the best bit of offroading content to have been put out there. Quality content well documented well filmed. My one question is how come no jeeps :P haha those Toyota rigs look incredible :O
So no one's going to call them out for beating the red light at 24:25 ? HAHA
Overall, the production was amazing. Keep it up!
24:28 "it didn't take long until the cops caught up to us" LOL.
great video guys! Come join us in Africa. I've done a few awesome expeditions around Africa, South to North and Back, North to South, South to East to West and Back to South. Next Expedition is on a 4mt super yacht exploring the Remote Islands of the world to help where we can with Power, Schools and Clinics. Love to touch base with you guys!
Is the audio off at times, or is it just me? Love the show either way!
Michael Young try a restart on the video if out of sync.
Thank God I have a chance to watch a expedition video like this!!! I am planning to get a old LC100 4700 in China next year and travel to Tibet with my friend, this video boosts my confidence and determination of traveling!!! Abosoluted one of the best videoes in my 2k18.
Watching this before Stranger Things 2!
i did the same thing too funny!
What an honor!!
Me 3! Fun introductory episode. Can't wait for the nitty gritty!
Amazing, the photography was just outstanding. I couldn’t stop watching once I started. I have followed all your past expeditions, and they just get better and better. I feel like I am got a chance to take a trip and see the real back country all from my own living room. VERY NICE..
ONE WORD ...........AWESOME!
Hey, clay! Can you and your team come to Doha Qatar? We can tour you around Qatar wif you like it. Qatar is a sandy and amazing country. My father and I like to share a trip to the Qatar border. It is a beautiful border. second is the mystery village. And we can do two camps. if you like the plan you could come. If no, my father could change the plan Thank- You.
Awesome. I love Colombia.
Thus far vicariously wife and I enjoying your adventure up north , central america, and now watching south america all on Amazon.. Cant get enough !!! Lets not for get your wife's adventures Clay, coming in 14th in Morocco
I'M SO EXCITED
I have been waiting patiently for this season, finally here. I have been watching since the very first episode and have my 08 Jeep JK outfitted with as much gear as I can afford at this time. Can't wait to take it on an expedition. The only thing I am missing is the trailer, I am looking at a used Military trailer for the start of the project. These Toyota Trucks you are using are amazing. I like Rufio.
Woooo so excited!
Awesome production guys and girls! Like watching a expedition movie. Cant wait for the next one to be released!!!! I think you need to upgrade to 4k... some of the footage would have been ammmmmazing to see in 4k ( like those flowers ;) )
Epic. Outstanding production
I lived in Brazil for 3 years. My dream is to take my Land Rover Discovery II down and drive the Trans-Amazonian Highway. If you ever plan a trip to Brazil, let me know! My Portuguese is not too bad.
Yes!!!!
This is amazing. I can't believe I've missed out on previous episodes! I will go back and watch all of them.
Makes me appreciate my Toyota 4Runner a lot more.
As an overlander I am thrilled for you guys; I am living your adventure as if I was there; as a colombian living in the USA I am proud that you show my country to your audience; have fun and enjoy my beautiful country
FIRST SO EXCITED
Def seen a few holes in bridges like that in the US....not to mention we've had full on collapses here as well as bridge explosions.... And we have a 'D' rating in road infrastructure 😅
Super awesome video, I’ve waited for this a long time but the video and audio are terribly out of sync.
If you love theses guys as much as I do then your going to love Andrew on RUclips channel 4XOverland! Clay great channel!! You have a gift for story telling!
Awesome start to an epic adventure.....my favorite comment has been that if you are part of the overland community you have friends everywhere.....100% agree. My 1996 LX450 has enabled me to meet some of the greatest friends/people and see the US in the last 4 years. I love this community.
You could teach a course on drone cinematography! What drone(s) do you use? How do you deploy and retrieve so quickly? Who is the pilot? I would love to see a "making of" video.
We were about to do the Pan American once the COVID 19 restrictions began lifting in the future but this just showed us how unprepared we currently are. We have no head of security and are currently trying to raise money to find a security detail to go with us. I've enrolled my wife and I into defensive training which is a 2.5 year course after which we will re-assess our travel plans.
Love these videos. Living the dream. Have to say I'm pretty jelly. That building and just the furnishings in it probably cost more than everything I've ever owned in my 32 years of existence lol.
I don't think anything I've ever watched in any video came closer to something I really want to do... Get me a Tacoma TRD Pro and I'm on it!
That familiar music @ 9:28 was very nice to hear. I'm glad I rediscovered your channel! I never unsubbed though? Damn RUclips not telling me about uploads...
I live vicariously through you guys..........maybe someday I'll get to do something like this.
I am so pist I found this, I used to work and spend time with my family, now I just watch this channel and plan out my trips lol.
14,000 miles to south america. I already put 71,000 miles in my tacoma since late 2016 in texas only😱😱
Great episode XO. I'm sure the bureau of tourism in Columbia appreciates XO. LO would like to visit you in Montana when the opportunity permits.
Awesome, just came up on my notifications! I've been waiting for this.......... :-)
5 star review on Amazon Prime. Well deserved!
Hey Clay Croft have you ever read 31 Days in the Darien by Kevin Arnold if not you need to check it out.
Thank you guys for sharing all of your adventures.
thanks clay and crew from mike in melbourne australia great to see you adventure bound again look forward to your next trans cheers to all
@7:15 Anyone know what trail that is here in the US? Looks fantastic. Probably somewhere in southern Utah.
Awesome series! Only one correction.....There's no such thing as a "former" Marine:)
