Hello, great content. Could you also please share and explain in depth about reconciliation for fixed income securities or any other instruments if possible.
Thanks for sharing the video.. ...i am seeking clarification on couple of things if you can please answer....1. who exactly the cp (counterparty) is.....in case abc client sends MT541 to global custodian which has seller and delivering agent bic on their instruction as cp SSIs then does it mean that it is the SSI of broker/custodian of the selling party whose sale trade has been matched with buy instruction of abc in the exchange or it is the SSI of the broker to whom abc instructed the buy order? if it is sellers broker/custodian SSIs then question no 2. from where abc client gets the cp SSI information.....is it from the trade confirmation that exchange sends to the broker of abc which inturn broker sends to client abc
Hi Pratik, Counterparty on a trade depends on how the trade in executed. There are 2 ways - 1. Execution on Exchange 2. Over The Counter Execution In case of Exchange execution, Exchange will be intermediary buyer/seller and hence counterparty information will not be visible in Exchange executed trades, mostly in Exchange executed trades, no Swift messages are sent to custodian as Exchange provides trade execution instructions to the depository. In OTC execution both buyer and seller will have to send their instructions to their local agents via SWIFT messages. SWIFT message contains instructions to local agent to execute the trade as per economic details on the SWIFT with Counterparty BIC and account also mentioned on the same SWIFT. Hope this helps Happy Learning Team Capital Markets Easy

Same day cover is required in risky markets to ensure no risk due to short selling in the market. Penalty and fines in case a seller is unable to deliver on settlement date is quite high. hence seller tries to cover all their sales within same day as Settlement Date to avoid any fines or penalties. Also failing to deliver multiple times on settlement date can get the seller barred from trading in the market. Hope this helps. Happy Learning Team Capital Markets Easy

What is back office here. Is that stock exchange? Please clarify this.
can you please clarify and provide more examples on trade splits , where u have mentioned that smaller quantity of short spreads which can matched on future date and agree for setting larger quanity
Hi Aiyappaa, In some markets depositories provide facility of prioritizing the trades for settlement, which means that you can ask your local agent to prioritise a specific trade to settle before others. For example there's is a trade to settle for a quantity of 200,000 shs and seller only has 195,000 shs then both buyer and seller can agree to split the trade of 200k in 2 shapes of 195k and 5k and ask their agent to prioritize the trade split of 195k. 5k can settle at a later date or time whenever buyer has the remaining 5k. Hope this answers your question Thanks Team Capital Markets Easy
@@capitalmarketseasy thanks for the explanation ,but this would happen only in case of bulk /block deal where the buyer and seller identify is known prior Incase of normal trade window this transaction would be considered as short delivery and penalty of 20% would levied on 5000 qty shares ( specifically in case of Indian markets ... Is it on excel ?
Also you have explained the concepts very well.
Hi Vinayak
Trade prematching is done by back office teams on excel via phone/emails. However there is a system level prematching as well. When Trade Swifts goes out to local custodians they try to match these on the depository with Counterparts SWIFT. If opposite side of trade is found, trade is then matched at depository and local custodian sends back Trade matching confirmation SWIFT and then trade is reflected as matched in system.
