Steph Curry's season last year is one of the all time great seasons. Westbrook's is not. A triple double is an irrelevant achievement. It's rare. Doesn't mean it matters on its own. It's equal to the triple crown in baseball. It should be a trivia stat, not something you hang someone's MVP chances on.

Wow really? This is pretty unbelievable, just make up qualifiers and disqualifiers as you go to push forward or minimize whatever point or agenda you're trying to make. When you take these kinds of stances you can really manipulate any discussion to fit your preconceived conclusion. This is amazing stuff from Colin, you have to salute him on his consistency though. Let's see if he surprises me in the next 5 minutes and changes tune... I doubt it.
You should be amazed by Westbrook because he's leading a team that has nearly as many wins as the raining Champions with no other all stars in the Western conference on top of averaging an Triple-Double.

Defense win games even champions. Rebounding is a key part of defense i.e. Russel plays a key role plus he also gets steal. Triple double: Points = Offense. Assists = Team player. Rebounds = Defense. If the opponents were getting these rebounds instead they'd be out of the playoffs. Russel Westbrook = MVP

More rebounds = more possessions = more shots = more points. Rebounds do matter so if your point guard can get you rebounds it matters.
What more does Westbrook have to do he's double teamed all the time all these other teams have 3 - 4 stars and they need a rest and this dude never rests

A Triple Double doesn't have to be Points Assists Rebounds, but good luck finding some1 to average 10 steals/blocks per game.
The only differences between OKC and HOU are that Harden assists slightly more than Westbrook and passes *way* more while Westbrook shoots more rebounds more and turns the ball over slightly less.
As it turns out a PG who passes and assists more leads to more wins compared to a PG who scores and rebounds more.
And More Wins = More Value.

James Harden deserves the MVP, its only right. 2 years ago Steph won MVP when Harden clearly had the better season but the argument was the Warriors were the better team and Houston was the 2 seed. Now Houston a 3 seed and OKC a 6 seed but because Russ grab 2 more rebounds than Harden and is less efficient he MVP?

The main thing I like about the departure of Durant over Westbrook is that it got Westbrook on a mission to prove himself and that mission was to win MVP without Durant on his team. Yes he's not the most efficient shooter, but the thing I like most about Westbrook more than Harden & James is that he plays his hardest no matter if it's the 1st game of season vs. the last game of season, no matter if he's facing a top-tier team vs. a bottom tier team, and he definitely has the least amount of help compared to Harden & Lebron while being on the verge of averaging a triple-double for a season!
And I'm not a Thunder fan but the Guy is Amazing to watch and something special Definitely a MVP

That's not what i'm saying, i'm saying i can understand that he views Westbrook as a player who sometimes plays reckless and impulsive (which in some situations is great) and some people like Colin rather watch teams that get's it done as a team. No Colin doesn't understand the game of basketball. Rebounds indicate that your team has possession after ANY miss. If your team has more rebounds than the opponent, then your team has more POSSESSIONS meaning chances to score more WHILE limiting the opponents' chances to score. Why is Colin talking basketball? Rebounding is part of the FUNDAMENTALS. Anyone who played for a team knows this and clearly Colin hasn't played enough basketball.

It pisses me off when people like Colin use "efficiency" as the reason harden is better than westbrook. Thats perception, not reality. Harden LEADS the league in turnovers, and his shooting percentage is not much higher than Russ, 44% vs 43% for russ. And people act like he's such a great shooter and russ can't shoot, but 3 pt% is .345 for harden and .336 for russ, less than one full percentage point higher while taking 3 more threes a game than russ. Yet people say RUSS shoots too many threes?
