I pretty sure he's aware of the consequences of riding that way. It's his choice, if he falls and splits his head...you aren't going to feel it, he is. Let him ride. 🖖
@@flyonawall6521I agree with you that it’s John’s choice. It absolutely is. Totally his choice!
BUT, when he has a following of more than 120,000 people on RUclips, there needs to be to a certain level of responsibility. The audience may be comprised of teenage boys who are ever ready to emulate their “RUclips heroes,” if you will, and get into trouble by doing so. So, there exists a very REAL chance that some kid out there is going to fall and split his head simply because he wanted to dress like Cycle Fanatix when he rides.
Therefore, in order to act responsibly, John could do one of two things:
1) lead by example and wear protective gear all the time, or
2) have a verbal and/or written sort of a disclaimer at the beginning of each video stating that he strongly recommends riders wear protective gear all the time regardless of what is seen on the video.
The latter would be somewhat similar to the surgeon general’s warning printed on cigarette packs.
With a large following comes great responsibility.
@@dlmp70 I couldn't disagree with you more. This is John's channel, he isn't obligated to anything, "RUclips Hero" or not. If anyone dislikes his content then...I say, move along. His audience could be made of young audiences but that doesn't make John responsible for their actions or obligated to do anything.
John doesn't have to answer to me or you or anyone. You state "Therefore, in order to act responsibly, John could do one of two things:" Again, John is adult enough to know what he decides to post and what not to post.

- if you've followed his channel he decide a while back that he switched from a half helmet to a full helmet. John is not reckless. Sometimes wear full leather gear in hot weather can cause dehydration while riding and could cause him losing control or make his mind cloudy.

- Oh, I see. Because teenage boys will read it and not do what they want to do?
Sorry but you fail to acknowledge John's personal freedom to ride as he wishes.
If you feel this way then just remember that when you drive:
1) No Radio on
2) No drinks in the car (including water) / food
3) No GPS
4) No talking with passengers in the car
Because all of these are distractions that could cause an accident that may cause you are someone to suffer serious harm or death
Bottom line, his choice.
Who knows? Maybe he will read your comment and implement those things? Stay tuned.
(PS I personally wouldn't ride without full face...but that just me.)

I’m merely saying that John carries a tremendous influence, and with that influence he carries a tremendous responsibility. 120,000 followers is a LARGE audience. Lord knows how many kids there are among those 120,000 subscribers. He has the absolute right to ignore his potential influence on those kids. But ignoring it would not be the behavior of a responsible, influential adult.
On the other hand, there is absolutely no irresponsibility in whatever he does when he is not recording content for RUclips.
But, yes, we can agree to disagree.
