I just finished the Hildabrand EW quests yesterday. I agree, HW was my favorite Hildabrand quest line. Also, 12.5 hours is honestly shorter than it felt at points lol - especially when it starts dragging in the middle of StB.
@@paulavaughn9621 I didn’t enjoy most of it I found it boring and repetitive. My favorite parts were the smaller jokes that felt more clever rather than “hildibrand flies and does a giant pog face for the 20th time”
I really used to hate hildabrand and after finally playing through his quests without skipping cutscenes to give him a fair chance i came to the conclusion that i still hate him BUT godbert is so freakin awesome and hilarious i love him.
When I did the SB trial back in ShB, I queued for like 4 hours. I actually ran out of stuff to do while I waited and just ended up hanging out in 4am Limsa plaza for a while. Important to note that I was DPS queuing after midnight on a weekday on Primal, so you almost certainly will not have it as bad.

I wish we had more quest lines like this and the post moogle quests. I really came to appreciate hilde for taking a lens to the world more than the comedy.
I was starting to appreciate it with the Heavansward quests and then they introduced the stupid stalker. Just let him die a suitably vile death but don't make me sit through treating a serious crime as a joke.
After doing ARR FATE trains for getting achievements few days ago, I'm just realized the NPCs in the post moogle quest were the FATE quests NPCs We definitely need another post moogle quests again, especially they still doing FATE quests chains even until endwalker
SB trial can be done solo with unsync you just need to be a drk and pop salted earth right before you're chained as well as living shadow so that it attacks the chain.
It's worth mentioning the Hildy Trials are all part of the Trial Roullete so u might pull others who have already done it before when you try queue aswell, so it shoudnt be to bad wait time wise in-general
Back when I was waiting for Stormblood to launch, I heard about the hildy quests and decided to give them a shot. Ended up just binging the whole thing and absolutely loved it. Some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see what madness awaits in the relic quest!
I finished hildibrand like a couple months ago after having it on hold for ages (I like to finish content in bulk), and my first time with Kugane Ohashi was like oh, this fights actually for fucking real lol
Thank you for doing this, Happy. I've found the Hildy quests to be somewhere between boring and eyeroll inducing, with a few highlights here and there. They really dragged as I tried to do them. Hell, I did an ARR relic book phase yesterday, which took more time, but felt more engaging most of the time. Still, I can't bring myself to skip everything, so I still find myself chewing through the quests, trying to get done before patch day. I skip a bit, once I feel I know where the story is going. Seeing you actually measure the time taken is much more useful than some of the comments I've seen. Did the last trial unsynced in PF. It was 3 or 4am EST, and still got 4 to join in less than 5 minutes. Killed him before the danger mechanic.
My favorite was Realm Reborn cause with it being long meant I was able to keep playing the quests non-stop which allowed me to be more immersive during my first playthrough and first impression are pretty important as some people may say. (I'm on Trial though, so didn't played Endwalker yet) So at first I liked the idea that there wasn't one during Shadowbringer expansion because I thought that meant Endwalker will be even longer by combining the 2 into one. So I was surprised when I heard it was the shortest of them all, I did heard they are gonna get more quests later but because of how short it is, now I'm starting to doubt it'll be longer than Heavensward and Stormblood. Not saying I enjoy Realm Reborn story more for being the longest of course cause expansion story is also super long so I like expansion story more with better writing, I'm just saying 2 hours aren't long enough for me to get immersive if that make sense which is why I like Hildibrand Quest in particular more in Realm Reborn. Lol XD But oh well, lol XD
You want to drastically increase your odds of clearing anything on the duty finder? Play RDM and res-bot everyone in every party (until you're out of mana that is, you may have to stop attacking at times).
I have a vivid memory (and a screenshot) of trying to Duty Finder Kugane Ohashi during 5.3 or 5.4. I sat in queue, as a tank, for two hours without it popping at all. I hadn’t learned how to do Party Finder yet so I thought it was my only option. I’ve since done that fight about 8 times in the last few days.
I started this quest line last week thinking that it was the red mage quest, and then as I progressed I realized this is the best side quest I've ever played in my life.
I've only been playing FFXIV for about 16 months, but I've got all the Hildibrand series done. Biggest barrier for me was the wait for Kugane Ohashi to pop - it never did for me during ShB! As soon as the EW relics were announced, though, I tried queueing again and it popped within 5 minutes...
Thanks for this! Just started this year, so I'm slowly going through the quests, but now I feel like I need to rush through for the weapons. I'll probably rush for now and then re-watch the cutscenes when I have some spare time.
i was 90 min in the SB trial que, hopefully more people are doing this soon. I burned through most of the quests but the HW quests caught my attention here and there. My total time was about 4.5 hours without doing the 6.15.
@@shiryushini7321 Not the one in SB, the adds for the dps check are too tanky for our current gear to burn through. And they're immune to insta death/Missile from BLU as well, so you either need to queue for it or grab a couple of friends to do it unsync'd with.
@@shiryushini7321 Interesting, I had tried it as BLU first and then RPR and SAM, and I wasn't building echo stacks (probably going into the dps check too quick to die after the timer or something), so I just figured I'd queue for it later and gave up.
2 hours isn't that much considering you'd be spending about that long trying to get through all 3 Ivalice raids for the Shadowbringers Bozja weapon prereqs, between long queue times for alliance raids that a lot of people don't do, them being the most difficult alliance raids in the game (that not a lot of people remember what to do since they aren't played super often), and if you wanted to read all the dialogue there was easily a couple hours worth of just dialogue in the between-raids story bits. If you waited until the very last minute to get this done, and you only have to grind out 2 hours of quests, that's pittance. It takes longer than that to get 450 weekly capped tomes in one day. I really don't get why people are so upset over this.
im bout to start Hildibrand after getting through all of msq finally ..... im excited cause my friends tell me it's a really good side story, but also hella intimidated lolol
I got the other side of the coin when queing DF for the Stormblood trial sadly on an alt, 30 minutes as a healer. It really depends on the time i think, it was early in the day. I was tempted to put up a PF but i decided to wait and see how long it takes.
it'd be really interesting to see the metrics of hildebrand vs other optional content, at least in start/completion. I've always assumed it was probably higher than things like alliance raids, normal raids, and trial series just because there's less things to queue for to complete it. like, which had more people completed before it was announced as a relic requirement? ivalice or hilderbrand?
I would bet Ivalice was completed more often. Hildebrand caters to specific personalities that makes it not for everyone. On the flip side, people who don’t like doing 24-man content dove into Ivalice because of the FFT and FF12 world connections. It’s also the best written 24-man story content that had ties to the MSQ with Doma’s storyline mentioning the regions more than once.
I never saw the point in doing the Hildebrand stuff, it isn't my kind of content. I may be in the minority though, most of my friends seem to have enjoyed it.
I feel like you're vastly underestimating the value of glamour items to most of the player base. I've never met anyone since I started in late heavensward that hasn't done the alliance raids at the very least for the glamour
I just did them again on my alt, started as a level 90, literally skipped every single related quest dialogue, cutscene, everything. Had to do the level 70 trial in pf, since i couldn't solo it, took about 2 hours
I do enjoy the Hildibrand's quest line but I do regret that I skipped all cutscene in HW because I had to do raid. Personally, I'm quite curious why Dev team decide to tie the Relic weapon quest line in Hildibrand's adventure? To encourage players to do Hildy quest? Or just wanna try something.. fun?
do i do this quest and i can get the mandervile weapons? or does this just unlock the mandervile weapon quest? Do i need to do previous relic weapon quest to unlock or get mandervile weapon?
Honestly I think for me the issue is you can clearly tell this content is not meant to be done in one go. It's meant to be done in short bursts as a nice quick break. Otherwise the joke of "oh wow look how far hildibrand's jaw can stretch as we play a funny sound effect" gets really old really quickly. I'm most of the way through the hilidbrand quests and I've been very mixed, mostly bored but some jokes and a few characters I've enjoyed, mostly anything that isnt centered around the man himself, he just makes me want to play the great ace attorney so I can see an actually funny insane detective with herlock sholmes.
Hildebrand is totally worth doing. Anyone making a big deal about it being a bad requirement for the relic weapon just sounds a bit stupid when you break it down. The argument they’re giving is “this completely optional weapon that is barely better at the end of the expansion than the savage weapons and isn’t required for any content shouldn’t be blocked by anything”. The same people that hate hildebrand for being wacky and over the top are also probably gonna hate the weapons even for glam cause they’ll have wacky and over the top if they really are Manderville weapons.
I can't help but imagine people who don't like Hildibrand sounding like Werner Herzog. I'm sure Mister Herzog is a swell guy, but his deadpan, soulless delivery *is* his trademark, and it's the voice I hear when I imagine someone who has no funny bone whatsoever. Of course people have different tastes. I don't think Hildy haters actually have no sense of humor. I just imagine they do, because it's funny. And *mayyyybe* a little true.
I did them as they came up in each expansion because I loved the first one so much. I love these quests. Most people in my FC hate them, but not I. It's just silly enough to keep you in the game and wonder what on earth they will think of for the next one. I can't wait for the next patch now that I've got the raw weapon on two of my jobs, currently working on getting the tomes for the other two while I'm quickly leveling up yet another job. I'm a glutton for punishment.
I skipped through every cutscene and it's not that bad outside of waiting for the StB trial. However, I question whether it's worth rushing through it in the first place though, because if it's an old-style relic that will require endless FATE and Crystal Tower, then I would rather wait for the nerfs than do it ASAP. If on the other hand I can grind it in criterion dungeons then yeah I'll be glad I'm done with Hildibrand.
Rushed from Heavenward (yea it took me years to complete ARR ones) to the start of Stormblood Hildibrand quest and I can't make myself continue doing that anymore....the quest lines are such a drag and a waste of time 😓😓. If not for the next weapon quest, I would have left it there untouched.
I can't believe how many people complained about this. If you were doing all the Hildibrand quests from the beginning what does it matter? (which is like one THE ONE Quest line everyone talks about being fun and that you should do it) Further more this is the least grindy a Relic Weapon has ever been it's almost a reward for playing the game and enjoying it.
I know we're talking about an MMO but 2.25 hours of sitting there, hating every moment of skipping through text and teleporting will probably damage my relationship with the game more than it already has been. I have completed multiple relics and just don't have it in me to get jerked around like this anymore. It's the principle of it, knowing how mind-numbing later steps of the relic will be.
@@elgame6263 I don't think previous relic weapons' appearances were themed around the type of content they came from though, so I'm not sure why they would this time.
I can't believe there are players who mald over how long it takes to do Hildibrand... just so they can spend exponentially more time endlessly grinding repetitive content for more relic weapons.
I've been working on them and it's so frustrating for me. I was starting to come around. I actually enjoyed HW and then Stormblood introduced the stalker. And since he's a quest giverer and not just in cutscenes skipping cutscenes doesn't allow me to avoid the overwhelming rage I feel at seeing something so serious treated as a joke.
Jokes on me; I've always wanted to do this quest line, but I always put it off. So now I'm sitting here on patch day trying to catch up without wanting to skip through it...
I haven’t seen anywhere officially stating you MUST do the quests unless I missed it. I know the weapons are made by Godbert but not saying they are linked to his son.
Haven't seen this much salt in your comment section in a while. People saying like "too long" or "2.5 hours too long" or such nonsense. At least my fries will be flavored for a good long while.
2.5 hours of doing nothing but running around sucks ass. It's cool if you like it, but it doesn't take a genius to understand why people might not like it.
Too long. As soon as they made it a requirement for the sake of it i couldnt care anymore. I skipped a bunch of bozja but arguably a lot less than hildi because it felt like it was all in one piece with abilities I had unlocked at that time without having to downscale
imagine complaining about having to play a game. lol. i did take my time the last couple of months. ironically, though ARR definitely has the back and forth quests, i enjoyed that patch and HW more. it felt like the story just became anything later with Hildibrand barely being a detective. that being said the anime cutscene moments did only get better with time. lol
FFXIV is a big game and people like it for different reasons. If you like running around doing almost nothing for 2.25 hours, that's okay. But other people migh not like it, it's very obvious and you are just being the usual FFXIV boot licker.
Hildibrand quests made me thankful for a plugin called TextAdvanced. I did the Hildebrand quests because I wanted the rewards. I gave it a shot, but decided I had absolutely 0 interest in the story that comes with it and actually grew to resent the game during my time manually skipping once I started. It made an otherwise painful annoyance much more tolerable after I started using that. If you're like me, hopefully this would help you too. It's on another repo outside of Dalamud, but its easy to add other repos.
ive waited a full 30 min as healer without success on the stupid stormblood trial. -.- Its stupid that these quests are now mandatory. I was keeping them for a bad day to cheer me up and have a laugh, now i have no choice but to rush them. Imo the worst thing they have done besides the shitty housing system.
30 mins as a healer? Are you queuing up an hour before daily roulette server time. I recommend trying again after the reset. Probably will instantly pop.
Just a heads-up. I will black list any Hildy skipper I meet. I just don't respect people who skip cutscenes. I can't stand you. We're just too different.
Hi I skipped every hildy cutscene. It isnt funny, imo its terrible. It's a mistake to include a "joke" storyline into a relic that has a mixed response in the playerbase. Feel free to blacklist me. I will love to blacklist you as well with that ungodly attitude you have.
and its 2 hours too much. should have been a seperate story if they wanted to do hildi that didnt require the prev ones instead of forcing us to do what some consider boring story. i understand doing old content like normal raids or 24 man raids to help newer player with queue times but this is just useless as you said there is only 1 trial that actually cant be soloed. tldr complete waste of time if you dont enjoy the story!

Where can i see where i am at in the hildabrand quest?
I tought i was done after doing what seem to be ARR trials. So where can i see what is next???
After ARR Nashu should be in Ishgard near the Aetheryte Plaza. After HW she'll be in Kugane. After that she'll be in Radz-at-Han
look your journal
@@elecrom_9757 THX i will look it up after work tonight. I appreciate that alot! THX! :)
@@Justuas i have nothing in my journal. I finished arr and then nothing.
The reason I didn't follow the Hildebrand questline in arr was the fate never spawned
I know we're talking about an MMO but 2.25 hours of sitting there, hating every moment of skipping through text and teleporting will probably damage my relationship with the game more than it already has been.
I have completed multiple relics and just don't have it in me to get jerked around like this anymore. It's the principle of it, knowing how mind-numbing later steps of the relic will be.
i just hope the weapons looks good
They are probably gonna look very goofy knowing that they come from hildibrand
@@elgame6263 not hildibrand specifically, but Godbert since he's a master artisan
Yes, people like different things, and some people don't like to waste 2.5 hours on something that they don't wanna do :)
Give a like to Happy for making the content that everyone needs with the upcoming patch.
Took me about 2 hours last week, I just skipped everything lol.
They stated this when they announced it
you can unsync the trial now
TLDW so how long did it take?
Then there is my GF... shes been working on it past 2 months.... been telling her she needs to get on it :P
Haven't seen this much salt in your comment section in a while. People saying like "too long" or "2.5 hours too long" or such nonsense. At least my fries will be flavored for a good long while.
2.5 hours of doing nothing but running around sucks ass. It's cool if you like it, but it doesn't take a genius to understand why people might not like it.
if they dont care about hildi why they would care about relics? it doesnt make sense, relics take like a year to be relevant on game anyway...
Too long. As soon as they made it a requirement for the sake of it i couldnt care anymore. I skipped a bunch of bozja but arguably a lot less than hildi because it felt like it was all in one piece with abilities I had unlocked at that time without having to downscale
2,5 Hours is still a bit of time :(
Hilldy quests are so over the to silly they have started to grow on me now i enjoy them.. Not so much at first
Leaving early and down voting because of the ad.
Hildibrand is the only reason I would reinstall and resub to Final Fantasy 14
imagine complaining about having to play a game. lol.
i did take my time the last couple of months. ironically, though ARR definitely has the back and forth quests, i enjoyed that patch and HW more.
it felt like the story just became anything later with Hildibrand barely being a detective. that being said the anime cutscene moments did only get better with time.
It's on another repo outside of Dalamud, but its easy to add other repos.
um, buddy, you dont need a plugin for that. pressing spacebar gives you option for auto advance, and you can set the text speed with tab/shift tab
😮
i beg you, more meme thumbnails!
ive waited a full 30 min as healer without success on the stupid stormblood trial.
I mean stage one of the relic isn't even out yet. You don't need to rush.
As someone with 10 jobs and 40 kids, I just don’t have time for this.
@MrHappy1227 Is there a way to watch your hildibrand adventures?
hey man i think you got something stuck in your teeth :B
One shouldn't skip Hildibrand cutscenes, these are ones of the best aspects of the game. Higher quality than MSQ.
Hildi needs deleting i absolutely hate it
and its 2 hours too much. should have been a seperate story if they wanted to do hildi that didnt require the prev ones instead of forcing us to do what some consider boring story. i understand doing old content like normal raids or 24 man raids to help newer player with queue times but this is just useless as you said there is only 1 trial that actually cant be soloed. tldr complete waste of time if you dont enjoy the story!
