I just made a box for things I do not want to anymore. I put stuff in there and at once I put them for sale on the internet. Most of the time I can combine shipment with doing groceries. Little things I do give away but my experience in my country is that when you give something away for free; people often don’t show up. It is “easier” to not come around to pick up.

We've just purchased our first home. My husband and I are in our 50s and started our minimalism journey a few years before we moved back to Australia 7 years ago with 9 suitcases. We are enjoying decorating slowly and making wise decisions about how we are making our new-to-us house our home.

I’m totally a fan of donating items. Stuff is like new cars: not worth as much after you’ve used it. Where I live there are three or four community charities that raise lots of money from donations, which in turn goes into human and animal community - win win. Consider it “volunteer work!”

I'd suggest that $20 and all the other money from selling items goes into your emergency fund, high yield savings, or retirement fund.
