Today I check out Chase Holfelder's High Note Challenges where he takes a song and keeps raising the key until he can't do it anymore. He's got some pretty crazy high notes I must say. Watch him sing "Chandelier" by Sia, "Into The Unknown" (Frozen 2) by Brendon Urie and Idina Menzel and "Take On Me" by A-ha even HIGHER than they already are. I also give it a go at the end with Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved".

@@Sheamuscz really weak tenor, I like his tone and stuff and he could do pretty cool runs but his range isn't there at all. I'm a tenor and alot of the stuff joel sings is too easy for me. Seeing joel struggle singing "someone you loved" was so weird especially knowing that I use that song to warm up and I often raise the key too. I've only being training for 2 years and Joel has being doing it for longer. It's really weird

From my understanding head voice is kind of like a mix of chest voice and falsetto. It has the power of chest voice and the range of falsetto. I could be wrong though. I'm not a vocal coach and haven't been trained by a vocal coach.
Chest voice is basically the lower part of your voice, coming from deep within your stomach. It is also much stronger. Head voice is higher, and not as strong. It’s hard to do it loud, too. The reason it’s called head voice is not just because it’s high up, but you actually kind of feel it in your head. Still comes from your stomach, of course!
Ikr my grade three music teacher talked about it and I never understood it AT ALL. I just strained myself really hard until I felt something in my head. Turns out that was a rush of blood from straining my entire chest

Joel needs to give himself more credit for his singing ability, he is always putting himself down. I think that he is a great singer also I like that he promotes other talented musicians\singers.
He’s good but I like his old singing style more because the way Joel sings before was more open
He still uses a lot of autotune, so I guess he has potential, but don't know how good he sounds live.

@Noodle Danger roomie is a good singer but not as amazing as alot the fans says he is,and he acknowledges this. he lacks a lot of technique especially with his range. He's a tenor who only uses his chest voice and doesn't really know how to mix or use his head voice. Like c'mon I'm a tenor who's only been training for 2 years and my range goes from a2-e6 and I'm working on my whistle range. Roomie has been singing longer than I have and he's still hasn't progressed past the chest voice(which explains why his chest voice is so freaking strong).
I love how genuinely supportive of other RUclipsrs and creators Joel is.

dunno if i can sing or what but Capaldi's high notes are more like shouting/loud voice when he is not actually shouting. it gives chills to the body. so good.
Interesting that the higher he went the more emotional his performance seemed. Maybe that’s the key to emotional singing, no pun intended.
yk, actually there are tests shown that people (including me) are prone to making puns by accident because when your brain gets on a subject, it uses words that are related just as a default :)

ahahah it's because female and male vocal ranges vary quite a lot and females can usually go higher than males because their vocal cords are shorter and thinner while males have a longer and thicker vocal cord which makes their voice deeper and lower in pitch :)

Actually Lewis is better, anyway Joel sounds awesome and he's really talented, but ofc Lewis has a better voice and technique, I think it's totally normal, Lewis is a singer, famous all over the world.

Chase isn't just a talented singer, he's also amazing at doing transformative covers that really set them apart from the original. Look up his "major to minor" series where he covers popular songs in a minor key. One of my favorites is "All I Want For Christmas" in a minor key, even though I hate Christmas music, Chase kills it.
