The creators of the format pronounced the word as "jif" with a soft "G" /dʒɪf/ as in "gym". Steve Wilhite says that the intended pronunciation deliberately echoes the American peanut butter brand Jif, and CompuServe employees would often say "Choosy developers choose GIF", spoofing this brand's television commercials.

Just to add a piece of helpful advice!! When I first tried this I couldn't figure out how to get the timeline display, and it wasn't mentioned in this video but all you have to do is go to Window (in the top toolbar near View and Help) --> Workspace --> Motion. Then the timeline bar should appear at the bottom

He doesn't know you pronounce the letter G as in Glad or the word "Gift" without the letter T at the end of the word. He doesn't know & or realize it's not pronounced like the letter J. Hi, Mark. Thanks for the great tute on Photoshop Animated GIFS. I have a problem/question:
I note in your example of the 'woman spinning with umbrella' that the animation plays backwards from the order the images are stacked. If you look at your stacked images (top to bottom) she should be spinning counter-clockwise but when the animation plays, she spins clockwise.
I am having that issue with an animation where a graphic frame should move across a page from top to bottom (and that is how the images are numbered and stacked). But, like your example, the frame animates from bottom to top. There are 80 frames in my animation.
Do I really need to re-number all those frames in reverse so the animation will play as designed?
    Thanks!

Hi, worked great, but may I point out one aspect you did not cover? How to invert the layer stack in case your GIF runs backwards like mine did.
Deselect all layers in your layer stack, click the Eye icon, and then drag them to the top of the stack, with each subsequent layer being dragged under the one you just placed, and so on and so forth through the stack until you have them all reversed. You should then be able to click on the top layer, hit the 'Create Frame Animation' button to load your first frame, and then the fly out menu> Make Frames from Layer and so forth. They should play in the correct sequence, thus.

Hi! Is there a small function button, that crops a bit the image, based on the focus? Someone told me there is this trick, for photos that are not done with a tripod, so there is a small camera motion mainly a bit to the right, or a bit to the left, or a bit to high. SO the gif looks...not that good. But is somehow, photoshop could sense this difference, and crop a bit, it think it will solve the problem. But I do not know if there is such a thing...

After loading the stacked layers, I notice that ALL of my animation frames look the same. They all look like the layer that has the EYE icon turned on. So, when I hit the PLAY button, nothing happens because of the EYE icon being highlighed. But, if I turn the EYE icon off on that first layer, then that frame in the animation stack becomes clear. I am REALLY confused here. How do I get my animation frames to behave individually and in sequence as they are supposed to behave? The weird thing is, when I first imported/opened the stacked image layers, and I hit the play button, they worked perfectly, only, they animated backwards. I don't understand what I did wrong. This should be easy. I have made GIFs before that work perfectly. What am I doing wrong THIS time around?

I get an error code 48 when I got to stacked images from scripts. In the past it has allowed me to do so but not it doesn’t.
