Thank you for putting up this video. I started training at 28, and I'm now 30. One of my greatest regrets in life is that I didn't start training 10 years sooner. I want to compete, but there's been a part of me that feels I just started too late. Seeing this is giving me new hope, and renewed my motivation. So again thank you. This video means a lot to me.

Think about this, there's no guarantee in life. You could of started when you were 5 and fell out of love with it at 18 or 28. Or got injured. The only thing that matters is that if there is something you want to do and that you do it. Maybe you don't want to compete maybe you just day dreaming, but find what you want to do and do it. Don't be afraid or think too much of the future or trying to be champion. Unless it is important for you to be the best in the world at something dont let that stop you. --I am mainly talking to myself so I apologize if this comes of overly critical. I am older than you with no training besides some martial arts background, but want to train just to train and make it part of my life.

Age doesn't matter for starting to train for your self-improvement, but it does for competition. And the older you get, the smarter and more carefully you have to train as recovery time increases significantly. Injuries that made you stop training for 2-3 weeks when you're around 20 can take you out of training for 2 months in your 40s.

He's so good at creating that opening, moves in with a jab (or just threatening a straight punch), forcing you to take high guard and then the way he raises his leg to make it seem like a knee teep but instead it's a really solid body teep that forces the air outta anyone. Brilliant! And to think that he's been training for 7 years at the age of 37, damn! Inspiring man!

I had to come back and watch again and comment. His technique of throwing the left hook while simultaneously chambering his right teep/front kick is awesome. I got everyone with this sparring today. It also forces you to put your leg and hip into proper position to fire it out quickly. With or without hip depending on distance. This one works!!! Thanks for sharing as always Jeff!

Some people focus on what they missed out on (years of training). What they should focus on is what they will gain by starting to train - you've nothing to lose.
Also, remember, how long you train is not the only factor determining how good you become. Other factors such as how hard you train, avoiding bad injuries, how smart you train, health, and genetics all play a significant role.
Very few professional fighters are blessed enough to tick all of the above boxes. Those who do are probably among the best in the world.
In addition, if you started late you may have used your time to pursue other things in life that you would have missed out on if you were focused on training. For example, for many years I was a very successful swimmer. If I was doing MMA during this time I would not have had the focus needed to gain the success I did in swimming. So now when I go to the MMA gym, I see guys who have been training longer than me and are better but if they come to the pool/sea/lake/river with me, that's my territory :)

This gives me even more motivation to train more, I started martial arts at 12 starting with taekwondo, but had to stop because of covid. By the summer of 2022. I trained in MMA through RUclips videos. Now that I have found your channel, I can say that martial arts are one of my favourite interests that I have. Being 16 right now makes me glad that I'm young enough to enjoy the time I have training. Your videos helped me get better at effective techniques, make me have better fight iq, better sparring ethics, and overall knowledge. Thank you for putting all of your experience, knowledge and education about the sport of MMA for free!

Boyyyy you young. Train all you can when you’re young. When you get my age, you’ll have a lot of adult responsibilities but don’t ever quit in your training. Take full advantage of your youth to learn as much as you can. Shit, join your school wrestling team. It taught so much how to endure hard training. I’m 23 and “life happened to me” but I won’t look back for regrets any further and just get back to training. I want to be great and i hate being miserable all the time and i just need an outlet. Keep training, young’un.

I spent my early twenties competing in Olympic Weightlifting and doing Crossfit and Powerlifting on the side; and it feels like I LEARNED so much about periodization, nutrition, recovery, mobility and mental resilience.
