Thanks so much for all the information you share with us, Don! It's fantastic. I downloaded your app and I have been playing with it a lot. With the next update, it would be awesome if there will be the chance to edit the order of the POI and name them, so they will appear in the readout in the preferred order. Thanks again, I wish I had found you before, I definitely learned more from you than from the school I signed up with.
I've been having trouble using checklists in the app, because I can't seem to get back to the home page to check the map and things like weather, KP index, Notams, as I'm going through the list. What am I doing wrong? It seems like every time I leave the checklist the information already filled in is lost. How would I go about saving the list as I'm going back and forth?
Hi, I have the DPC app on my phone but would prefer my checklist in hard-copy. Do you have a pdf file available so I can modify as needed then print out and laminate. On bright sunny days it can be difficult to read the screen plus leaving phone active all the time kills the battery. Sorry I'm a 1200 hour VFR pilot here, hard-copy check-lists was how I learnt and continue to do.
You can edit your checklists within the app, then export them via the hamburger menu / data management / export checklist. You can then format them as you please. You can also do this via the Team Data Portal web browser access if you prefer to do this on a PC. More info in the User Guide, downloadable from DronePilotCanada.com
I have recently purchased a new Samsung phone and had all data transferred to new phone. However my flight logs do not show on my new phone but the files got moved. Please give me help
Hi Rick! Easy solution! If you had enabled backups in Drone Pilot Canada on your old phone, just do a Recover from Backup on your new phone (on the hamburger menu under data management. ). If you hadn't enabled backups, no worries...just enable them now, note the 8 character recovery code, and use that on your new phone to do a Recovery . Email me at DonDronesOn@gmail.com if you need further assistance.
Hi Ali! To apply for a drone pilot certificate, you must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. The alternative is to fly a sub250g drone (eg, DJI Mini 2) since you don't need a pilot certificate for these smaller drones.
Hey there! I'm coming to Canada on a study permit, too. You can do what I did: I passed the Transport Canada Basic RPAS exam online, then applied for a SFOC (Special Flight Operations Certificate) under the "Foreign Operator" clause. If you look up "SFOC Application" here on YT, there's a pretty helpful walkthrough of the process there. If all goes well, I'll be up there flying under those special conditions soon. Hope that helps!
There is a difference between checklist and procedures. IMHO Checklist describes list of tasks by answering a question "What?" while Procedure describes process and answers questions "What", "How?", "Who?", "When?" and "Where?". I don't see this functionality in application
Hi Alex! Actually, the Checklist and Procedures functionality in Drone Pilot Canada is incredibly flexible and tailorable: You can customize your material to include whatever you choose. And if you have an elaborate process flowchart, you can store that as a PDF in the General Documents section.
Amazing info. I'll download the app and start working towards my Flt review asap.
Thanks Don.
Enjoy!!
Thank you Don. Great information on checklist and procedures. A good reminder that the portal is available.
Thanks, Dave!

Any discount codes for the app? $60 is a hefty price for a phone app.
It's well worth the price. One time fee. New features. Fast support. Regular map data updates.
@@DonJoyce I understand that but unfortunately I'm on disability from an accident earlier this year. 🤷♂️
Ìs it possible to send to flight reviewer?
Yes, there is an export function on the data management menu.
@@DonJoyce You are a Saint Don but I don't know the name Pius works for you.
