cleaning up the kitchen post 9-5 workday and doing two life admin things I'd been majorly avoiding, so this is the perfect reward to be able to watch while I go about keeping up my productivity! :)
loved this grwm! personally i also got rly into FIRE when i started my whole personal finance binge after college, also happened to be bc i wasnt 100% happy at my first job haha, while i still think i like the idea of retiring early, i really like paula pant's podcast (afford anything) where she refers to it often as "FITE" which is "financial independence, transition early" and thats how i like to think of fire. It's basically the idea of being financially independent enough to transition into another career or alternative path that isnt a typical 9-5 that may also come with potentially lower pay or less job stability but you find more fulfillment and joy out of it, that's also a big goal that im working towards bc i dont think i could ever just not be doing any work, but i'd love to do work that i enjoy and find fulfilling. i also think this is what a lot of ppl think of FIRE (though im sure some ppl are saving up just to retire early and eat canned food and live off the land), most people i've talked to about FIRE talk about wanting to leave specifically their 9-5s and work on something they really enjoy or care about, so what they really mean is FITE and not really FIRE, but the frugality of FI definitely depends on the person, not everyone can be like mr money mustache tho lmao
my side hustle is waitressing. But its really a side hobby/socializing time lol. I get paid 70k at my full time job, and my coworker at my waitressing job was like well why are you here?!!! and I'm like " for fun" lol value isn't just from money and I'm so glad you highlighted that.
@@ThreePinkButtons Ive been doing it for 6 months already on Saturdays. I found a place that gives me a small 5 hour shift. I swear I leave happy, energized, excited for the rest of my day. feels incredibly love stakes compared to my full time job. Its nice to make friends too! Highly recommend!!
Just did my night-time skincare, turned on my fairy lights and sat on the couch to watch ✨️ you do look STUNNING ❤️ I agree about making your life wonderful in the present and having balance! Your channel IS a cozy and fun place to hang out Zoe 💌
🐮 watching this as I do my morning routine, make breakfast, and start work! This is my first month as a full time freelance copywriter, I’m 10 months into my own financial journey, and about to move in with my boyfriend - so needless to say your videos have been EXTREMLEY helpful and perfect timing ♥️♥️
I live in CA, work remote, and I’m about and hour and a half away from the main office in Laguna beach. I listen to your videos while I drive home after office visits. Otherwise I listen to them while I cook dinner 🤍

I love that you talked about splitting finances! Me and my bf don’t split 50/50 and we always gets weird looks/comments but we don’t make the same amount and sometimes one of us works more than the other so we manage finances accordingly
Working on my taxes (I'm Canadian too!), planning my study schedule for the CPA program. I love how your content is so relatable, Zoe! I would definitely listen to your podcast! 🐮
I”m new to your channel and I think you are such a genuine person! If I could visit Canada next year, I really wanna explore some amazing places in Montreal.
I really appreciate what you said about making videos so other people watching can feel normal. I make videos too and I don’t have a super aesthetic background or apartment and I definitely feel out of place because of it on RUclips. But I live in a real apartment and this is my real life, which makes it inherently normal. 🐮🐄
loved to hear your outlook on so many of these topics! Splitting finances with partners is definitely different for everyone. My partner and i have always split things 50/50 completely ( made it much easier when we got one credit card for mutual expenses and just split the total down the middle). I feel like if he earns more than me, its because of the work he put in to get that salary, and vice versa. Most of my friends disagree with how we split it, but I have trouble wrapping my head around why he someone else should pay more than half of their share. Id love to hear you explain more about your perspective and why your system feels fair to you. I know a lot of people feel if the difference is a lot, that changes things too especially for life style ( going out to eat at all, going on nice vacations etc). Also, on the topic of living together. I've commented before that the first year of my partner and i living together was the hardest, but good, thoughtful relationships are also hard because they put a mirror to your own thoughts/ behaviours/patterns lol so hearing you talk about leaving the pan out 5 days made me laugh. I definitely had moments where i would criticize my partner for something and realize I had an equivalent behaviour that was impacting him that I was acting like i didn't lol! It takes an adjustment to change our habits, and patience on our partners ends! So long as were showing effort and open to hearing about it, i think that's more than half the battle! and being kind like you said. :) Other small question lol where do you buy the hair balm?? cant see to find a way to buy it that isn't on their site.
I want to FI/RE at 45 (currently 29), but I don't want to reach FI/RE burnout and miserable with my life so I make sure to have a balance approach to my money. I invest, but still leave room to enjoy my life now.
During the week days I watch you after I finish working and on Sundays usually during/after I do my night routine! I LOVE how you look, so pretty Zoe! 🐄🐄🐄
🐮 such a fun video to have on while wrapping up a workday! You really do inspire me to just start my own channel because I've been talking about to my bf for like 6 months now lol
Watching this while sitting down for dinner (my usual RUclips time). I loved this video! 100% agree with your approach to budgeting for the now versus retirement - you need to enjoy life! I also love the Mile End in Montreal, my partner and I were looking to move there but sadly it's not in the cards for us (at least for the near future).
🐄 well I’m chilling laying down in my cozy bed it’s nighttime and cold in Oregon! You’re doing great adjusting to living together. It takes time I remember totally! Will be married 34 years in June🥰🤗!
I’m still down for the FI/RE movement, but I’m not trying to retire at 30 or something like that. I want to be able to retire if I want to, and be able to pursue lower income jobs if I want. And I’m aiming for more like 45-50 I think! I just hate the idea of putting off retirement and full independence from working until my 60s.
This video was so nice, I could listen to you for several hours ☺️ I am watching a day after my birthday. I took yesterday and today of and started building a lego set I got yesterday. The Great Wave, it’s really cool because it’s basically a lego picture with a frame once you finished building it. Do I sound like a nerd? I guess so 🤓😂 🐄
In general it is advised to keep your rent at 25% of income. So ideally both should pay not more than that. And 25% is different for everyone. Another point to consider is that he owns the place. Like you are paying for HIS investment. Which totally fine, especially when you have solid plans for a life together. But it is something to keep in mind.
I also hate when they're beard clippings around the sink lol. I like splitting things based on income if you have a large income gap but I think it depends on the people involved. In my case one person doesn't make more cause they work more. It depends more on industry and place in their career
My dog is perfect and amazing. However... her 1 thing is that she is a selfish b**** and not nice around other dogs, especially if there are toys involved 😂 she's not aggressive, but she's not nice. LOL. I am currently watching this lovely vlog and working at my full-time job. Love this vid so far 🎉❤
