Ehm.. friendly PPE guy here. Please note most manufacturers recommend using NITRILE gloves as VINYL does not protect properly from most resins. Also use a respirator/halfmask with proper gas filters mostly for organic compounds and def use protective goggles.
I'm not a hobbyist, but I really get enjoyment out of seeing all these crafters and painters love their craft. Keep it up! I hope everyone has joy in what they do! :D
I love how when you say that everything is great and all you keep watching to your right. Like there is someone with a gun pointing at you with a script in the hand. "Don't go off script or the dragon gets it."
5:38 It is great to see someone having so much fun. 9:20 That airbrush looks like it would be great for spraying terrain, with that huge hopper. That is a really marvellous dragon.
Incredible job! Glad to see you had the IBEE working along with Zmudd . Still trying to get mine printing properly. Amazing work on that massive print!
That laugh is what Adam Savage calls "The Mythbusters Moment". It's that point in a project where you're brain goes "This is my job, I'm supposed to do this nonsense! 10-year-old me would be massively jealous."
OMG! What a project! This had been the most EPIC video I've seen in a long time. That dragon came out great, and I can only imagine how much fun painting all the details would be. Thanks for another great video, Luke. -John
That looks so cool, Luke! I'd love to see a video on basing this beasty! I think the northmen from Fireforge would look great being crushed by this monster - it would give a real "town guard under attack" vibe.
You're definitely underselling your paint job. That turned out awesome. If you were to buy some random pre-painted dragon statue somewhere it wouldn't look nearly as good as that.
Smart move printing on the far edge of the printer to test before the final print. That is a huuuge print surface. What an unit! Fantastic video as usual. This would have almost let you print the giant mammoth in one single print
@@Raycheetah I'll be honest, I have no idea. I printed a gargantuan giant which was far larger than my curing station. It was a one off so buying a lamp would have been a false economy, and I don't have all that much room. For a couple of quid, the sunbed shop sorted me out, and I got some orders for Lithophanes from the girls who work there when I explained what I was doing and showed them pics.
Awesome and sweet! I have a MUCH smaller High Elf Dragon that I have had for over 25 years, but have been a little intimidated by its size. This has inspired me to tackle it. Thanks!
Great to see the zMUD resin in use, I'm a convert to it, it's just brilliant stuff, so crisp and detailed, doesn't *stink* like some brands If the printers are half as good, I might look into picking one up
Despite saying you were hesitate with painting it, it turned out excellent. I've never thought of using contrast paints in the airbrush before. Do you thin them at all before using?
This was epic! Love me some big dragons! Id love to print larger stuff, and the layer lines on fdm printers has always thrown me, great to see this alternative.
That sparmax looks good for priming lots of minis quickly I need something like that to save me from buying endless spray paints and being at the whims of the weather.
Been thinking about the timber tech paints but some of the reviews put me off now I've seen them in use they may be worth a pop, just a quick unrelated question could you do a vid on the rust activator, green stuff sell it but larger qauntity bottles are on Amazon which are more expensive but work out cheaper per volume. I only ask as I can't find a video of them being used anywhere
This is so freaking cool! Maybe using an ultrasonic cleaner for printed resin pieces would speed up things for you a bit. I honestly don't know if it would though. This just an idea at the top of my head, but I know that saving time and being efficient is very important to you, so I though I should mention it.
@@Vanye111 they were 499 USD on amazon prime days... I picked mine up from their kickstarter at like 469... theyre nice other than having to use their propietary slicer software.
Very impressive! looks like it needs a tannaning booth to cure it lol, How long was just the painting process? it seemed like the painting was done in no time and it looks awesome! i painted the D&d 3rd ed Colossal red dragon "mini" which is massive, For our wedding cake and it took forever at least 40hr! great video mate
Saw this Sparmax airgun thing. Looked exactly like the Chinese models which I tried and failed within a month. I instead brought the "Sparmax Flyer Single Action Gravity Feed Airbrush" Easier to clean, easy to switch out multiple colours with extra bottles and if you twist the bottle it varies the spray. As you northerners say, It's loov-leh.
I was wondering if you would Please do a video on 3d printers, for a first time user. Which ones are the most user friendly, and offers the best details for HO Scale modeling. All without breaking the bank. Thank you
Hey Luke, I noticed your cure and wash station has a purple solution in it, I was wondering if you are using isopropyl alchohol or something else ? Im currently looking for other options for cleaning 3d printed models becuase isopropyl is a bit expensive at the moment !
love to play age of sigmar in 15mm :) and have been looking at warploque miniatures for a while now lovely figures and a great set of skirmish rules as well
That is pretty epic, although as someone who prints out large terrain pieces on FDM printers, 150 hours actually seems very reasonable for something that size! I recently printed a piece from the Lost Adventures kickstarter which took 192 hours of print time. And its not as big as that dragon!
Just out of curiosity why does it take so long? I'm using photon mono myself and while it can't print out absolutely massive things ''which is fine because at least whatever it prints fits in wash and cure machine'' the absolute biggest thing you can reasonably even fit on the print bed still prints in like 7 hours max. Like I've printed out raven twin minis Dread Saurian and a massive scenic base with that machine and it only took like 70 hours. I had to cut the body into 4 parts though, mind you but still,it was pretty fast. I checked and the IBEE uses a mono screen as well so that's not the thing. Does the resin just take so much longer to work or?
@@GeekGamingScenics Ah okay yeah that makes sense, thanks for the answer! Also when I said the body I meant just the main body, the whole thing was about 12 print beds in total, most of which didn't take anywhere near as long to print as quarters of the main body since those were thick as all hell.
"It don't fit" Dude this turned out awesome, the whole project looks so fun :-)
I can't agree more. I need to print this.
I think that this dragon would make a great Game-fishing size of lure; for, like blue fin, or something of that scale.
heh, that's what she said?
"I dont even know why I'm laughing"
Luke, you are high on toxic fumes, put your damn respirator on XD
Awesome video, mate! You've done an excellent job printing off that absolute beast, I didn't even realize how big it was until watching!
Still can’t get over how big it is. Great video dude, I do love the red colour
Alright, now you gotta stick that on the front hood of your car. Awesome paint job BTW!

Love it. The print quality is ballin'. And that print timelapse is doing unnatural things to me. Love love love!
Awesome paint job on that Luke. I wanna do this now!
What an absolute monster mini! Great video as always.
