    So here is my way of looking at Ni vs Ne, and it's pretty simple.
    Ne: Starts with one idea or guess and begins coming up with seemingly infinite guesses from there.
    Ni: Starts off looking at all of the data it can pull in and narrows it down to fewer and fewer guesses, eventually settling on one that seems more likely than the others to us given what data we have.
    To say that Ni always narrows everything down to one guess seems a bit narrow minded. We prefer to gather everything we can first, hence Se being on an axis with Ni. Then we will go ahead and narrow it down as much as possible. Ne users do not want to narrow it down usually, they want to keep expanding it at all possible. That's just my 2 cents on it anyway.

Knowing functions is VERY helpful because I’m Ni dominant and much more inclined (in shopping anyway) to be like “screw it if I’m missing something else, I had this specific thing in mind and I’ve found it/didn’t find let’s leave.” I can’t imagine deriving pleasure from having MORE options in this context, lol.

      Ne - all the cars
      Ni - THE car
      Se - all the car parts
      Si - this car part fits here...
      Ne doesn't have a preferance or personal favourite, but loves to have several options for any given situation.
      Ni is total glasscannon, only one model that should solve and "just work" in any given problem or situation
      Take mbti for example, even if mbti would be the optimal system that explains everything, Ne would get doubtful and bored, searching for different paths to explain the same psychological behaviours in other ideas or theories

      @timo4258 4 года назад +31

      I feel like it's a scale, not absolutes. Like Ni dom would still use some Ne, especially at start, he would just make up his mind rather quickly. Meanwhile a heavy Ne would take ages to pick an option, but eventually would pick one option and resort to Ni. I'm actually quite confident of this realisation right now..

    • @timo4258
      @timo4258 4 года назад +20

      For example I was buying a TV table, as a Ne secondary I had dozens of tabs open and took a couple hours of deciding to pick one option. But eventually I was so certain of my choice that I just ordered this specific table and imagined that if somehow the order wouldn't go through and they told me no, I can't order that one, it would be exhausting for me to go back choosing other tables, because after a lot of searching this was my clear favourite. So after exhausting my Ne, which took a few hours, I finally resorted to Ni. This is such a huge revelation. Its exactly the same logic as social introversion or extraversion, even introverts get exhausted of being alone after a while, even if it can take weeks of being alone like in my case, and can briefly resort to a more extroverted behaviour.

      Also, you could be a personality type and it is just not functioning in a "standard" manner. For instance, your functional stack as listed above doesn't show a clear link to a personality type which leads me to believe that, whatever type you are, it isn't functioning in the order presented (Objective Personality RUclips channel has a lot more information about the Blast, Sleep, Play and Consume model for MBTI cognitive functions).
      Usually you aren't annoyed by your top function though. You just may not think about it. From reading your comments, you seem super clear on what you like and don't like, which is often an Fi behavior. Also, it's pretty high in your cognitive function stack. I would say the big flaw of the Ne is also that since they don't dive deep into an idea, they always stay at a surface level regarding the multiplicity of ideas they have and thus, they can struggle to develop the full potential of the ideas they guessed and even miss the benefit of it. Similar with Ti/Te. That can also be a big problem in studies or to improve your knowledge on topics. That should be addressed in the video cause it has consequences.

    • @svtcarat6386
      @svtcarat6386 Год назад

      Ne does dive deep into an idea IF it is linked with an introverted function in the first 2 stacks, e.g Introverted Feeling or Introverted Thinking, because it's able to look at those ideas and navigate through its good or bads, or advantages and disadvantages. So you can't really talk about Ne alone as a function unless you pair it with something and then it's definitely gonna come in handy especially during a tough situation where someone just can't find hope in anything, Ne is beneficial to consider that many possibilities can be considered, and eventually picking something that is for your own or in general benefit using one of the two (Ti or Fi). Ni or people who use it, can navigate sure but it will get stuck up often and not be able to move on from something bad and will even be stubborn and think they are right and that there's no way out, realistically.

       @svtcarat6386 Thanks for bringing some precisions but I was talking about the Ne function alone, not coupled with an introverted function. Of course, an individual with the Ne function in the first 2 stacks can dive deep since it is necessary to function properly as an individual. But it will come from the Introverted Feeling or the Introverted Thinking, not the Ne itself. Thus it will be able to look at those ideas and navigate through their good or bad, or advantages and disadvantages on the Feeling or Thinking aspect respectively, not on the intuition itself which is what Ni does with statistics and predictions. Talking about Ne alone as a function was the point of the comment, as it's done in the video cause we need to in order to define it. That's true except it can become a struggle when Ne will consider many possibilities without exploring them in their entirety first and foremost and will miss the full potential to prioritize something else that might not be as beneficial. In the same way, Ni people can not stay stuck up and move on if it is linked with an extraverted function in their first 2 stacks, Extraverted Feeling or Extraverted Thinking, because it's able to overlook those ideas and the bad if they're not worth it. Ni or people who use it will be *obstinate when they see the full potential of an idea others who stay on a more surface level can't get and why this is realistically the more profitable way to pursue even if others exist. Ni is beneficial to consider that some possibilities are better than others, and eventually find the best one(s) for your own or in general benefit by using either Fe or Te.

As there’s a few Si doms I know who get easily frustrated talking to me as I don’t value the organization of facts as they do, by either dismissing the relevance of certain facts they bring up or how I bring up a pattern with unorganized facts.

    As an INTP using Ne, every fact or theory I learn, however convincing it may sound, is first put through a heavy process of scepsis where I try to disprove and play with what I've just took in.
    Facts itself may be objectively true, but when their used to prove a pattern I often see flaws cause not enough things where taken into consideration. But then again it makes it harder to explain said flaws because theres just so many connecting things. (Is it even fully possible?)
    As a footnote, I think knowing the absolute truth is not really possible, even if you always look at a bigger number of facts and viewpoints. There's just always something missing, but there's no reason for not trying at least.

      exactly. When I learn a new theory i need to find its bounds: where it connects with other things and where it breaks down. and no “fact” is ever necessarily a fact-if it came from a study, how was it executed? is there something else that isn’t being taken into consideration that could be causing this? Why doesn’t this other related theory make this new one trivial? What’s the difference? How do they work together? etc etc.
      also, your footnote is exactly how i look at life.

      You sound like the real deal. I see Ne in the same light. There may be something that I would prefer to look at in a certain way, but I never think that I'm totally right. I don't even want to be right per say, I just don't want to go along with something just because some unconscious judgment of mine prefers it that way. If I'm moving towards a truth that is self-evident and consistent and fool-proof, well, that's all I want I think. People tend to be so hard and fast about a person's type, it ticks me off. Sometimes I think "If I do try to finally do a chore for my parents today, it will come up when I'm talking type with people on discord. They will use the fact that I did something physical to justify typing me as a sensor. I almost call myself a conservative, so there I'm an SJ. I seemed pissed with them so they conclude I'm an ISTJ, or ISTP". Look, I don't trust any one source as being the complete answer for a person's type. After allowing others to type me multiple times, I've decided that people are generally just better off just typing themselves and taking that process slowly. Honestly, I think I would make a good typist though. My goal is for the other person to see what I'm seeing. If they don't see it, I will never give up on trying to get them to see it, and I won't be too pushy about it either. If they don't believe it, then it does them no good.
      The funny thing to me, the stupid thing, is that anyone can be conservative. Anyone can eventually do physical chores, especially if they have to in order to not piss their parents off too bad. What they should wonder is why someone is motivated to do something? I live in a very Democrat-voting area and most of the people I interreacted with at school were Democrats. I had a close family member that was Republican, an ISFP, and no close one's that were Democrats. Essentially, I went with the person I was closer to and argued all the time with the Democrats at school. It's not that I think they're wrong per se. I can create a good argument for their side. Ultimately, my vote is more of a cultural FU. If I lived in an area where most of the people were bleeding hart Republican-loyalists, I would get sick of it and become more moderate. For fucks sake, I actually voted for Sanders in the 2016 primaries and never bothered to unregister as a Democrat.
      Anyways, I made a video about why I thought that I was ENTP. I made it just to do something and didn't take it too seriously. It was just a thought process. Someone commented that I clearly wasn't an ENTP because they "just know themselves" and "are never conservative". Something like that. Such BS. The first reason sounds like Fi, not Fi trickster, never conservative? Never in any circumstance more conservative than the people around them? LMAO. I read shit, I try to get better. I take time, I love helping people, just telling them how to start probing for their type. Then there's people like that guy who just jump in and say he knows "our kind" and that I'm not one of them? LMAO. It doesn't change my opinion much since I already thought that 90% of "ENTPs" are ENFPs, ESTJs, ESTPs, and other mistypes.

    Ni- Mental Thought Pounding.
    Te- Let's Get this shit straight.
    Fi- My personal Morales.
    Se- Sensory Present Reality.
    I think if INTJs just train thier sensors and push themselves to get comfortable around it, they'll become total beasts and nearly nobody will be able to compete with them because of these powerful placement of these function stack...
    And I say to INTJs that start to look all the functions as a whole like in this way
    - Ni Te

Keeping things 'up in the air' is also very annoying to me, as I prefer to choose a single option immediately and don't like wasting time debating or picturing alternative options. However, I'm not the most organized thinker, I can come off as lazy (which I'm actually not, I just find doing certain things useless, I tend to use lots of energy on the things I'm interested in), and am a procrastinator (since I have more important things to deal with, I'm not the best at time management). This is the best video on the difference between Ne and Ni.

  • @nravaei
    @nravaei Год назад +1

    I've been trying to really grasp the difference between these two for a while (myself being an Ne user) and just had an epiphany that I think explains it in a way that feels concrete and experiential for me vs. abstract.
    Both Ne and Ni want to understand the generalized rules or "concepts" behind things. They want to understand how the specific thing they're perceiving (event, object, information etc.) fits into the larger scheme of the world. What is it an "instance" of? For both Ne and Ni, things are only meaningful when they're "an instance" of a particular pattern or framework. When they exemplify a particular concept. I never resonated with the description of intuition as "pattern recognition", because my own Ne never felt that way to me - I never felt like I was going out "looking for a bunch of patterns", and if you asked me to tell you about some patterns I saw in the world, I couldn't tell you anything. But if I reframe "recognizing patterns" to mean that every time I come across something, I try to understand "what concept it's an instance of" (i.e. where it fits in my framework of the world), then that makes perfect sense, and it's something I feel myself doing all the time.
    Now, both Ne and Ni are trying to understand what concepts the things they're seeing and experiencing are "instances of". The difference is where they focus their attention.
    For an Ni, they focus on the concept and hold that as their constant. So they're looking for many "instances" of one concept. Information is meaningful to then when it can be applied to that one concept, which they often hold as a universal truth. So the way they use "pattern recognition" is by finding as many instances of their one concept, and using those instances as data points to refine their concept.
    Ne's, on the other hand, focus on the "thing", and hold that as their constant. So instead of trying see how many "instances" fit into one concept, they're trying to see how many concepts fit into this one instance. They want to know how many different angles they can take to look at something, and what they can learn about what this instance "means" from each of those angles. So they use "pattern recognition" by finding as many concepts for their one thing, and using those concepts to highlight and illuminate different aspects of that thing.
    So to conclude, Ne and Ni are both applying generalized concepts to the things they perceive in order to understand them. But Ne's just care about the thing that's right in front of them, and want to understand that thing as thoroughly as possible by applying different lenses to it (which gives them a strong structural understanding of things, for those of you who are familiar with socionics), while Ni's care about understanding some deeper truth about the nature of the universe, and use the things they see or experience as tools to refine that truth or vision.

    I think context matters in this situation. I believe I have been focusing on my Si recently, and it really helped me narrow down options and figure out which path is the best out of all the ones I’ve thought about.
    My thinking seems more Ni when it comes to taking care of my body like hygiene related stuff, food or figuring out the best workout for me at the time. I used to not care much about taking care of myself, and sometimes I still find it a bit tedious so I would rather just have one thing to fall back on. I’m not rigid about it if something else comes along and convinces me that there’s a better solution, but I’m also not actively looking for a different solution.
    If it’s something I care more about like stories and/or challenging my beliefs about the world, then by all means I’m open to anything.
    Not sure if that made sense, but if someone uses Ne a lot, I don’t think it’s only all about gathering information. If we want to function in this society, it’s important to still make a decision and have certain habits that’ll help fuel our minds to create more (like eating healthy food, sleeping at least 6 hours or working out).

    Alright fellow typing enthusiasts, type me.
    1. I look at all the different patterns
    2. I look for which one is most backed up by facts hence most practical
    3. I try to fit this new pattern into my preexisting giant spider web I use to navigate in life
    4. When new and better information comes I update my previous pattern so I always have the best.
    What am I? I have so much trouble determining whether I'm an INTJ or INTP. I think I use Ni-Fi(INTJ) but people say I'm too agreeable to be one. My argument for that is why would I argue with you if I see the good point in yours? I don't need to win an argument to boost my ego, I want to grow and learn, that's it. Also, I don't care how you make certain decisions, therefore, I'm not going to try to convince you to do it my way simply because it's not affecting me, but when the sh*t is concerning me then hell yeah I'll stand up for myself. I'm super open to new things and willing to hear other people's perspective for the purpose of understanding in order to empathize because I don't have that naturally.
    I love Ne, I love to discuss ideas and look at other people's viewpoints but I don't value all patterns equally, at least not for myself, other people, I don't care. I feel like I use all 4 (Ne, Ni, Te, Ti) because I play the devil's advocate when I need to but I know that sh*t doesn't work, only one works best for me. Because the author's way to present information is not compatible to my way of receiving information. I'd rather look at live examples of what it all means. I must be a sensor because this is sooo abstract! I am lost.

    I am an INTP but I think that Ti is my demon? my intuition is rlly good and when I answer questions my intuition tells me the right answer but then my thinking comes. I literally just start thinking about the possibilities how my intuition could be wrong and I rather choose an answer from my „logic“ and yep I get it always wrong but when I do listen to my intuition I always get it right? its like those „are you intuitive videos“ there could be three balls and I have to choose which one theyre gonna pick so my intuition is like „pick the middle“ but my thinking say „dont pick the middle cuz yk its the middle“ and I listen to my thinking so I get it wrong

    I guess because I keep guessing and even second guessing my guesses depending on if a better guess comes along then I'm pretty sure this ENFP has savior Ne. Please don't make me narrow my choices. It can make me uncomfortable. But. As we have talked about before, narrowing in on a career, a relationship, is where the secret sauce to success is. Love me some (lots!) of possibilities, but I actually picked a career once and it worked out nicely. In the process of narrowing in on another. But yeah. My Ne and Te like to work together to keep my head in the world of possibilities and I actually love it. At least my Te likes to try a bunch of stuff to see how it works out :-) Thanx as always Super Dave!

    I'm kinda looking at it from a uni assignment or work project perspective, whee you HAVE to pick an idea and work with it. You have to decide and plan on ONE and research and write a report with facts to back it up. I think that's probably why I hated uni assignments. They give you 6months or even 2 weeks to decide on ONE.
    I think my opinion is, there are many ways to skin a cat and some are equally valid, some more efficient than others. So i'd go for the easiest, most efficient one. As long as it works at the end, doesn't matter. It can be upgraded later, improved on, but that's gonna cost time and money. Do I Sound Ne?

    No INTJ is going have any value for what's superficial. Why? Because they can see through the details and understand what's going. They read between the lines. They skim data to find the nugget they need. Or they observe Se, the process, to understand how it works. What makes an intj the jack of all trades? They watch to understand, they don't have to "do" to understand. Si people have to repeat processes to learn them. Ni people can watch anything and know how it works.

    Hello can someone define this rant I had before regarding creativity and whether I have ni or ne?
    How do I fix my imagination. I'm supposedly right brain..yet I have zero imagination, I can't visualize anything until I see it first please help. I've been told all my life I have creative ideas and am really creative in general but I'm not, I can't come up with anything. I just take from others.
    For instance, this book I'm writing only came into my head after I watched lord of the flies, its the same concept. The many youtube channels I made, one was made after I got into watching youtube gaming videos, its based on gaming, the next is spiritual because I watched spiritual videos, the next is animating because I watched animating videos, and the next one is singing because I watched singing videos. I just get all my ideas from others.
    My political opinions change to fit my familys. My religious views are the same. I'm spiritual around my mum, but around my brother I'm athiest. I have no idea what I truly believe with anything ever.
    I do have opinions sometimes but they are litterally taken from my family, so I argue their opinions online with people... and get into several arguements so Ig I shouldn't have any opinion at all.
    I come up with one idea and just go with it. Its not that I am an underthinker, its that I think too much but its not in the good way. Rn I am just saying my thoughts blindly outloud but you have to understand that this side of me where I'm really impulsive and say whatever comes to mind is a lot better than the side of me that spends hours just spiralling on one thought and just can't move on, and then when I do move on, I just overthink something else than something else and then I'm spiralling again and in some kind of identity crisis so yeah I would rather just say something and then not think about it because thinking hurts so much and I'm sick of thinking because I just overthink everything and I don't want to anymore.
    And maybe that overthinking downward spiral is why I can't come up with any ideas because I'm too busy being anxious? Or maybe I do come up with multiple ideas but the thing is I can't figure out what to do and what to think because too many ideas and which one is the right one? which one will not get me into conflict.
    Which ones the smart idea. Wheres the idea that will be worth thinking about. Because usually my thoughts are not worse thinking about, because I just overthink stupid things so what am I supposed to actually waste my time thinking about, what is the right way to think vs wrong. Who am I. Define creativity.
    How do I know if I'm supposed to be overthinking a certain idea or if its just my anxiety? How many times am I going to search up "How to be creative" "how to get multiple ideas" When I still have the capability to come up with random shit in my head. But it seems like I overthink them to death so its better I don't think too much. But when I don't think at all, I just say whatever comes into my head usually just to make others laugh or see if they will think I'm smart now. But it gets me into trouble sometimes and I'm called impulsive for it and I hate it. So yeah help I don't get this.
    And I'm not going to proof read this because its just going to lead to me overthinking whether I should rewrite everything and change my entire opinion and worry you'll hate me forever or just send it how it is. Just sending how it is will get me in trouble for being impulsive but I really can't think about this right now because I'm sick of thinking.
    And btw why even come up with creative and cool ideas when other people are so much better at it than me? Why even come up with them when I'm just going to disagree with them the next day. Or obsess about them for days only to completely drop them out of nowhere. Thinking every idea possible ever leads e to having a moral bloody crisis.

    What would be the main difference between Ne and feminine Ni, though?...

    • @KevinPaterson
      @KevinPaterson 6 лет назад +1

      ibanezmonsterg
      The feminine charge on the N simply means the guesses are movable.
      Whether your guesses are moving around among the new guesses coming in from the outside world (f-Ne), or whether the guesses are moving around your known box of narrowed-in guesses (f-Ni).
      Upon first glance at someone’s behaviour they could look the same, as soon as they go flaky on their guess/concept, you’ve got evidence for f-N, but only by further observing their behaviour over time, will you grasp either their known box of limited guesses they keep returning to (updating and refining slowly), or their need to constantly replace old concepts with new ones (updating and refining on the fly).

    It's the Sensor dominant types who want you to believe that Ne/Ni is "just guessing". Then, we live your lives in doubt, always relying on concrete data or facts...that are usually outdated , btw.
