I live in an apartment that has no laundry. I purchased a Haier portable washer a little over a year ago. Target had them on sale, and I also used a gift card, so my final cost was around $230.00---a great deal. But most important is, I love, love LOVE it!! It sits right to the left of my sink, out of the way so I never have to move it: I just pull the hose across the counter. I cover it with a round tablecloth when not in use. The absolute best is when I hang my bedding and clothes out to dry outside on my carousel rack; they smell so fresh. Best investment I ever made.
@@DaBonaFideTruth The increase is not much. I was paying $20 a week to wash my laundry as a single person. My electric bill went up $5-$6 a month. The same with the water bill. That's a big savings.
Thank you so much for your video!! I find your verbiage very articulate, clear and informative. I look forward to possibly getting a Haier. It’s brilliant that you read the model number more than once. Super helpful. All the best to you! 😀🙏❤️
Very cool. When I lived on the east coast and could barely afford my utilities, I would allow the dry to vent into the house, by placing a piece of old pantyhose loosely over the end of the metal hose and secured it with a rubber band. After the load dries, I would dispose of any lint and replace. It warmed the tiny trailer I lived in without making a mess.
Wow u made an old memory come back with that idea. My mom used to use a single leg nylon( half of panty hose) as a secondary filter on her dryer. Lol. When the leg filled up she threw it away. Never thought much of it til now when I read your comment. Now I know why she did.
You and you partner really have thought things out! You did your homework and improvised when needed in very practical ways. Thank you for a good instructional video.
FYI... dryers that vent up will collect lent in the house quickly as it dries, so clean your hose and where it collect to the dryer often. If those is lower, say on the floor out the door, you'll have less lent collection issues. Life experiences Iearned passing on knowledge. Both units look nice, enjoy.
JC penny has both the washer and dryer on sale came up to $400 dollars for both. Online only. This review helped me with my decision to buy these. Thanks for such a detail review.
Brigitte Cedeno I was curious about the price, thank you for sharing. I hope I can get them both for $400 now. I'd anticipated that it would be more expensive.
Great video very informative my wife just bought one two hours ago if she's had a load in there for about 20 minutes and they're not getting dry because of you I realized it takes 60 Minutes to 90 minutes to dry thanks so much keep up the good work
Fantastic video! Your style is so calm and informative, and I really enjoyed seeing your setup. I didn't even know these things existed until a few days ago, and my mind is officially blown! No household chore is more irritating than having to plan when to go to the laundromat, so this is basically magic! Cheers! Stella
I have always simply used one leg of a ladies sheer stocking held in place with a band to catch the lint. Easy to change. Lasts a long time. No need to vent. An engineer told me about this. Venting is awkward inside an apartment. What a good hack!
HAve to say . Your review was by far , complete , informative description of not only the specifics to the units but your own exoeriences and thoughts about your purchases and use . I have had a washer /spinner for about 8 months & love it. But, I have wanted to go with this type set up next time. Thank you for posting. The dryer won't work for me as no way to vent it. Windows are painted shut being old apartments. At least I know now what needs done!! Thanks again!
A nice informative video. A couple suggestions. Install separate connections to the plumbing under the sink in either the kitchen or bathroom. Not a large expense considering the convenience. I almost cried having to leave it behind, anyway I am looking for another one. I really like your review, thank you. I am VERY interested in this set. Again very good review & thank you.
Great review. It’s not as convenient to have compared to a full size set, but you live in a 1br, no hook ups, and it gets the job done so nicely, it’s wonderful! Brilliant!
My RCA washer from Amazon is fantastic!!! It’s just my dryer that doesn’t have a lot of reviews and the manual is confusing. I have reached out to customer support email, and I hope they help resolve my heating issue ASAP
Excellent video with great tips on how to fit it in a small apartment. I love how you guys have tweaked it around the curves. I think I feel more comfortable about pursuing a W/D less apartment now.
There great little washers the one I had wasn't electronic controls like that it was knobs but anyway you need to get a lint trap over the water discharge water or your drain lines will get clogged up and the dryer works great with less then a load and put a dry towel in it when you start drying and the dry towel heats up and the cloths dry in half the time
Great video! I like how you thoroughly explained both appliances in fine detail :). If I ever get a studio with no washer/dryer connectors, I’m def considering this.
This is a modified copy of DAEWOO washing machine with air bubble. I own one and is working flawless for over 12 years. The command panel is almost identical. I think this is a licensed machine from Korean Daewoo washing machine. A fine quality one.
I have been looking at a few models of compact washers and dryers and I have to say these are the ones I'm going to buy thankyou for such a great video
I'm in the process of during research on buying a portable washer for my apt .... you went step by step , great explanations at a100....... thank you , HAIER should compensate you because you just sold one of their washer/dryer ,..... getting one tomorrow
Thank you for doing this review! I have the washer, and was looking for the matching washer. You can also fill it from the shower head spout if you have a set up with the water (hot/cold) on separate nozzles so that you can control water pressure (so the washer doesn't stop and ring an error).
I have had the same Haier washer and dryer for three years. The washer just broke--I believe it's the pump that broke actually. The washer was annoying because it would twist up the clothes and damage them. Some delicate things were better to wash by hand. Other than that it was fine. It washes TINY loads. The dryer is VERY slow and can take only about three towels at a time. for regular clothes (not towels) it can hanldle about 1/3 of a regular size dryer load. It generates heat similar to blow dryer using your 120 V. It takes 2 to 4 hours to dry a load. Which is fine for one person like me. I had a regular washer and dryer my whole life, so this was hard to get used to. But--I was NOT goig to go to the laundrymat. So, I am happy with both. I will replace or repair the washer. This is probably the BEST alternative to no hookup washer and dryer you can get. Don't expect them to last a long as a big washer and dryer though.
I have an older model of that washer. I used it in my 26' travel trailer that I lived in for 2 years. It worked great. I am now in a small house that has a washer and dryer so it sits unused in a small space in my kitchen. A lot of times I will hang my clothes to dry inside near a heater instead of using a dryer.
Informative video. I like your clever solutions for properly washing and drying laundry. Looks like a very convenient setup to have! Properly venting a dryer in a small space is crucial! Don't want all that moisture from the dryer spewing back into the home. Happy washing!
This video was very very helpful. I don't think you left anything out! Such a detailed video I don't think I need to watch another video or do any more research. Thank you!
I own my own home and it’s just me living here and this would be absolutely amazing I thought about getting a normal size washer and dryer but I don’t need it this would be perfect thank you so much for your video
I have almost the same washer, different brand. I think its a perfect size for a family of three. Takes up litttle space and cleans just as well as my front load full size washer did. I wish I’d seen you channel before I night my dryer. Mine is Panda brand and has a glass window. I like your models settings better. Mine has high low heat and just a turn knob for time. My biggest surprise is that it drys almost as well as a full size dryer! Maybe 15 extra minutes. I’m so pleased with my dryer though that it really makes me skeptical of reviews on Amazon.
1. Make a bucket with a hole through the lid to put your dryer hose in. 2. Drill many holes for air to escape. ( Kinda like a sprinkled donut ) + 1 larger hole to refill water. 3.Put a few litres/quarts of water in it to catch any lint and dust particulate that comes out of it. 4.Put an exhaust or small fan in/by your window or just recycle the heat in winter time. This will save bulky hoses running all over the place and a bit of $ in winter. P.S. You are really cute!
great video thank you so much one important thing I think you should point out is that it plugged into a regular wall outlet I think this very important especially in an apartment setting 😊
for the dryer, i set towels to 150 and heavier clothes. light weight 90 - 120. they make indoor venting so you don't have to rig it like this. the lint trap assembly works so well no much lint gets out. i have a knee high on mine. my dryer is in my bedroom on a dresser. in the summer i close the door to not run the ac up. it's handy in the winter. there are things to put on the back to keep it from sitting against a wall.
I just discovered the portables for some reason, but I have a basement w/washer/dryer. But it's good to know these are out there as one day when I get older & full of arthritis to make steep stairs, I can get a set of these!
Adding this to a playlist so that when I finally get my own place (and it probably won't have in-unit washing/drying), I won't waste money at public laundromats. I was actually wondering about this not too long ago.
Finally a true customer review. Thank you very much. 💛 btw I think it's pronounced "higher" (Haier). I had someone point that out to me awhile ago. Curious how it's doing after some time now.
@@sandralee9155 this was so long ago, but for other people wondering.. the hose did come with it, I had to buy a small adapter at Home depot but that was all. I ordered from Haier website, but I am sure amazon sells it now. still have it, still love it
This is a great review. I have been looking for a small washer and dryer. I have the full size ones but they are 2 stories down in the basement. I want to get smaller ones to put on second floor and use them for small items. Shirts, socks, underwear, etc. An just use the large ones for jeans, hoodies, etc. This will save some much water and energy.
Excellent review. Well done, and very creative of you and your husband. I just wish I could find that model dryer, they don't seem to be around anymore.
Great informative video. The heavy breathing did get more pronounced as the video progressed, but it was obviously not on purpose. I enjoyed your video and appreciated it for helping me understand my choices.
arayia6girmay Tina Lynn Johnson Brewer 😂😂 Hahahaha.. Right!? But am I the ONLY one who noticed how Damn Greasy Her Hair Is!? *Take a Break from washing your clothes and wash your Damn Hair* 😂😂 Cant stress this topic enough!! Ha
Very useful and informative. Thanks for posting. I'm researching like crazy for a small washer and dryer to put in our RV. The gnawing question is how big is big enough? You addressed that quite well.
I've had my own laundry room in my home for many years, but when we were first married I had to use laundromats. I would have loved to have had this washer and dryer back then
i have had a haier hlp21n-wm for about 10 years. a few months ago i replaced the belt. last year the drain hose which cracked from bending it into the washer repeatdly because it drains into the bathtub. i got the dryer that was available at the time as well. it's still going fine. i've bought a new wool lint filter that is part of the lint trap assembly. it gets pretty full with 2 cats and a corgi. mine is a slightly smaller. it's a 1 rather than 1.5 and can fit queen full, fitted, and pillow cases in one load. about 2 sweat pangs, 2 shirts and socks, etc. i use beach towels that i can do one in. they get pretty heavy when wet. sometimes i'll add washcloths or socks but nothing big with the towels. i liquid plumber the bathtub every couple of months. the lint trap is pretty good but some still gets through. they're a good brand. they were better when they were made completely in new zealand. the newer models are made in china like everything else.
Haela Fizgerald - a sincere thank you for the video. One question, did you notice a significant increase in your electric bill with its use? or is it not unreasonable?
Wow thank you for sharing. How much did you pay for both of them? ? I've been doing some research on portable washers and dryers and I really like how your's look like. ..
Crap, I heard that as well. I have JBL speakers and was about to grab something like a lacrosse stick and go in search of someone who may have broken into my home.
How portable is this unit? Would it wheel easily from a closet to a kitchen sink on a laminate floor? I noticed it is almost 100 lbs. Also I am understanding correctly that you had to buy your own drain tube? Thank you so much for answering. I just spent about $45 doing my laundry this weekend. Literally $2.25 per wash and $1.75 to dry.
I have this dryer and one thing to caution Ms. Fitzgerald or any would be owner in future is the belt that powers the drum is a plastic loop that is about the size of very heavy weed eater string. It is a constant loop no joints. It took me months to get it from the manufacturer/supplier... at a cost of $18 paid in advance of ordering. It is still not working as I have to remove the belt housing from the back of the dryer and just haven't take the time to do it. I am hanging my clothing on a expandable close hanger. Also she didn't mention the way one has to remove the back of the dryer on the inside to clean the lent trap. It is effective but should be over looked on each drying cycle.
Great idea hanging your hose over the sink! Maybe to keep it from dripping, put a small plastic bag over it. Like a sandwich size bag, and hold it on with a twist tie.
NEVER do a washing when you're sleeping or out of the house ...if the pump jams for any reason - usually a coin or similar gets into it - it can overheat and go in fire while you're asleep or away from home. Same with a tumble dryer...never have it on when you're away from home.
@@arisz2191 You need to go on to Google and check out washing machine house fires etc...you'll find there are still tens of thousands of fires caused by washing machines worldwide and tumble dryers
Thank you so much for this informative video. I just have one question. As you have fixed the drain hose vertically, does the water drain completely after the end of the cycle or some water is collected in the washer? Thank you.
Absolutely great video I'm also looking for a dryer, you did a wonderful presentation yes I enjoyed every minute and you answered all my questions thank you
Your invention of the cardboard adaption for the window was very clever.
It comes with the dryer or you can buy one. She did not invent it LOL
USFanlovesjiwoo that piece of cardboard does not come with the dryer.... she made it... you must be thinking of the metal vent

i have had a haier hlp21n-wm for about 10 years. a few months ago i replaced the belt. last year the drain hose which cracked from bending it into the washer repeatdly because it drains into the bathtub. i got the dryer that was available at the time as well. it's still going fine. i've bought a new wool lint filter that is part of the lint trap assembly. it gets pretty full with 2 cats and a corgi. mine is a slightly smaller. it's a 1 rather than 1.5 and can fit queen full, fitted, and pillow cases in one load. about 2 sweat pangs, 2 shirts and socks, etc. i use beach towels that i can do one in. they get pretty heavy when wet. sometimes i'll add washcloths or socks but nothing big with the towels. i liquid plumber the bathtub every couple of months. the lint trap is pretty good but some still gets through. they're a good brand. they were better when they were made completely in new zealand. the newer models are made in china like everything else.
Haela Fizgerald - a sincere thank you for the video. One question, did you notice a significant increase in your electric bill with its use? or is it not unreasonable?
Wow thank you for sharing. How much did you pay for both of them? ? I've been doing some research on portable washers and dryers and I really like how your's look like. ..
Sounds wonderful, expect all week its been between 0 and 11 degrees. But thank you for the video; I'm going to keep looking for possibilities.
I wish u would have shown us how the washer and dryer actually works but anyway thanks for the video
I come back to watch this video at least 3 times a year.
Great info. thx. who's breathing heavy / snoring near the end? lol.
lol
Crap, I heard that as well. I have JBL speakers and was about to grab something like a lacrosse stick and go in search of someone who may have broken into my home.
Lol, I thought that was in my house at 1st!
I was thinking the same thing. Lol
Annette Velasquez he said breathing heavy not breeding heavy
Great video! I was wondering how loud they are. Both the washer and the dryer.
I had no idea! Thank you for this educational video. Rushing to pick up my dryer. Tired of communal washing and smelly clothes
Thank you for your review, I have considering something like this for my condo...now I know I will be getting these.
Very nice and informative video. You and your husband are very resourceful. Thank you for the information.
So awesome 😉 your setup. Love the window trick and in the kitchen.
Thank you for the heads up and being thorough!
That's incredible how you made it work for you.
Thank you for sharing! It was very useful in my research, I just ordered a set from Home Depot.
How is yours holding up after a year + ?
Nice set up. I'm thinking of getting a portable washer. So I think I'll have hoses stored like yours
Just a side note. Haier now owns GE Appliances as well. They bought them in 2017.
Very informative. Thank you.
NEVER do a washing when you're sleeping or out of the house ...if the pump jams for any reason - usually a coin or similar gets into it - it can overheat and go in fire while you're asleep or away from home. Same with a tumble dryer...never have it on when you're away from home.
Washer nowadays has safety features..

You need to go on to Google and check out washing machine house fires etc...you'll find there are still tens of thousands of fires caused by washing machines worldwide and tumble dryers
Good advice, to be safe I wouldn't run washer while sleeping. I don't even like crock pot on while I'm sleeping. Safety first.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I just have one question. As you have fixed the drain hose vertically, does the water drain completely after the end of the cycle or some water is collected in the washer? Thank you.
Absolutely great video I'm also looking for a dryer, you did a wonderful presentation yes I enjoyed every minute and you answered all my questions thank you
i bet that warm moist heat would help heat my house in the winter!
Thanks, you gave me a good idea to vent the lint outside
I like the cardboard piece
Neat video! Now with the dryer does it plug into a regular outlet or is it a special type?
Regular
A regular electric outlet receptacle for both the washer & dryer?? did you have to purchase the silver exhaust vent separately?
How much did each cost my mom n I are lookin for both and those look great Thanks Diana
